Dax Tejera, the executive producer of This Week with George Stephanopoulos, died suddenly on Friday of a heart attack.
He was 37.
ABC News President Kim Godwin announced his passing in a memo to staffers, portions of which are copied below.
It’s with a heavy heart and great sadness that we share that our friend and colleague, Dax Tejera passed away suddenly of a heart attack last night.
As EP of This Week with George Stephanopoulos Dax’s energy, passion and love for that show, ABC News, and you, shined every Sunday morning. That same love was extended to his precious girls.
Our thoughts are with his wife, Veronica, the couple’s two young daughters, and the entire Tejera family.
Tejera was named executive producer of This Week in 2020, and the show rose to the top among Sunday shows in adults 25-54. He made his mark by sending its hosts out on location,...

New York (AP) — ABC News has hired Christiane Amanpour, one of CNN's best-known personalities for her hard-nosed reporting from war zones over the past two decades, to host its Sunday morning political talk show starting this summer. She replaces George Stephanopoulos, who left the show in December to take over as co-host of ABC's "Good Morning America." An Iran-born journalist whose expertise is in international stories, and who has complained about the lack of overseas news in the American news media, would seem an unusual choice for a job that has largely been devoted to discussions of political and domestic...

Christiane Amanpour is leaving CNN.
The reporter will greet viewers Sunday mornings on ABC's "This Week," reports Variety. She's taking over the spot that George Stephanopoulos vacated for the network's "Good Morning America."
Amanpour, 52, will also appear on other ABC News programs and in primetime documentaries, mainly on subjects with an international focus.
Her move from cable to network doesn't happen until August though, so Jake Tapper is filling in for "This Week" in the meantime.
In a memo from ABC News head David Westin said:
"With Christiane we have the opportunity to provide our audiences with something different on Sunday mornings. We will continue to provide the best in interviews and analysis about domestic politics and policies. But now we will add to that an international perspective.
"Christiane will bring the international and the domestic together, in the interviews she does and in the roundtable over which she presides.

After days of speculation, ABC News announced on Thursday that CNN veteran Christiane Amanpour will be the new anchor of "This Week."
She will also serve as an foreign affairs analyst on other ABC News programs and will be anchoring primetime documentaries on international subjects.
"A highly respected journalist recognized around the world for her reporting, she brings to her new position a wealth of experience and knowledge, as well as a deep commitment to bringing news of the world to the American people," ABC News president David Westin said in an internal email.
"This Week" has been without a permanent anchor since George Stephanopoulos left in December to anchor "Good Morning America."
Amanpour will take over the anchor chair in August. Until then, Jake Tapper will serve as interim anchor. Ian Cameron will continue as executive producer.

CNN’s star foreign correspondent Christiane Amanpour is reported to be considering an offer from ABC to take over as host of its Sunday talker “The Week.”
According to FishbowlDC, Amanpour has alerted colleagues that ABC has offered her the job and that there is a “50-50 chance” she will accept. (Which makes me wonder if this isn’t your typical contractual jockeying by a cable news star.)
Both networks declined to comment. I asked C...

Some might be quick to dismiss this week as part of the post-summer lull, but others might see it as a week of films that have been years in the making . it's been 13 since the now re-paired Robert De Niro and Al Pacino were last on screen together, while Diane English's remake of "The Women" took 12 to make it to the big screen, and the Flaming Lips' "Christmas on Mars" spent a mere seven years in the offing. As for fans of the Coen brothers, it only seems like forever since "No Country for Old Men."
"Able Danger"
Another week, another 9/11 conspiracy film, this one actually getting released on the seventh anniversary of the tragedy. Loosely inspired by "The Maltese Falcon," this Dv noir offers something of a date movie for far-left conspiracy theorists who take issue with perceived abuse of power on the part of our government.

There's something for everyone this week at the multiplex, what with Carrie and company offering something for the ladies with "Sex and the City," the Tae Kwon Do comedy "The Foot Fist Way" being an alternative for the guys, and "Savage Grace"... well, again, let's just say there's something for everyone.
"Bigger, Stronger, Faster*"
With everyone from Little League coaches to members of the U.S. Congress weighing in on the issue of performance enhancing drugs in sports, body builder (and former user) Christopher Bell injects his own story into this documentary that explores America's obsession with excellence and what it realistically takes to achieve it. Bell chronicles his own family's history of steroid use as a jumping off point to explore the wider love/hate relationship between professional athletes and performance enhancing drugs in a culture where winning is everything and there are no points for second place.

'Russert' transitions to MSNBC
NEW YORK -- Tim Russert's weekend talker is moving from CNBC to MSNBC.
The move comes as the business channel prepares to do head-to-head battle with Fox Business Network for the hearts and minds of Wall Street and Main Street. Its cable-news sibling is trying to shore up its reputation as the go-to place for politics.
Russert, who is moderator of Meet the Press and NBC's Top Dog in Washington, doesn't just interview politicians and journalists on Tim Russert. He has in the past interviewed everyone from President Bush and first lady Laura Bush to Tom Hanks, Caroline Kennedy and Derek Jeter.
Meanwhile, Press celebrated 10 straight seasons on top of the Sunday-morning ratings with wins in viewership and the adults 25-54 demographic. It averaged 3.6 million viewers, compared with CBS' Face the Nation (2.7 million), ABC's This Week (2.6 million) and Fox's Fox News Sunday (1.3 million).
Also, CNBC said Tuesday that Maria Bartiromo and Chris Matthews would co-anchor a Republican candidate debate TuesdayOct. 9 from Dearborn, Mich., to be televised live on CNBC and rebroadcast later in the day on MSNBC.
