The Halloween H20 episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written by Eric Walkuski, Narrated and Edited by Tyler Nichols, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
As we all know, the first half of the 90s could often be a scary time for the horror genre. Of course, there were more than a few stand-outs, but for the most part the slasher overload of the 80s had made the general audience rather weary of the genre – it was left to the hardcore fanatics to seek out the real gems. Even horror’s superstars weren’t pulling in the public anymore, some of them seriously slumming it in movies that were practically made to be sent direct-to-video.

Frightfest Presents film Population Zero
Just a week after it announced a new festival sponsorship deal with Arrow, Frightfest has revealed that it has a new partner for its home viewing label, Frightfest Presents. Signature Entertainment, which has released over 600 titles since it was founded in 2011, will distribute the films across both physical and digital formats, bringing films created by the festival into horror fans' homes.
The deal follows the recent purchase of Signature by Us giant Ffi holdings, an arrangement that is expected to sigifnicantly expand its annual slate of releases. CEO Mark Goldberg has stressed that it will continue to focus on independent films.
"We are truly thrilled to be partnering with FrightFest," Signture COO Jon Bourdillon said of the new deal. "The combination of their expert knowledge and contacts in the genre and our outstanding commercial relationships makes this a winning partnership. With horror fans increasingly flocking.

In 2009 three young men were killed in a remote part of Yellowstone National Park. Authorities never found the murderer. He found them. Only hours after three young men were gunned down in cold blood, Dwayne Nelson walked into a ranger station miles away and confessed to the crime. Despite his detailed confession, Dwayne Nelson was allowed to go free because of a loophole in the American Constitution. Documentarian Julian T. Pinder travels to Yellowstone compelling chase for truth behind a crime that should have rocked the nation. How did the United States Constitution, the supreme law of the United States of America, let a guilty man go free?

It is almost inconceivable now to explain to audiences in what is now the age of information, the fervent sense of lore and mythology built around the release of The Blair Witch Project in 1999. With all the talk of fake news as of late, a different sense of uncertainty existed regarding how communication transpired during that period. It was a much more naïve speculative time when it came to cinema, which allowed for questions contemplating whether or not something like The Blair Witch was a work of non-fiction, to remain unanswered. A feat that seems impossible to replicate now with the overload of knowledge readily available at our fingertips. As such a movie that presents itself in the form that Population Zero presents itself in seems to be tailored for a time that no longer exists.
The impact of Population Zero in many ways hinges itself on...

Bear Chasing Bison in Population Zero
When it comes to high concept films, Population Zero is up there. A stranger accompanies three young men to a remote area of Yellowstone National Park. He guns them all down. Then he walks to a nearby ranger station and confesses, but he never goes to prison for it, because in that particular little strip of land it is impossible to prosecute such a crime. A premise like this is a challenge to develop, but filmmakers Adam Levins and Julian Pinder do so very successfully, and raise a lot of interesting questions along the way.
When I catch up with Adam he tells me that he's very excited that the film is being screened at Frightfest. He also tells me that he's been a father for one week - "definitely the biggest achievement so far in my life" - so everything is a bit overwhelming just now and he.

Shock reviews the eerie found footage mock-doc Population Zero. True crime documentaries are certainly en vogue at the moment, and Julian T. Pinder and Adam Levins have certainly delivered with their reconnaissance into a disturbing loophole in constitutional law that ultimately enabled a North Dakota man to walk consequence free after shooting three young campers…
