Despite appearing in every season of The Walking Dead and being one of the franchise's most important characters, fans have never seen Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) kiss anyone. However, the latest episode of Daryl Dixon season 2 featured the monumental moment: Daryl and Isabelle (Clémence Poésy) shared an intimate kiss in the final moments.
Daryl and Isabelle found each other in post-apocalyptic France. They were brought together by their mutual desire to protect Laurent, a young boy who many believe to be the messiah. Together, they've formed their own little surrogate family. After spending so much time together, in constant fear of death, Daryl and Isabelle shared an intimate kiss in the latest installment.
The kiss stirred up some strong feelings among the fandom. According to Reedus, fans shouldn't expect things to get any more romantic than that. “I don't think there was an intention to get to second base," he told Entertainment Weekly.

Norman Reedus has recounted his disastrous first on-screen kiss in a forgotten 1998 thriller, Dark Harbor, explaining how he needed the director's help to do it right. With a seasoned acting career behind him, Reedus is no stranger to kisses onscreen, having performed multiple across his time in movies and TV series. His latest kiss was in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2, episode 2, where his titular character kissed Clmence Posy's Isabelle. The surprising moment was also an important one for the story of the zombie series moving forward.
But, speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Reedus recalled his disastrous first on-screen kiss with Polly Walker (Bridgerton) in the 1998 thriller Dark Harbor. The actor remembers kissing her and using his tongue twice in a row, both times surprising his scene partner. He ended up asking the director, Adam Coleman Howard, about his performance, who told him what he was doing wrong. Reedus apologized to Walker,...

Queen Mary's Dark Harbor has become a perennial haunted attraction in the greater Los Angeles area for good reason; it features fun mazes and a really great atmosphere in one of the best locations in La.

Queen Mary, the iconic ship turned hotel in Long Beach, is quickly becoming the hot spot for seasonal events. Queen Mary's Dark Harbor is a massive Halloween fair featuring six elaborate haunted mazes, some unique monsters, a whole bunch of live shows, and a lot of carnival food. I visited Dark Harbor with my good friend Jessica Cameron, director of Truth or Dare and Mania, and we both had an amazing time.
The best haunted maze was also one of this year's new additions. Lullaby maze tells the true story of Scary Mary, a little girl who drowned in a pool aboard The Queen Mary in the 1920's. Now she haunts the ship, terrorizing visitors. Lullaby tells a coherent, intense ghost story that never lets up. The little girl Mary is a unique, totally creepy ghost that will send shivers down your spine.

There are three things that you need to remember after reading this interview with Chloë Grace Moretz: she spends way too much money on lederhosen, she loves her gay-friendly Russian fans, and she wants to star in a movie about a morbidly obese comic-book character whose super-power is sitting on people.
Prior to our knowing that last bit of information, we unwittingly put ourselves in harm's way by sitting down with Moretz to discuss (among other things) her new movie, Kimberly Peirce's modern retelling of the Stephen King classic "Carrie," in which she plays the titular telekinetic teen who goes on a bloody, vengeful rampage. Since she's clearly a fan of Twitter, we decided to let her fans ask most of the questions, in 140 characters or less, naturally.

The appeal of a Halloween attraction in one of the world's most famous haunted locations was just too good to pass up so Dread Central hit the road for Long Beach in our annual Southern California spook house quest. The Queen Mary has long been host to a variety of ghost-themed events, but they pulled out the big guns last year with their first annual Dark Harbor attraction. Now they're back for Round Two with five mazes and two scare zones that stretch inside and out of the infamous cruise ship.
While other events like Universal's Halloween Horror Nights tend to show you every gory detail, Dark Harbor gives you exactly what its name suggests: darkness. Many times you're left feeling your way through dark corridors in the bowels of the ship, while cleverly timed scares and high-pitched ghost screams (among the creepiest I've ever heard) frantically drive you through.

Our next stop on the Los Angeles haunted attractions (following incredible haunts on Halloween Horror Nights and Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor) is the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride. Now in its second year, this one is quickly becoming one of the local October hotspots and it’s a nice change of pace from your typical mazes and scare zones.
Lasting about 20 minutes, attendees are shuttled around on a farm-style hayride that takes you through numerous Texas Chainsaw-esque set pieces, a church of the damned and quite possibly the scariest evil clown room in existence. And like a lot of the L.A. haunted attractions, it’s great to see that this one doesn’t skip on the gore (we were squirted with placenta from a pregnant zombie at one point). Without giving anything away, there are also some of the most genuinely creepy images we’ve ever seen on a ride.

We here at Dread Central are big haunted attraction junkies, and you won’t find better theme park mazes than the ones in the greater Los Angeles area. But how many of them take place at an actual haunted location? If you want to get your Halloween thrills on in one of the world’s most infamous haunts, look no further than Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor in Long Beach, CA.
As if the Queen Mary weren’t creepy enough on its own, the twisted minds behind Dark Harbor have loaded it up with five haunted mazes, a stage with live bands, and an outdoor bar and lounge. Just don’t expect to drink in peace because the entire place is one giant scare zone with costumed freaks around every corner (we’re still not sure how many of the “ghosts” were actors).

Charles Dana Gibson at his summer home near Dark Harbor, Maine, 1940. Credit: Condé Nast Archive. Fashion week is generally about looking forward, assessing developing trends, and discovering new engines of creativity that are likely to determine the way people dress and define style in the months and years ahead. In Manhattan last week, tastemakers from all over the world attended elaborate runway shows and extravagant parties, searching for innovations that might suddenly spread like wildfire throughout popular culture. Ironically, though, the greatest expression of style and beauty that I encountered last week did not appear in a designer’s collection or at an ultra-exclusive industry celebration; instead, I found it during an overnight trip to Seven Hundred Acre Island, along coastal Maine. It was among the patrician members of the understated Down East community that I first heard the story of fashion’s historically famous “Gibson Girl,” and saw the...

The lobster tastes even better in the real outdoors. Photo Credit: Conde Nast Archive. A couple of years ago, a close friend of mine from Manhattan began spending his summers in Bar Harbor, Maine, not out of choice, necessarily, but because he had inherited a grand vacation home that once belonged to his grandparents. At just about this time each season, mid-July or the beginning of August, I can expect a call from him. It is a rare reminder that northeastern coastal Maine, which includes Northeast Harbor, Bar Harbor, Mount Desert, and Dark Harbor, remains a destination of choice for a number of America’s most affluent individuals and families. In recent years, East Hampton, Southampton, and, increasingly, Montauk have achieved renown as society’s resort towns du jour. Media coverage has followed in due course, as have a cavalcade of sometimes squabbling celebrities. Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and...

Takatsugu Naito's The Dark Harbor (Futoko) is a dramatic comedy that indicates the emergence of a genuine talent. The Dark Harbor is not perfect -- what film is? -- but the level of skill and style involved is obvious. This film is really a joy to watch.
Manzo Ishiguro (played by Hirooka Kazuki) is a fisherman who works on a boat he inherited from his father. Manzo works hard but is lonely. He joins a town-sponsored dating party in which numerous women from Tokyo come to the island. He shoots a video to introduce himself to the ladies. His pre-recorded lament is touching, but when the tape is shown at the big banquet, something strange happens: a beautiful woman and a young boy show up in the background. Who are they? How did they get in Manzo's house? Manzo doesn't know the answer to either of these questions. He doesn't seem particular concerned,...

In 1948, Malcolm “Mike” Johnson published a 24-part series on waterfront corruption in The New York Sun, inspiring a wave of investigations and scandals, and upending the long-held turf hierarchies without eradicating them. In 1954, his work yielded the far-better-remembered (and whitewashed) On The Waterfront. In 2010, with the benefit of hindsight, Nathan Ward’s first book, Dark Harbor: The War For The New York Waterfront reconstructs the landscape Johnson blasted into public consciousness, and its fallout. The trouble is, Ward doesn’t have much to add to the discussion. Brisk and well-organized, Dark Harbor is scarcely an immersive experience ...

John Travolta’s faith in Scientology remains firm. A July 25 report in Britain's Daily Mail newspaper claiming that Travolta, 55, had grown disenchanted with his longtime religion in the wake of his son Jett's death in January is "totally false," his rep Paul Bloch tells People. "There's no change in the relationship between the Church of Scientology and John," says Bloch. "He is a member and it's as it was, now and forever." The still-grieving actor, his wife Kelly Preston, 46, and their daughter Ella Bleu, 9, recently returned to one of their favorite spots: their oceanfront island home in Isleboro, Maine, where...

For My Bloody Valentine screenwriters Todd Farmer and Zane Smith, penning a script for a movie to be shot in the latest, most hi-tech version of 3-D yet did not pose any particular challenges. Nor did it call for them to dream up especially imaginative death scenes…at first.
“Certainly not initially,” says Farmer, whose previous credits include 2001’s Jason X and 2007’s The Messengers. “At first, we concentrated on characters and plot, because that’s really what we want to do. I mean, we’re all horror fans, so we’ve seen how some genre films have not pulled these things off. We wanted to tell an intriguing story, we wanted to have intriguing people—that was the first thing.
“But then I would be working on that aspect of it, and I would get a call in the middle of the night from my director,” Farmer continues, glancing over at the man himself,...

Fourteen titles have been announced which are first and second features in competition for Iffr's top honor, the Vpro Tiger award. The Hungry Ghosts, the directorial debut of Sopranos actor and Goodfella's Spider (haha!) will be opening the fest. Simon Ellis's debut feature Dogging: A Love Story which we reported on here will also be playing. The story revolves around the risque sex scene that is dogging which I guess has to do with voyeurism. The list is a good mixture of film from all over the planet, but I have yet to go through the rest.
