The Flash is about to come face to face again with the Strength Force — though this time around, “Fuerza” will look a lot more like Reign‘s Sara Garcia.

TVLine can exclusively confirm that Garcia will make her debut in the CW series’ Tuesday, May 4 episode as Alexa Rivera, a social aid health worker who is working hard to overcome a dark past as she helps the underprivileged in Central City. But when Alexa uncovers a mysterious connection to the all-powerful Strength Force, she becomes Team Flash’s “most dangerous threat yet.”

The Witcher Season 2 has cast Basil Eidenbenz for the role of Eskel, replacing the previously tapped Thue Ersted Rasmussen.

Swiss actor Eidenbenz will fill the role of Eskel, which was vacated by Rasmussen over rescheduling issues attributed to Covid-19, reports Deadline. Pertinently, Netflix’s The Witcher was among an entire industry-wide slate of productions that halted back in March as Covid escalated to a pandemic level; an occurrence that leaves the series with a lingering issue upon its recent return, since Rasmussen had been filming scenes as Eskel starting in late February before the early-March shutdown. Consequently, the recasting of the character with Eidenbenz calls for reshoots.

Exclusive: Basil Eidenbenz (Victoria) will play popular Witcher Eskel in recasting for the second season of Netflix’s hit series The Witcher. Thue Ersted Rasmussen, who had been originally cast in the role heading into Season 2 and filmed scenes in late February and early March before production was shut down due to the escalating coronavirus pandemic, announced this week that he had to leave the show “due to the rescheduling because of Covid-19.”

Rasmussen was one of seven new cast members announced by Netflix on Feb. 21 in conjunction with the Season 2 start of production in the U.K. Just three weeks later, The Witcher became the first major TV show filmed in the UK to be grounded by the pandemic. The same day, cast member Kristofer Hivju tested positive for the virus.

A Canadian/Hungarian spy thriller from creators Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern, the X Company TV show originally ran on Canada's CBC, before ending after three seasons.

The World War II drama is inspired by the true story of a Lake Ontario espionage training compound. The series centers on five new recruits who must leave behind their lives and go to Camp X, to train as spies for the Allied Forces.

Bones alum Tamara Taylor and J.C. MacKenzie are set as leads in October Faction, based on the Idw comics by Steve Niles. Rounding out the cast are Aurora Burghart (Sex Education), Gabriel Darku, Wendy Crewson, Megan Follows and Stephen McHattie.

Adapted and created by Damian Kindler, October Faction follows globetrotting monster hunters Fred and Deloris Allen, played by MacKenzie and Taylor respectively, who, after the death of Fred’s father, return to their hometown in upstate New York with their teenage children Geoff (Darku) and Viv (Burghart). As the family adjusts, Fred and Deloris must hide their identities as members of a secret organization, and our heroes quickly discover that their new small-town setting isn’t as idyllic as it seems.

Netflix is expanding its sci-fi/genre portfolio with three new series orders, to Neil Labute’s The I-Land, starring Kate Bosworth, Natalie Martinez and Alex Pettyfer; October Faction, based on the Idw comics by Steve Niles, and Warrior Nun, inspired by the Manga novels.

Netflix has ordered 10 episodes of October Faction, from creator/executive producer Damian Kindler, High Park Entertainment in association with Idw Entertainment; seven episodes of The I-Land, from Nomadic Pictures Entertainment, with Bosworth also producing; and 10 episodes of Warrior Nun, from creator/executive producer Simon Barry.

They join the recently picked up new sci-fi series The Order, Wu Assassins, Locke & Key, V Wars, and Another Life as Netflix is making in big push in the genre arena as is rival Amazon.

The I-Land marks Magic Mike star Pettyfer’s TV series debut. Bosworth previously did stints on The Art of More, Young Americans and BBC’s SS-bg.

Susan Swan’s novel The Biggest Modern Woman of the World is being adapted for television by Orphan Black producer Temple Street Productions.

The Canadian producer has optioned the 1983 book and Canadian playwright Hannah Moscovitch, who has written on TV dramas including X Company and Played, is adapting.

The book tells the true story of a seven-foot-six giantess who exhibited with P.T. Barnum. It follows Anna Swan, who died in 1888, from childhood as one of 13 children of poor Scottish immigrants in Nova Scotia through a life of showbusiness that took her to New York and across Europe. Barnum billed her as The Biggest Modern Woman of the World in his entertainment palace on Broadway.

David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, Co-Chairmen of Temple Street owner Boat Rocker, will exec produce with Killjoys and Saving Hope’s Trish Williams and Moscovitch. Boat Rocker controls the international rights.

“We started off with the classic ’60s look,” Pehrsson explains, referring to the original William Shatner-led version of “Trek.” To do this he used “a 4:3 format with a very static camera” and “Dutch framing.” His lighting also featured “nice eye-light” for Plemmons and “beautiful, glossy frames for the female actors” like Milioti.
