Fremantle has launched Imaginae Studios, a standalone label that will harness the power of artificial intelligence to “push production boundaries and drive innovation in storytelling,” according to the production and distribution giant.

Fremantle is known for hit unscripted shows like “American Idol” and “America’s Got Talent,” drama series like “Normal People,” and films such as Luca Guadagnino’s “Queer” and Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things.”

Imaginae will “leverage all AI solutions, technologies and tools for the creative community, embracing experimentation, innovation and vision,” the company added. The label will offer “opportunities for the next generation of creative talent, with the hire of a dedicated team of creatives with a passion for innovation in storytelling.”

Cinematographer Darius Khondji has confirmed that Ari Aster’s upcoming film Eddington is scheduled to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Khondji made the comment during an appearance at the Doha Film Institute’s Qumra event over the weekend, where he spoke about his recent and upcoming work.

The French-Iranian cinematographer, a two-time Oscar nominee, said he will be returning to New York to complete color work on Eddington with longtime collaborator Yvan Lucas. “I’m going back to New York to do the color for Eddington that’s going to Cannes, I hear,” Khondji told Deadline. “Ari showed me the film. I heard it was going to Cannes two weeks ago.”

The film, financed and produced by A24, stars Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, and Emma Stone. Described as a dark comedy Western thriller, Eddington follows a small-town sheriff in New Mexico navigating a power struggle with a corrupt mayor during a pandemic.

Courtenay Valenti, head of Film, Streaming and Theatrical, and global marketing chief Sue Kroll, said Wednesday night that producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman are currently in London moving forward with a new 007 at long last.

Valenti called the duo “filmmaking legends.” After paying up to gain creative control of the franchise, Amazon MGM recently brought them on to produce the next 007 installment.

“We are committed to honoring the legacy of this iconic character, while bringing a fresh, exhilarating new chapter to audiences around the world alongside Amy and David,” she said. “They are both in London getting started and couldn’t be here tonight, but we wanted to thank them for what we know will be an incredible partnership. Exclusive: On the heels of signing with Amazon MGM Studios to produce the next iteration of James Bond films alongside David Heyman, Amy Pascal has closed a multiyear first-look film deal for her Pascal Pictures banner.

Under the pact, Amazon MGM Studios will have a first look at narrative features that Pascal and producing partner Rachel O’Connor percolate. The James Bond film will not be part of the overall deal.

Pascal seemed a natural choice along with Heyman to steer the next batch of Bond films. During her dozen years running Sony Pictures’ film and TV divisions, she oversaw Daniel Craig’s first 007 outings Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, the latter becoming the first Bond film to crack the billion-dollar mark at the global box office. After exiting the exec suites at Sony, Pascal took over the Tom Holland-starrer Spider-Man franchise as producer, along with the Tom Hardy Venom series.

Yesterday, during Lionsgate’s presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas and one of the more interesting attendees was director Luca Guadagnino and while on stage at the event briefly gave an update on his remake of “American Psycho,” based on the Brett Easton Ellis novel of the same name published back in 1991.

Guadagnino, via The Hollywood Reporter, shared thoughts on the remake and confirmed that screenwriter Scott Z.

Chloë Sevigny is a chameleon onscreen, and her latest turn in satire “Magic Farm” is no exception. In the film, the actress stars as a Vice News-esque documentarian who leads a film crew traveling to Argentina to expose the effects of pesticides on people. “Magic Farm” is written and directed by Amalia Ulman, with Alex Wolff, Joe Apollonio, Camila del Campo, and Simon Rex co-starring.

The official synopsis reads: “Fake it ‘til you make it. When a misguided American documentary crew in search of their next viral segment ends up in the wrong town in rural Argentina, chaos ensues. As they collaborate with locals to fake a new music trend, unexpected relationships form and an unfolding health crisis becomes apparent.”

The feature had its world premiere at Sundance earlier this year and also played at the 2025 Berlinale. “Magic Farm” will be among the previews for Mubi Fest, too.

In December, Variety had reported that Austin Butler (Dune: Part Two) was poised to pick up an axe as Patrick Bateman. Guadagnino’s update reveals that’s not quite the case.

To start, the filmmaker called the source material “a book that I deeply love that is something that has influenced me so much.”

The director confirmed that Scott Z. Burns wrote the script, which is said to be a new adaptation of Ellis’s novel and not a remake of the 2000 film. As for casting, he told the CinemaCon crowd that he’s in current “conversation with exciting performers to play the leads.” As in, no one has been set to star just yet.
