Actor Vinod Mehra who was who was born on February 13, 1945, and who passed at age 45 on October 30, 1990, was never an active advocate of his own talent. You would never hear this quiet, polite, affable actor talking about his own performances, let alone his turbulent personal life.

Pritish Nandy, the Indian poet, producer and filmmaker, has passed away at the age of 73.

Born in 1951 in Bihar, he produced many films such as Bollywood Calling, Sur, Kaante, Chameli and Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, among others. Numerous figures in Indian entertainment have been paying tribute to the influential figure, whose death was confirmed to local news sites by his son, Kushan Nandy.

Nandy also produced comedy-drama Four More Shots Please!, which won an International Emmy nomination in 2020, and romantic anthology series Modern Love Mumbai for Prime Video.

He was also a prolific journalist, serving as the publishing director of The Times of India Group as well as editor of The Illustrated Weekly of India, The Independent, and Filmfare in the 1980s. He was also a recipient of India’s civilian honor, the Padma Shri, in 1977, as well as an International Humanitarian Award in 2012.

India’s massive population and its embrace of multiple forms of video streaming are having far-reaching implications for the country’s content industries, its wider economy and the country’s position on the international stage, says an in-depth new report.

“Beyond Screens – Streaming VoD’s Impact on the Creative Economy,” was published Wednesday. It was commissioned by Prime Video India and conducted by Singapore-based Media Partners Asia.

The report paints the picture of a sector that is now attracting close to $6 billion a year of local content investment, on a par with South Korea, and demonstrates that India is a top three market in terms of net new subscriber additions and revenue growth for both Amazon and Netflix.

Exclusive: Indian actress Sayani Gupta has signed with Crimson Media and The Sb Initiative for worldwide representation.

Gupta is known for roles such as in Prime Video series Four More Shots Please, the first series out of Indian with an all-female protagonist line-up. Dubbed ‘the desi Sex and the City‘ by Indian press, the show follows four young women in millennial Mumbai.

A pair of top international executives have joined forces to build a UK-based talent agency and production business.

Thomas Drachkovitch and Jason Hafford will lead Dream Bay Entertainment, with former Amazon exec Drachkovitch the founder and Managing Director and ex-CAA rep Hafford co-founder and Head of Dbe Management.

The company, which Drachkovitch launched last year after exiting his role at Amazon Studios (now Amazon MGM Studios), comprises film and television production, literary and talent management, and media advisory services divisions. After a two years’ wait, the much-awaited Amazon Original Four More Shots Please is back with this third season. All set to stream on the service from October 21st, the Emmy-nominated series will once again take the viewers up close and personal with the girls who are navigating the storms of their lives with sass.

While fans eagerly wait to see the girls back in action, Maanvi Gagroo, Sayani Gupta and Bani J revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes moment where they jumped into a freezing lake to get the perfect shot.

India’s T-Series, Reliance Entertainment and Match Cut Productions have teamed on Srijit Mukherji’s Hindi-language satire “Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga.”

Inspired by true events, the film is about the adverse effects of urbanization, human-animal conflict and poverty, leading to a bizarre practice in a village located on the edge of a forest.

It stars Pankaj Tripathi (“Sacred Games”), Neeraj Kabi (“Paatal Lok”) and Sayani Gupta “(Four More Shots Please”).

Mukherji’s credits include Bengali-language films “Autograph” (2010), which was a Glasgow International Film Festival and Abu Dhabi International Film Festival selection, “Jaatishwar” (2014), “Chotushkone” (2015), “Rajkahini (2015) and “Ek Je Chilo Raja” (2019), which played at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. “Sherdil” will be his second Hindi film after the 2017’s “Begum Jaan,” the remake of “Rajkahini.”

Kirti Kulhari, who has been part of many Ott projects including "The Girl On The Train" and "Four More Shots Please", says that Ott has changed the way showbiz works. She says that for an Ott project, a big name may garner buzz initially but after that it's just the content that matters.

"If you are claiming to make content-oriented stuff, then you have to have people who do justice to it. Ott is a space where initial attraction might happen due to a popular face but at the end of it, your name is not enough. I want to see something real and valuable if I am giving my five hours to a show on Ott. Good performance is what works at the end. Mumbai, March 15 (Ians) Kirti Kulhari feels if an actor doesnt want to be stereotyped in similar roles, then he or she should be ready to refuse projects.

"You are as responsible for being typecast as the person who is typecasting you. You have to make choices that are different and learn to say no. It is not easy to say no but if you don't, you cannot complain. If you stand up for the roles you want to do, you will break out of that mould eventually," she told Ians.

Kirti has made her mark with diverse roles in series such as "Four More Shots Please!", and "Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors" as well as films such as "The Girl On The Train" and "Uri: The Surgical Strike". She says no matter the platform, typecasting happens everywhere, but she has a strict policy of never picking up similar characters.

New Delhi, March 9 (Ians) Ridhi Dogra features in the new web series, "The Married Woman", which revolves around the topic of same-sex love or lesbianism -- a topic considered taboo by many. The actress agrees that a lot of things are forbidden in India and that there are a lot of things the country feels uncomfortable about.

Over the years, Hindi film industry has seen several films and show that have focussed on same-sex love, such as "My Brother... Nikhil", "Dostana", "Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan", "Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga", "Made In Heaven" and "Four More Shots Please!". In "The Married Woman", Ridhi and Monica Dogra play a lesbian couple.

"A lot of things are taboo in our country. There are a lot of things that have happened but they are taboo. I think that is just the climate -- that is how we are as people.

She essays Inspector Dalbir Kaur Bagga, a turbaned cop in London tracking a murder, and her character comes with an important twist in the end.

"It feels great to be appreciated for this role. Getting the chance to play a cop was in itself very special. This movie offered me the opportunity to collaborate with (director) Ribhu Dasgupta, (co-actors) Parineeti Chopra and Aditi Rao Hydari. It was a creatively satisfying experience. After this movie, I feel like I am being encouraged to try different things as an actor," she tells Ians.
