The laughing man, maybe, but I don't think the audiences will laugh, because it is a cruel tale of a poor abandoned child who was beaten to death and then had his face totally disfigured. It is a depressing, gloomy tale, the kind of story that spread in the late sixties and early seventies. Even later. But you won't find this sort of series now. I guess there was other adaptations of The Laughing Man from Victor Hugo. This one is terrific, but it is hardly believable that all this cruelty was shown to home audiences, and in also guess in prime time...Hardly believeble. Imagine, you see poor children tortured for pleasure by nasty, disgusting noble people who seek entertainment....
