Ott platforms have not just changed the rules of the entertainment market, they have given, literally, a second life to Bollywood stars who had faded away from the public eye for quite some time. On Tuesday morning actor-turned-politician Paresh Rawal dropped a bomb on Twitter by announcing that author-activist Arundhati Roy should be tied to an army jeep in Kashmir the way a stone-pelter was tied by an army man. While a lot of Paresh’s colleagues in the film industry chose to flay him in private Kamal Haasan who has directed Paresh in Chachi 420 had a lot toRead More

The Chachi 420 actors comprising of Kamal Haasan and Paresh Rawal, would be coming together once again after 18 years in a Hindi-Tamil bi-lingual that would see Kamal and his daughter Shruti Haasan playing father and daughter. Interestingly, Kamal Haasan and Paresh Rawal, who are Tamilian and Gujarati respectively, will both play Bengali characters. Kamal Haasan says he is looking forward to being reunited with Paresh. "It's a pleasure to work with a sturdy reliable co-star. Look at Tom Hardy in The Revenant. See what he has done to his character and how he has supported Leonardo Di Caprio's performance. Hardy is the best from the West since Marlon Brando. It would be a pleasure to work with a co-star like him." Kamal Haasan is still in New York scouting locations for his film co-starring Shruti Haasan that Rajeev Kumar will direct. On February 7, the actor-filmmaker took time off to address...

New Delhi, May 28: Veteran actor Kamal Haasan, who has experimented with his looks in films like "Chachi 420" and "Hey Ram", gave his inputs on his daughter Shruti's look
for "D-Day", in which she sports a distinct scar.
In "D-Day", directed by Nikhil Advani, Shruti plays Suraiya, a prostitute.
As part of the character's look, Shruti required to have a scar on her face, and her father is said to have helped her get it right.
"The story of the scar dates back to Suraiya's past, when she entered the world of sex trade at 16. She was given this scar when her face was cut open by a pimp," said a source close.

Vishwaroop
Starring Kamal Haasan, Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose
Directed by Kamal Haasan
Rating: ****
First things first. Kamal Haasan’s enormously controversial film doesn’t hurt Muslim sentiments. In fact it doesn’t hurt the sentiments of any section of the people except those party-poopers who think having a ball at the movies went out of style with Sholay and Chachi 420.
Leave aside its sobering take on global warfare, Vishwaroop is one helluva entertainer. If you’ve forgotten what edge-of-the-seat entertainment mean, then it’s time to rediscover that pleasure. Stylish and substantial the narrative weaves and winds its way into coherent and compulsive threads that bring together the theme of international espionage with the more sensitive issue of the Islamic and the personal identity of a man whose heroic stature grows out of a sense of commitment to the country and to world peace .
Personal interests, we are told,...
