Pure As Snow

Anne Fontaine re-teams with Isabelle Huppert for the third time in Pure As Snow, a modern, erotic comedy re-telling of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Snow White. Previously, the director/star worked on the 2011 comedy My Worst Nightmare and the 2017 Lgbtq drama Marvin, which saw Huppert playing an approximation of herself. Fontaine, who has kept a dizzying film schedule over the past decade, finds her project produced by Eric and Nicolas Altmayer’s Mandarin Cinema and Philippe Carcassonne’s Cine @. Alongside Huppert is Lou De Laage (of 2015’s The Wait) and also re-teams Huppert with her Nightmare co-star Benoît Poelvoorde, her Marvin co-star Vincent Macaigne, Jonathan Cohen, Damien Bonnard, Pablo Pauly, and Charles Berling.…...

Maintaining her celebrity allure behind wide sunglasses, with her trademark freckles and red hair glistening in the bright afternoon sunlight, Huppert acts surprised when told that director Anne Fontaine was nervous about casting her as a snooty gallery owner (think Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada) who falls for a working-class handyman (Benoît Poelvoorde)...

Bruno Coulais is the composer of the French comedy My Worst Nightmare (Mon pire cauchemar). The movie starring Isabelle Huppert, Benoît Poelvoorde, André Dussollier follows a married couple that suddenly find their lives turned upside down when a breezy worker is hired to do some renovations in their apartment. The film is directed by Anne Fontaine who last worked with composer Alexandre Desplat on the 2009 drama Coco Before Chanel. Bruno Pesery and Philippe Carcassonne (Coco Before Chanel) are producing. My Worst Nightmare will have its world premiere next month at the Toronto Film Festival. A release in France is scheduled for November and no domestic release plans have been announced yet.
