Often, romance anime only last for one season. There's only a handful of romance anime, like From Me To You and Kaguya-Sama: Love is War, that have gotten more seasons. Other beloved romance anime are stuck in season one limbo and deserve another season to adapt their immersive story. Yona of the Dawn is a prime example of a romance anime that wholly deserves another season.
Giving romance anime another season gives the series the proper development it deserves. Sometimes, since many romance anime are locked to one season, their story ends up feeling rushed. Fortunately, some romance anime have had a resurgence, such as From Me To You, getting a third season after a decade. As fans of anime head deeper into the 2020s, the future of romance anime is looking more promising.

Even the most devoted Marvel fans may not know of starlet Jenna Ortega’s role in the MCU — something the Death of a Unicorn actress recently reflected on as a seemingly one-and-done experience.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight alongside co-star Paul Rudd, the Scream actress responded to the reporter’s hopes of her joining the blockbuster franchise.
“I did it once,” Ortega said of being in the MCU. “It was one of the first jobs I ever did. They took all my lines out. I’m in ‘Iron Man 3’ for a quick second. I take up the frame, I have one leg and I’m the vice president’s daughter.”
When Rudd, who notably portrays Ant-Man in the ever-expanding universe, countered that “Marvel is very good at like, kind of laying those bread crumbs, and so it might very well be that you come back. That they are...

Jenna Ortega became internationally famous when she took the titular role in Netflix's hit Addams Family spin-off, Wednesday. While the actress has long certified her status as a scream queen, few people remember she had her big feature role in a Marvel film.
Ortega's name is now tied to several horror films, and she has proven her acting talents in many darker projects. However, her first feature film was 2013's Iron Man 3. The actress played a very small role as a child actor, playing the daughter of the U.S. Vice President (played by Miguel Ferrer), and appeared briefly on the screen. With rumors about her joining the MCU, Ortega didn't show much interest in the superhero world when speaking to Entertainment Tonight.

Synonymous with biting of the chest, neck, and thigh, total consumption, and supernatural allure, vampires have long been tangled up in themes of eroticism and desire. From J. Sheridan Le Fanu’s bewitching description of his titular Carmilla to Buffy the Vampire Slayer’sAngel and Spike, artists depict vampires as creatures of temptation. No one loves sexy vampires and their strange seductions as much as the king of weird himself, director Jesús Franco. Finished in 1973 and released in 1975, Franco’s film Female Vampire, also known as The Bare-Breasted Countess, or Erotikill, has as many cuts as it does names. Whether watching the pure horror version or the borderline pornographic one, Female Vampire is openly interested in the convergence between vampires and sexuality. An amalgamation of everything that made Franco famous, Female Vampire has the flashy visuals, edgy plot, and accusations of sexploitation.

Jenni Konner has been making distinctive TV shows with humor and an inclusive bend for her entire career. The Girls co-showrunner and executive producer, who launched her own production studio in 2018 and now works alongside producing partner Nora Silver, is responsible for some of TV’s more colorful and newfangled takes over the last few years. Shirley MacLaine is the Oscar-winning performer who has made dozens of movies in her 60-plus year career, but how many of those titles remain classics? Let’s take a look back at 20 of her greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Born in 1934, MacLaine is the older sister of Warren Beatty, proving that acting talent must run in the family. She made her screen debut with Alfred Hitchcock‘s “The Trouble with Harry” (1955) when she was just 21 years old. Her first Oscar nomination came three years later: Best Actress for “Some Came Running” (1958).
MacLaine would compete four more times at the Oscars unsuccessfully: three for Best Actress, once for Best Documentary Feature (“The Other Half of the Sky: A China Memoir” in 1975). She finally struck gold with James L. Brooks‘ comedic drama “Terms of Endearment” (1983), playing a controlling mother who clashes with her free-spirited daughter (Debra Winger). Maude Apatow is set to direct Poetic Licence, a film about two best friends as they compete for the attention and affection of their teacher.
Maude Apatow is moving behind the camera. The actress has just set up her own production company, Jewelbox Pictures, together with Olivia Rosenbloom.
As reported by Deadline, the production company’s first project is Poetic Licence in which two best friends are competing for the affection of their middle-aged teacher. Raffi Donatich is penning the script. Deadline’s article doesn’t specify whether the film will be a comedy, but that would certainly fit the bill and Apatow would have plenty of experience in the field as the daughter of comedy director Judd Apatow and actress Leslie Mann.
Apatow told Deadline that the film “encapsulates the pressures of growing up, and how those pressures don’t necessarily ever go away. It’s a coming-of-age story for all ages.

Reality television star Caitlyn Jenner has come out in support of a New York county’s ban on transgender female athletes.
Jenner, a transwoman, came out to the public in April 2015.
Jenner is also a former Olympic gold medalist, who won the men’s decathlon competition at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Canada.
Last week, Jenner supported the ban on trans athletes during a press conference alongside Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman in Mineola.
The ban would prevent transgender athletes on female sports teams from using county-owned facilities. It applies to over 100 athletic facilities in New York City’s Long Island suburbs, including ballfields, basketball and tennis courts, swimming pools and ice rinks.
The ban does not apply to trans men, only trans women.
She said that having trans women compete would “ruin women’s sports” in the future.
“Let’s stop it now while we can,” she urged people.

There will be more Jedi in the Disney Plus series The Acolyte than has ever been featured on film or TV, according to showrunner Leslye Headland.
Headland shared this and more details about the series during an Entertainment Weekly Dagobah Dispatch podcast. She revealed that the show is set in the era of the High Republic when the Jedi were at the height of diplomacy and influence. Despite this, the show’s plot will still highlight the rise of the dark side of the Force. The events of The Acolyte will revolve around a former Padawan reunited with a Jedi mentor, as they try to resolve crimes that are influenced by forces more insidious than they expected. The series will recount the final days of the High Republic, also serving as a precursor to the Star Wars prequel story.

This post contains spoilers for "The Last of Us" episode 5.
When Melanie Lynskey's Kathleen meets with a group of imprisoned Fedra "collaborators" in the new episode of "The Last of Us," she calls to mind a schoolteacher. She neatly unfolds a metal chair and takes a seat in front of the group. They're on the ground, huddled in fear, but from the right angle they look like they could be listening to story time. Her language when she speaks to them, simple yet patronizing, reinforces the idea. "Did it feel good?" she asks the group, describing the way they sold out their neighbors for the barest of rewards. "Did it make you feel safe? How does it make you feel now?"

Warner Bros Television Group on Tuesday revealed the 12 directors selected for the 2020 Warner Bros Television Directors’ Workshop, which will be held virtually this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The redesigned program has been condensed into two weeks (from the usual nine) of online learning, with lectures led by co-teachers Bethany Rooney and Mary Lou Belli along with various showrunners, directors, cinematographers and editors. The practical directing work normally done on Warners’ sets will now be done using co-habitating actors, with the directors work with them remotely.
The program launched in 2013 with the aim to directors from other creative fields for the transition to TV, and to spur equity and inclusion by providing opportunities for female helmers and those from underrepresented groups. Michaela Coel’s breakout success in the U.S. is largely credited to Netflix. The streamer was the domestic distributor of her acclaimed comedy series “Chewing Gum,” for which Coel won a BAFTA for Best Female Performance in a Comedy Program, and she later appeared in an Emmy-winning episode of “Black Mirror” and fronted the 2018 Netflix musical film “Been So Long.” Netflix also released the Coel-starring drama series “Black Earth Rising” outside the United Kingdom in 2019. Coel’s history with Netflix made the streamer a natural destination for her latest project, “I May Destroy You,” but the creator walked away from a mega-deal in order to maintain ownership of the series.
In a new profile published by Vulture, Coel reveals that Netflix made her an offer for “I May Destroy You” in spring 2017 worth $1 million. The series is based off Coel’s personal experience of being sexually assaulted during the making of “Chewing Gum.

The music scene in Austin, Texas, is alive with talent and energy – and you hope that energy would inspire Terrence Malick, who lives there, to bust out of the filmmaking funk of his recent work (Knight of Cups, To the Wonder). No such luck. Despite a few glimpses of Iggy Pop, Flea, Lykke Li and Big Freedia in live performance, Song to Song has no music in its DNA, not to mention its soul. Instead, Malick indulges in his usual visual tropes, having characters wander around aimlessly while muttering their mock-profound thoughts in voiceover.

Any other time, any other way that Grey’s Anatomy’s April could have been made interim chief of general surgery would have been fine. Fine and dandy, even. But, since it happened when she was in the middle of a revolt on Richard’s behalf against Eliza — and the temporary promotion came at the expense of coconspirator Meredith — it was neither fine nor dandy. In fact, it resulted in Kepner spending most of “It Only Gets Much Worse” wishing that it really was lonely at the top, because she was surrounded by colleagues who mostly were hopping mad at her.

Big winners also included Oscar nominee Mustang and local box office hit Margurite.
Philippe Faucon’s contemporary immigrant drama Fatima won best film at France’s César ceremony in Paris on Friday, beating hot favourites Marguerite, My Golden Years, and Oscar nominee Mustang as well as Palme d’Or winner Dheepan.
The picture — based on the semi-autobiographical works of Fatima Elayoubi about an illiterate North African woman adapting to life in France — also won Césars for best upcoming actress for Zita Hanot and best adaptation for Faucon.
As was the case last year, when Abderrahmane Sissako’s timely exploration of Islamic extremism of Timbuktu swept the board, the votes of 4,276-strong César academy appear to have been influenced in part by events in France, which like many countries across Europe is preoccupied with immigration and the reality of its ethnic minorities.
