I do not like reality shows at all, but Canada's Worst Driver is actually relevant to everyone. This show amazes me every time I watch it - no matter what season and how many times I watch the same challenges the "drivers" face. It astounds me the lack of common sense these drivers have BUT also TERRIFIES me that this show is able to easily find contestants year after year.
Between Highway Thru Hell, Canada's Worst Handyman and this show, I submit that Canada's best export is reality TV. The people are real, the situations are relatable, and there are no trite happy endings.
Compare that to American ''reality" TV which is highly scripted, fllled with frustrated actors, and little more than exhibitionism by narcissists.
Who can't relate to the trial and tribulations of shytty drivers. Either you're one, your married to one, or you know one. Plus, unlike most reality shows, which actually damage your brain and make you st--pider by watching, Canada's Worst Driver actually teachers viewers a thing or two if you're paying attention. Not only about driving, but about relationships.

I have found this show strangely appealing because it seems to combine horror films with reality. These people really drive the streets of the cities that my everyday life takes me to. I wish with all my heart that this show was faked. That these drivers were mere actors and every driver on the roads was capable and fit to be on the roads but, alas, although most of us have made a mistake or two from time to time there are people like those on this show that make mistakes while driving on a daily basis. worse yet when these people make small mistakes they magnify the problem by quickly losing control of the problem. So to sum this up. this show is like a good horror movie. I love it and hate it simultaneously. It gets under my skin because it deals with a real terror anyone who steps outside their door has to face. Bad drivers are everywhere and they can get you anywhere. Heck, we've all heard ill-fated stories of cars crashing right into homes. The horror. The horror.
It would be great to see how everybody is doing now, when it comes to drivers in the show. Just to see if people have improved at all. These shows have been interesting to watch. To see how useless drivers are in Canada. How idiotic people are as drivers. How some ppl see it as hilarious to drive so poorly all the time. To watch some of these drivers who are from Canada. How poor the driving system is to allow such terrible drivers on our roads. It's scary. Wish the had kept up with the seasons. I know there are terrible drivers now. There will always be terrible drivers who will need improvement.
Inherrently exploitative and emotionally manipulative/inconsistent. The show ping pongs between gawking at bad drivers and milking emotion with people who genuinely need help. Some tests are also way above skill level for beginners. Defensive driving is good to learn but if these aren't things taught in driver's ed, don't do them? It just comes across as setting people up to fail. The people on the show aren't good drivers and are often times stupid and inept, but the show is so smug.
Whatever. Reality tv is trash. Often times how awkward the editing is makes me laugh. If this wasn't televised it'd be 100 times more productive.
