Evan Hofer’s time on General Hospital has come to an end after his character, Dex Heller, was poisoned with digitalis while recovering from a stab wound in the hospital. I have my own theory about why I don’t think we have seen the last of Dex.

Hofer first aired as Dex on May 5, 2022, and he last aired on December 16, 2024. Dex may have only been in town a little less than two years, but his impact was definitely felt in that short time. Dex had been tormented and bullied by his two older brothers throughout his childhood, with them putting him in the hospital five different times. His parents dismissed the violence as “boys being boys,” which led him to enlist in the Army to escape his dysfunctional family.

Norway has selected Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel’s Armand, starring Renata Reinsve, to represent it in the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Oscars.

The drama was selected from a short list of three films that also included Erik Poppe’s psychological drama Quisling – The Final Days and Dag Johan Haugerud’s dark comedy Sex.

Armand is the first feature of Ullmann Tøndel, who is the grandson of Liv Ullmann and Ingmar Bergman. It world premiered in Cannes Un Certain Regard this year, becoming the first Norwegian film to win the Camera d’Or, for best first film across Official Selection and the parallel sections.

When Art announced earlier this year that his tenure at Live was ending, Kelly was so upset that she seriously considered retiring alongside him.

Art was Kelly’s mainstay during her years at Live, but the thought of moving to a new studio next year was too big of a change for the longtime employee.

Disney has been moving different ABC shows, including The View, to the new building, and Art negotiated Live staying put for another year.

While Kelly has not officially announced her retirement yet, the entire Live with Kelly and Mark show will look completely different in a new building with a new set.

The Aerosmith train has stopped a-rollin’.

The group announced on its official X account that it won’t return to touring, citing vocalist Steven Tyler’s injured vocals and inability to recover.

“We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing,” the band wrote. “As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision — as a band of brothers — to retire from the touring stage.”

Barry Sonnenfeld's 1991 film "The Addams Family," based on the New Yorker comic strips by Chas Addams and extrapolated from the 1964 sitcom of the same name, was a pop culture clarion call for aspiring young goths the world over. The Addams Family were a gaggle of murderous weirds who lived in a haunted mansion, kept a severed human hand as a pet, and regularly engaged in cute family games wherein they exhumed long-dead relatives. They loved blood, sex, and magic. It's possible they were immortal; the young Wednesday (Christina Ricci) regularly murdered her brother Pugsley (Jimmy Workman). Morticia (Anjelica Huston) and Gomez (Raul Julia) were sexually active to an enviable degree, perhaps standing as one of the healthiest, most sex-positive couples in movies at the time. They were full of zest and joie de vivre. Only they were obsessed with death, so perhaps the term should be joie de mourir.

It’s an interesting month on HBO and Max this March, as two acclaimed films hit the streamer along with some intriguing original programming.

First up in the movies arena is the streaming debut of Wonka, starring Timothée Chalamet. From beloved Paddington director Paul King, the film follows the adventures of a young Willy Wonka as he looks to become the world’s best (and weirdest) chocolatier. Aerosmith have unveiled the new Greatest Hits collection, due for release on August 18th ahead of the band’s farewell tour.

The career-spanning compilation will be available in a plethora of configurations: a Super Deluxe 4-lp colored-vinyl box set; a numbered 2-lp 180-gram black vinyl pressing with alternate cover; a limited CD with featuring Aerosmith’s 2000s image and logo; a deluxe 4-lp box set on 180-gram black vinyl; 2-lp black vinyl; single LP black vinyl; deluxe 3-cd box set with photo booklet; and CD with photo booklet.

The Super Deluxe edition sports a whopping 44-song tracklist that chronologically traverses the band’s 50-plus-year career. All of the songs on our recent Aerosmith Top 10 Songs list made the cut, including iconic rockers such as “Dream On,” “Walk This Way,” and “Sweet Emotion.”

For hardcore fans, the Super Deluxe edition is the most collectible piece here, retailing for $180 exclusively via Aerosmith’s website.

The best R-rated animated comedies are also some of the best cartoon movies period. Today, both children and adults are well-versed in the style and tone of PG-rated animation, as many contemporary cartoon movies have become at par with live-action films in terms of storytelling. This, however, has stolen the spotlight from R-rated comedic cartoons. It's a pity because the lack of restrictions afforded by an R-rating allows these cartoons to further push the boundaries of the medium - in ways that animated comedies permissible for children cannot.

Indeed, between puppet-oriented dramedies, Adult Swim movies about anthropomorphic fast food, and a profanity-filled musical, R-rated animated movies almost prove that adults are more immature than kids. Moreover, from the unapologetic vulgarity of movies like Heavy Metal and Sausage Party, the philosophical inquiries of Mind Game, to the political hard sci-fi of A Scanner Darkly, the best R-rated comedies have come a long way.

Exclusive: Teddy Sears (American Horror Stories) and Tamberla Perry (All-American: Homecoming) have landed roles in the NBC medical drama pilot Wolf starring Zachary Quinto.

From writer/executive producer Michael Grassi, Wolf is inspired by the books The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and An Anthropologist on Mars by Oliver Sacks. It follows a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist, Dr. Oliver Wolf (Quinto), and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier, the human mind, while also grappling with their own relationships and mental health.

Sears will play Dr. Josh Nichols, a neurosurgeon who left a private practice in San Francisco to work at Bronx General. When watching Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke in Raymond & Ray, so comfortably and authentically playing off each other as a pair of half-brothers who have been emotionally messed up by their late father, it’s almost impossible to believe they’ve never worked together before, let alone aren’t related in some way.

They have Rodrigo Garcia to thank for the introduction, and they in turn have repaid the filmmaker known for his portraits of complex women in films like Nine Lives and Albert Nobbs with a winning delve into contemporary masculinity and all its quirks that is as tenderly observed as it is laugh-out-loud funny. FilmNation Entertainment today announced the launch of Infrared, a new film production label that will look to finance and produce mainstream films with franchise potential, producing three to four mid-to-high level budget films each year across the action, thriller, comedy and sci-fi genres.

The label will be led by President of Production Drew Simon, who reports to FilmNation Entertainment CEO Glen Basner. In his role, he will oversee all elements of the label’s films, from development through production, while managing the label’s team.

Simon has hired Sam Speiser as Infrared’s Vice President of Production, with Speiser to support him in overseeing all stages of project development and production. She will be responsible for sourcing and vetting new material, helping to build Infrared’s ongoing slate of films, and managing feature film projects through their complete lifecycles.

Ukraine battle against invading Russian forces is now in its sixth month, and the country’s filmmakers remain determined to document the horrors facing its people.

The Organization of Ukrainian Producers (Oup) has finished filming documentary Mariupol. Unlost Hope, which tells the stories of ordinary people who spent the first month of the invasion in the city of Mariupol. Director is Maksym Lytvinov.

Mariupol, in the east of Ukraine close to the Russian border, has been decimated since fighting began. The city’s mayor has said 21,000 have died, while the film puts the number now at 22,000.

Actor-comedian George Lopez, Academy Award nominee Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo and Damián Alcázar have joined the cast of “Blue Beetle,” DC Films and Warner Bros.’ first superhero movie starring a Latino character, TheWrap has exclusively learned.

“Cobra Kai” breakout Xolo Maridueña is set to star in the lead role of Jaime Reyes. Lopez is playing the role of Uncle Rudy, Barraza is playing Nana, Carrillo is playing Rocio and Alcázar is playing Alberto. The four round out the rest of the Reyes family which includes Bellisa Escobedo who plays Milagro.

They join a cast that includes Brazilian actress Bruna Marquezine and Harvey Guillén.

The intent was always to cast the multigenerational Reyes family authentically Mexican and Mexican-American, according to director Angel Manuel Soto.

While we're sad about the current state of Oscar we still have 93 other years of Oscar history to obsess over. So I'm happy to share that I was invited back for a final appearance on "The One-Inch Barrier". Juan Carlos Ojano's podcast has looked at every Oscar race for Best International Feature Film while moving backward in time. Well almost every. There's still a few episodes to go. For this episode Juan Carlos and I talked about the nominated films of 1957 including The Gates of Paris (France), the noir The Devil Strikes at Night (Germany), the musical melodrama Mother India (India), the WW II survival drama Nine Lives (Norway), and the winning film Federico Fellini's enchanting Nights of Cabiria (Italy).

Ingmar Bergman's influential early classic The Seventh Seal was also submitted for the Oscars that year but the Academy unwisely passed. I have words about that.

My dad was a force of nature.

Anyone who was in his presence would feel it immediately. Some would be awestruck, others giddy and almost all would get tongue-tied. And then something remarkable would happen. He would take their hand or touch their arm and fix them with a gaze so warm and so present it would bring them back to themselves, to

the moment.

I never understood the alchemy that allowed him to be both otherworldly and simultaneously so incredibly down-to-earth. He was magic. The rarest of humans that could make you feel like you were in the presence of both a king and your favorite friend. It’s this quality that drew the world to him, and I think, at least in part, it’s why we are collectively heartbroken by his passing.
