Babs was miscast

Streisand is still good in this thankless role playing a necessarily annoying character. The real jewel in this film is Maureen Stapleton. As always she gives an award winning performance. The acting is good but the courtroom scenes stretch credibility.

This is the final film of both Robert Webber and Karl Malden.

Gaffes
At the end of the movie, Claudia been released and is walking down the street in her hospital gown, laughing at passerby. She has only been judged competent to stand trial, not innocent. She should be in lockup at Riker's Island or The Tombs. Also, even if they had released her, she would have had her street clothes returned.

WRONG: While there is clearly some artistic license in having Claudia walk out in her hospital gown, the judge clearly stated that he was releasing her on her own recognizance until the trial so she wouldn't have been locked up in Riker's Island, The Tombs, Devil's Island, Arkham Asylum or anywhere else for that matter.
