Avis à la une
It's a decent show, but could be 30 minutes. It's way too repetitive. The same imagery over and over. They also attempt to entertain by having the actors pose for all these pictures that are put on a obviously fake Facebook page. It moves way too slow.
We understand the need to have survivors, family members and friends speaking throughout the show. But come ON, what's up with the smaltzy stage setups for these interviews? The one with Haley kept showing her brother speaking, with the camera viewing him from OUTSIDE a window, and the windows blinds partially obscuring his body, and his body/face were pointing off to the side. WTF. Very amateurish. Other interviews show the person facing 90 degrees away from the TV viewer. They are speaking to US. Why does the video director have a camera on their profile? There was another episode where the interviewee was filmed from a distance, facing sideways away from the TV viewer. They kept showing her like this. How plain stupid. These gimmicky shots are a deal breaker. I'm done watching this show. When a person who's involved with the crime is telling a story, I want them to be facing ME, the viewer, not some unseen spot out of camera range.
I don't expect the absolute best actors but this acting is barely believable and awkward to watch. Also the photos rolls of the actors on the fake Facebook background in every episode are extremely weird. It's extremely repetitive as well. If they don't have enough material they should just shorten it. The only redeeming attribute is the actual eye witness interviews.
Just this 2017 segment "Behind The Shower Curtain" has my heart in my throat racing & knotted stomach twisting, "boring" it ain't no such thing! Get there hence to that played out cretinous female Zahn for such description; there may be, understandably, variations between the crimes depicted, but to me only them as are wanting heightened degrees of graphic presentation would be let down here; the ramping up of "What's gonna happen?" suspense is what makes these depictions so absorbing. As usual with this attention-deficit-disordered outfit, they'll put out some few crumbs of a decently gripping, well-executed program (i.e. Over My Dead Body) only, not only for said bits never to be seen again, but another show like this one served up, to almost the same fate - an occasional reairing, however it is they decide that. Meanwhile Miss Polla goes un-merrily along for years, for me thankfully taking up space i can Attend Closely elsewhere. Well so it goes, I'm left just to monitor my 8-day program guide to pick out such items of interest, (not much) past & present, & surf the extensive on-demand offerings. Those "alone" have a welcome feature no Discovery Miscommunications on-air program does - the complete lack of that horrific onscreen trash they're spewing out like a disposal gone mad. This sample of what makes the IDiot channel actually preeminent in the field of crime documentaries may not be to all tastes, but certainly deserves better than 70%.
