The actor's opening sequence last year in the HBO drama "The Newsroom" -- in which his character, Atlantis Cable News anchor Will McAvoy, made a visible shift from non-opinionated milquetoast to outspoken rebel in the space of a few minutes -- earned the role and the show immediate attention, and undoubtedly helped reward him with the honor for outstanding lead actor in a drama series at Sunday's (Sept. 22) 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards.
In accepting, Daniels humorously recalled one of his last awards was from the Aarp for his performance in the 2005 movie "The Squid and the Whale." He wryly noted, "We'll have to move the Barcalounger," allegedly the "trophy" he received from that organization.
After turning serious in thanking his fellow cast and crew members on the show -- which Daniels tweeted had gotten a Season...
