Black Bear’s management arm has signed “Flightplan” and “Red” director Robert Schwentke for representation. In a decades-long career, Schwentke has moved between indie productions, franchise fare and action and adventure films.

His war drama, “The Captain,” premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival to critical acclaim, going on to win multiple awards, including the Fipresci Prize at the Vilnius International Film Festival. It was nominated for five categories at the 2018 German Film Awards.

Schwentke’s other directing credits include “Snake Eyes,” the third installment in the “G.I. Levantine Films is betting on the queer rom-com “A Nice Indian Boy” with a theatrical release — a show of confidence in an era where rom-coms are often relegated to streaming platforms.

The film stars “Deadpool” actor Karan Soni as an Indian man who brings his white-orphan-artist boyfriend (played by Tony and Grammy winner Jonathan Groff) home to his traditional family. When executives at Levantine Films read Madhuri Shekar’s play, they were moved to adapt the project for the big screen.

“Ideally, we’re looking for projects that are very uplifting and give people hope,” Levantine CEO Benjamin Hung tells Variety about how the movie fits into the company’s brand ethos.

Levantine, the indie production and financing company behind awards darlings like “Hidden Figures” and “Beasts of No Nation,” along with crowd-pleasers like “Blinded by the Light” and “Jerry and Marge Go Large,” enlisted Justin Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios to co-finance the film.

Few television shows have captured the hearts of fans the way Modern Family has. Running for over 11 successful seasons from 2009 to 2020, the show has garnered critical reviews and has had a huge cultural impact through its unique mockumentary style.

The actress appears in a new ad for the multipurpose cleaner that finds Faris undercover in a red wig and glasses while interviewing unsuspecting candidates for “the easiest job in the world.”

The two actress went for a walk after grabbing some coffees as they took a quick break from filming their upcoming comedy Spa Weekend on Thursday morning (February 27) in Gold Coast, Australia.

For their time on set, Isla, 49, wore a blue striped top with a denim skirt and slippers while Michelle, 47, wore a green maxi-dress.

Spa Weekend was first announced in August 2024. It follows “three best friends, Jane, Coco and Sophie, as they embark on some much-needed pampering during a luxury spa break in Palm Springs. Hollywood is grieving the unexpected loss of Michelle Trachtenberg, including several of the actress’ co-stars.

Trachtenberg — beloved for her roles in TV shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where she played Dawn Summers, and Gossip Girl, where she played Georgina Sparks — was declared dead on Wednesday at age 39. “It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away. The family requests privacy for their loss. There are no further details at this time,” the actress’ rep confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Trachtenberg was found dead in her New York City apartment by her mother on Wednesday morning, according to ABC News. The outlet reported that she is believed to have died from natural causes after experiencing complications from a liver transplant procedure.

Black Bear and Suzanne Todd Productions are producing the film, with Australian production outfit Brouhaha Entertainment handling local services. The project marks Brouhaha’s third Queensland venture following “Boy Swallows Universe” and upcoming thriller “Dangerous Animals.”

“Queensland’s reputation as a production destination of choice has never been stronger,” said Arts Minister John-Paul Langbroek, touting the Queensland government’s production incentives. The production is expected to generate 200 jobs and pump AUD12 million ($7.4 million) into the local economy.

While it was expected to reach greater heights financially with Carrey in the lead, the film was still profitable at the box office, earning over $102 million against a budget of $47 million — $20 million of which reportedly went straight into Carrey's pocket. One of the joys of watching a vintage Christmas film for the first time is seeing some of your favorite actors turn up looking impossibly young. For instance, this writer just watched 1995's "Home for the Holidays" the other night, and was delighted to see a younger Robert Downey Jr. doing his signature motormouth patter.

While that film is a bit obscure in the holiday canon, "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" is a movie that almost needs no introduction.

When Bowen Yang introduced his impersonation of Charli xcx on Saturday Night Live a month and a half ago, it got the British singer’s seal of approval. Tonight, Yang got to reprise the role alongside Charli xcx herself who was hosting the episode.

The Wicked audition sketch featured actors and other celebrities trying out for the upcoming movie starring Ariana Grande as Gilda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba.

Yang, who actually stars in Wicked as Pfannee of Phan Hall, played Charli Xcx and Charli Xcx portrayed her tour co-headliner Troye Sivan as the two auditioned together for the roles of Glinda and Elphaba.

Less than 24 hours after a new look at John Cena in one of his most anticipated upcoming projects (Peacemaker Season 2) was revealed, one of his movies thats more than five years old was quietly added to a new streamer. Cena stars alongside Leslie Mann in Blockers, the raunchy comedy that was recently added to Peacock and is now streaming on the platform. The film follows three sets of parents all trying to stop their daughters from losing their virginity on prom night. In addition to Cena and Mann, Blockers also stars Kathryn Newton and Geraldine Viswanathan, and the film currently sits at an 84% score from critics but a 51% rating from general audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, a critics-skewing split which isnt commonly seen on the aggregate site.

Netflix is well known for its original content, and many of those titles are geared toward families. Guy Ritchie’s next feature, Wife & Dog, is set to star Oscar nominee Benedict Cumberbatch, Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike and two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins.

Plot details are being kept under wraps on the movie, but it’s described as a “return to the colourful, back-stabbing world of the British aristocracy Richie explored in The Gentlemen film and TV series.”

Filming is due to start in February 2025 in the UK.

New Hollywood couple Iris Apatow and Sam Nivola got all dressed up to attend the Museum Of Modern Art’s 16th Annual Film Benefit on Wednesday night (October 23) in New York City.

After debuting their relationship at the reopening of Burberry‘s East 57th Street flagship earlier this month, they returned to the red carpet alongside Sam‘s famous parents Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola.

Shooting days slipped 5 percent over a three-month period from July to September to 5,048, marking the weakest quarter of 2024, and every category of scripted production lags behind five-year averages on both a per-quarter and year-to-date basis. Per Entertainment Weekly, Ed Helms, known for his role on The Office, played Stu in the movie, and recently went on Dany Carvey and David Spades Fly on the Wall podcast and said even old ladies love the gross-out film.
