Jay Pritchett wasn’t always the best with words, and one particular moment proved it. Modern Family had myriad hilarious and heartfelt scenes, but Ed O’Neill held one especially close. It happened during a golf-related episode, where Jay’s reaction to a surprising revelation led to an unexpectedly emotional exchange.

Warning: This article includes Major Spoilers for Netflix's The Decameron.
Netflix's The Decameron is loosely based on the 14th-century collection of short stories, including the basic premise of fleeing the Plague. Characters and events in the show have little connection to Boccaccio's book, with new personalities and plotlines. The true book adaptation comes at the end of season 1, capturing the spirit of Boccaccio's work in the final five minutes.
Netflix's The Decameron shares its name with the 14th-century book by Giovanni Boccaccio, raising questions about how the two are connected. When the Black Plague first hit Italy in the summer of 1347 via Crimea, the disease devastated Italians, wiping out large chunks of the population, with high-density cities having higher rates of death. By 1348, the illness hit Florence, Italy so hard that the disease gained the nickname "the plague of Florence." In response, a poet and scholar named Giovanni Boccaccio...

Audiences can hope for future appearances from him in the Star Wars universe.

Movie posters are an important advertising element for a film. But what happens when they don't do such a great job in promoting their film?
Movie posters are supposed to be the first and most prominent promotional tool of a film. That makes them very important. Like trailers, they are meant to capture your attention. Unlike trailers, they are not supposed to give too much away. There are various techniques that have been used over the years to accomplish this task including bright colors, eye-catching fonts, and the prominent inclusion of big name stars’ faces. Graphic design as well as a general nod to the production design of the film are important components for every movie poster. Before the advent of computers,...

What do Walter White and Phil Dunphy have in common? They’re both at the center of the TV shows most honored by the Writers Guild of America today. The group just announced the nominees for its annual awards, which will be handed out Feb. 17 at simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York. Breaking Bad garnered five nods; Modern Family drew four. Here’s a list of all the primetime and late night series in contention for the event’s biggest prizes:

It’s a shame that the path of the television year must end on the Emmys, the awards show contained several highs, many lows and just some unfathomable results. Frustration, celebration, and embarrassment come to mind when mentioning the 2012 Emmys. Is it different any other year? No, not really. But its results sour the memory of a great year in television, right as we’re about to usher a new season this week at BuzzFocus. There were more deserving shows that were nominated but for whatever reasons unknown, the powers that be don’t agree.
The Academy of Television Arts & Science in some instances can look rather progressive. One minute they appear to have their shit together one moment–honoring Showtime’s Homeland, Outstanding Drama Series–but at the same time have their heads up their collective asses when they awarded ABC’s Modern Family nearly every major piece of hardware it could qualify for.

Well, that’s it. This years Emmy race is over and there are some familiar names amongst the winners… Modern Family once again dominates the comedy categories whilst Homeland surprises everyone and walks away with Best Drama and Best Leads in a Drama for it’s two stars. It;s nice to see Louis C.K. get an award for the excellent work he does on his “sitcom” Louie.

The results of the television awards ceremony of the year are always something to look forward to – the quality of the small screen has only been improving over the past decade or two, and it’s nice to see credit given where credit’s due.

The most-powerful lobbying group in America is the Writers Guild of America. By determining what we watch on TV and in the movies, these writers help shape America's views and set the standard for what is acceptable, normal and right. You probably saw your first interracial or same-sex kiss on a screen. What is put out there by Hollywood is a responsibility that shouldn't be taken lightly -- and one that "Modern Family's" writers and producers blew for me big time in this week's episode, "Virgin Territory."
For the record, I love the show. I love its smart humor and characters. What I didn't love in the episode "Virgin Territory" was the discovery that the 17-year-old character Haley was sexually active and, according to the story line, has been for a while. The revelation that ditzy Haley has been having sex with her even-dumber boyfriend came out of the blue.

Even the closest of loved ones don't know every little thing about each other. In "Virgin Territory," those on Modern Family uncovered secrets both new and old that managed to shake things up.
Usually it's a raucous dinner filled with wine and martinis that leads to spilling secrets, but in this case brunch was all it took for the Pritchetts and Dunphys to get the ball rolling. While the old school secrets about Claire leaving the convertible top down in the rain, were certainly entertaining, it was the newer stuff that I really loved.
Modern Day Secrets
Claire fakes going to yoga in order to go to a shooting range. She finally let Gloria in and, naturally, she showed her that she could hit the bullseye on the first try. Why am I not surprised? What a great revelation about Claire. One would totally buy the notion that she goes to yoga to unwind.

Hello, everybody! To start this week’s blog, I thought I’d try answering a few comments from last week, since you seem to like that, and frankly, so do I. (And yes, of Course, I read your comments! Sometimes twice! Are you kidding? I’m human, and a slightly neurotic human at that!)

Quoth the raven, "I'm a hot piece of ass".
If there's one role that's perfect for not exactly pretty actors, it's Edgar Allan Poe. The famed Victorian-era author of the macabre wasn't ugly by any means, but his high brows, odd-shaped head and eye bags along with his distinct personality means it's a role that seems tailor made for a good character actor rather than a handsome leading man.
That's why one bit of casting over the weekend is rather strange. 26-year-old Australian Chris Egan ("Resident Evil: Extinction," "Letters to Juliet") has been cast as the writer in ABC's "Poe", crime procedural which paints Poe as the world’s very first detective who uses unconventional methods to investigate dark mysteries in 1840s Boston.

The colourful, eccentric and never less than ostentatious Italian film producer and entrepreneur Dino De Laurentiis passed away at his Beverly Hills home yesterday. He was 91.
After producing his first features in the 1940's and teaming with producer Carlo Ponti on several prestigious Italian films in the 1950's, De Laurentiis turned his attention to what would become his trademark - ambitious, expensive and epic scale international co-productions more concerned with being popular entertainment than critically lauded.
Two studio complexes he built, one in Italy and later one in North Carolina, were both forced to close due to tough economic times and various famous flops he produced. Nevertheless with 166 films under his belt, De Laurentiis will long be remembered for many defining works.
Amongst his earlier credits were Federico Fellini's "La Strada" and "Nights of Cabiria", Roger Vadim’s “Barbarella”, Mario Camerini's "Ulysses", King Vidor's "War and Peace".

Famed film producer Dino De Laurentiis died early Thursday morning in Los Angeles, Variety has confirmed. He was 91.
Though he never directed a film, his name burst through the world of little-known producers, becoming one of the premiere names of both Italian cinema and Hollywood productions. His long career, spanning from pre-war Italy to 2007's trio of 'Hannibal Rising,' 'The Last Legion' and 'Virgin Territory,' stretched beyond genres and cinematic sentimentalities.
