Ryse was originally conceived as an Xbox 360 Kinect game. After delays it was reconstructed to be a third person action game for the Xbox One while dropping all Kinect aspects.

Vitallion seems to care about Marius this shown when in the battle in York Marius convinces him to leave and when they arm shake Vitallion hesitates before he leaves and then smiles when he sees Marius in Rome (after Marius killed Commodus)
Vitallion has a low opinion of Commodus; this is proven after Marius defeats Chief Glott and frees him from the Wicker Man when Commodus demands them to get him out and Vitallion and Marius try to ignore him.
