"Then Chennai" unfolds the story of a middle-class family's struggles in Chennai's less explored backdrop. The actors deliver good performances. Even though this is the director Ranga's debut movie, the unique style of story narration, his acting makes the movie engaging. The combination of action and family drama worked out in a great way. This movie shows the strength, passion, and family bonds and It moves at a good pace. Music directors background music is undoubtedly added strength. Editing is also good.

Excellent cinematography and color tone are remarkable strengths. This emotional drama is a must-see for families; I highly recommend it.

Well suited cast selection and they did their justice to the assigned roles. Gripping storyline, Slow burning crime thriller with family emotions and story spans across covid lockdowns. Background music elevates the movie sequences well. Trio responsibilities, ie movie direction, production and main lead role are executed by the same person Ranga. Quality of making and colour grading tones the movie is extraordinary. I feel Still somemore improvements required in editing the sequence in the last 30 minutes of the first one hour portion. Overall nice package and I felt worth spending two hours to watch.

The characters are well developed. Everyone acted well in their characters each of them brings their characters to life. The cast delivered exceptional performances, especially the actors playing SK, Antony, and the heroine, who nailed their sarcastic roles.

The cinematography was stunning, In the Hero introduction sequences he done an excellent job. BGM was notable in some scenes

The song "pudhu vanam" is a fabulous melody with beautiful lyrics.

Overall a good entertainment movie worth watchable with family.

Interesting fact is new team has come up with some experimental neat piece of artwork. The craft has both dark thriller moments and soft emotional drama! I like the combo, as in the tamil movie Kaithi.

But action and certain places of the run time, loose grips..

More than the Hero , Heroine,3 Villan characters actually elevates the film at various places of the movie.

Kudos to Ranga. His efforts seems amazing. But not sure if it because of the character of his humongous tasks is not letting him shine as a good actor yet.

Then Chennai centering its story on the backdrop of Chennai. Then Chennai is a good movie with exciting action and good acting performace by director and actor Ranga and Nithin Mehta. Cinematography and Choice of colour tone is one of the major strength to narrate the story visually. Even though editor maintains the pace intact, few sequences could have been trimmed. Background score supports the narrative, especially during the intense action sequences, However, Certain parts of the screenplay feel predictable and the movie feels a bit long, I recommend to family audience, they will love the mix of drama and action.

Movie was fantastic, Credits to entire team and your role very well executed I was enjoyed a lot, hero energy levels very high and introduction was awesome. Background music ultimate. Extraordinary role played for SK character, Antony and heroine did great with sarcastic roles mother role also very good and she did super timing

The characters with negative shades were etched out well, especially the abusive character of SK.

Some twists were predictable. Few scenes could have been more engaging/ realistic.

Kudos for some honest storytelling, sans masala elements- a film that can be watched with family.

Film was good, my opinion is the hero action cameo scenes in the last part, is also from start of the film it will be too good to this film.

Villain is great acting. All other done their part very well.

Hero action in the film like more introvert. Atleast the reason for his sadness can be revealed before first half.

Hence it gives some grip

As movie begins, director's many nots remains unopened. Post interval all nots connected well and story concluded well. Screenplay is slow and that needs to be fastened. Expected more action sequences from hero but it was missing. No glamor and decent movie. If comedy injected it would be artificial and director avoided that much appreciated. A movie with most of the characters are new come out well. This movie shows inspite of covid inspite of many people couldn't run their daily life during lockdown few things went unstoppable is alcohol, Black money and IPL. Director showed the same. It's a wake up call to all. Family First is the msg I got from movie... Keep going Ranga and team... Worth watching once in cinemas...

This ranga character shows truthfulness.

Movie was excellent and the best part is keeping only the scenes that were important to the story. Credits to the entire team of "Then Chennai", music is excellent and particularly the song is too good "pudhu vaanam pudhu boomi" my entire family loved it. Every one did fantastic Job. There is a scene when a bouncer shooted by politician, another bouncer will lock him suddenly that scene and all executed very naturally in this small scene will show the quality of the movie which I like most of the scene like this. Must watchable movie to know the family values, especially for youngsters. Once again a big thanks to the team for the wonderful movie.

This movie is done by all new faces, very few faces are known faces. Only one song in the movie is way too good... get struck in mind....hero of movie ranga good show....looks very fit suits navy physique... initial navy training is stunning.

Heroine performance to be mentioned, carries her character well, villain role is written well in the story.... hero's uncle character stays in mind....

Neatly directed movie with no big fuss. All departments excelled well. Characters well chosen and jelled with the script. A small baby reacted so well with the script. Looks like the Hero and Heroine have interacted with that kid many no of times and he seems to be at ease with them on screen. Cinematography background score excelled well. Does not look like a First time director so much of planning has gone into the making of this movie. Trailer Editing was laser sharp. I watched the trimmed version in OTT. Few places the screenplay lags a bit and makes it up in the final 15 Minutues of the movie.

Excellent movie , perfectly executed by director Ranga , and also the cast selection is perfect for this movie. There is only one song in this movie it was awesome. Almost all are new faces in this movie but it doesn't seem it is there first movie ,they have performed so well.

The hero character Jason is my personal favourite character, to much depth in the character and also the uncle character Tony is also perfect.

In the first half they have build the story really well and perfectly executed in the second half
