Mike Flanagan has his hands full with Stephen King adaptations between his upcoming movie The Life of Chuck and the two he has in development: Carrie and The Dark Tower. We don't have much new info about The Dark Tower yet, but a new exclusive from Variety suggests casting has found its Carrie White in Child's Play star Summer H. Howell.

The outlet says a deal is close to being finalized, though none of the people directly involved have responded to requests for comment.

Flanagan's take on Carrie has been in development since October 2024. Amazon hasn't formally ordered the show into a series, but if Howell is cast, then an official pickup is likely to follow. The series is based on King's iconic 1974 novel, most famously adapted for the Oscar-nominated 1976 movie starring Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.

BBC Sets Feature On Fire At Bradford Soccer Match

The BBC is making a feature doc about a tragic fire at a Bradford soccer match that preceded the Hillsborough disaster. On the 40th anniversary of the tragedy, the BBC said Unforgotten: The Bradford City Fire (working title) will provide “the definitive record of a forgotten tragedy, as told through the compelling personal testimony of those who were there, many of whom speak here for the first time.” The fire is believed to have been started by a discarded cigarette or match at half time of Bradford City’s game with Lincoln City in 1985. The number of lives lost reached 56 and the event made headlines around the world but has since been somewhat forgotten, overshadowed by the Hillsborough disaster that took place four years later. Simon Young, BBC Head of Commissioning, History, said: “This film gets at the heart of a modern dilemma.

Hereditary, Old, and A Quiet Place: Day One star Alex Wolff is preparing to helm his sophomore feature, the dark psychological thriller If She Burns, in which he’ll also star. The multi-hyphenate talent recently provided Deadline with an update on the film, teasing a “dark, emotional” ride ahead.

If She Burns will also star Victoria Pedretti (“You,” “The Haunting of Hill House”), Asa Butterfield (All Fun and Games, Flux Gourmet, Choose ofDie) and Justice Smith (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, The Quarry).

Netflix has shared the official trailer, posters, and photos for Time Cut, an upcoming sci-fi slasher film directed by Hannah Macpherson, who co-wrote the script with Michael Kennedy. Kennedy wrote the story.

In Time Cut, Madison Bailey plays a teenage girl who travels back to the early 2000s to stop a vicious killer from murdering her sister, played by Antonia Gentry. The movie will be available to stream on October 30, just in time for Halloween.

The cast includes Madison Bailey, Antonia Gentry, Michael Shanks, Griffin Gluck, Rachael Crawford, and Jordan Pettle.

Megan Best, Samuel Braun, Sydney Sabiston, and Kataem O’Connor round out the cast.

The Ace Entertainment production began principal photography on July 6, 2021, and filming ended in August 2021. Matt Kaplan and Christopher Landon are the producers.

The executive producers include Christopher Foss, Matthew Janzen, Max Siemers, and Aubrey Bendix. The cinematography was by Tony Mirza and the late Halyna Hutchins.

A new sci-fi slasher horror outing from Netflix could make for the perfect viewing this spooky season. The streaming giant has now announced that the horror flick, titled Time Cut, will land on the platform just in time for Halloween on October 30, 2024, with the story mashing together the time travel shenanigans of Back to the Future with the slasher frights of Scream for a terrifying, timey-wimey delight.

Directed by Hannah MacPherson, who is best known for the mystery thriller T@gged and the fantasty drama series School Spirits, MacPherson co-wrote Time Cut alongside the mind behind 2020s body-swap horror flick Freaky and last years Christmas horror comedy outing It's a Wonderful Knife, Michael Kennedy.

European producer-financier Anton and global talent management outfit Range Media Partners are teaming up for a development slate of European feature films.

The creative strategic alliance comes as Anton expands its U.K. and European production activities and Range Media Partners broadens its own development and production pipeline internationally.

The two companies have created an International Feature Development Fund that will be used to identify, option and develop IP from across Europe. Both companies will oversee the creative production process, commissioning scripts and working with U.K. and European talent.

Exclusive: Horror-thriller All Fun And Games, starring Asa Butterfield (Sex Education) and Natalia Dyer (Stranger Things), begins production today in Canada with joining cast including Benjamin Evan Ainsworth — who has the title role in Disney’s upcoming Pinocchio — Keith David (Greenleaf) and Annabeth Gish (The Fall of the House of Usher).

The Anton and Agbo production, which is going through the latter’s Gozie Agbo banner, was a buzz title among buyers at the recent EFM market in Berlin. Anthony and Joe Russo are among exec producers.

The story follows two kids who play a game with their sadistic older cousin and awaken a cruel entity knows as ‘The Skarrow.’ Co-directors are Ari Costa (second unit on Extraction and Avengers: Endgame) and Eren Celeboglu (The Internet Kills).

Pre-sales inked out of Berlin by Anton include Square One for Germany; Sun Distribution Group for Spain, Portugal and Latin America; Rialto for Australia and N.

British auteur Peter Strickland is back with his fifth feature, “Flux Gourmet,” and it is as striking and uncompromising as his previous body of work, which includes “In Fabric” (2018), “The Duke of Burgundy” (2014), “Berberian Sound Studio” (2012) and “Katalin Varga” (2009). “Flux Gourmet” world premieres at the Berlin Film Festival’s Encounters strand on Feb. 11.

The film follows a sonic collective trio with rocky interpersonal dynamics, who take up residency at an institute devoted to culinary and alimentary performance and have to answer to the institute’s head, who has her own opinions about their work. Their chronicler, meanwhile, is dealing with stomach problems.

Exclusive: Bay Mills Studios, the production company set up by brothers Shamier Anderson and Stephan James, has bolstered its executive team with two new hires.

The company has hired Holly Hubsher joins as VP, Development & Production and Tse Daniel has been appointed Director of Development.

Hubsher previously worked at film and TV financier Anton, where she worked on Gerard Butler’s Greenland and Netflix’s Curs>R. She is an exec producer on Agbo’s horror movie All Fun and Games and was previously at Universal Pictures and WME. She is based in LA.

Daniel joins from The Black Academy, a Black-led organization, co-founded by Shamier Anderson and Stephan James, dedicated to breaking down barriers of discrimination and combating systemic racism in Canada. He is based in Toronto.

Producer and financier Anton has hired Leslie Chen as senior VP, international distribution and sales and has elevated consultant Louis Balsan to executive VP, international distribution and acquisitions.

They will be part of Anton’s German office and will report into Paris-based Cécile Gaget, president of international production and distribution. Chen and Balsan will be at the upcoming 2022 Berlinale and European Film Market where Anton is launching international sales on horror thriller “All Fun And Games,” starring Asa Butterfield and Natalia Dyer, co-produced with Agbo. Anton is also co-selling Claire Denis’ “Both Sides Of The Blade” with Wildbunch, which is premiering in competition at the festival.

Chen was previously AGC Studios’ senior VP of Asian sales and distribution, overseeing big budget projects such Roland Emmerich’s “Moonfall” and Pierre Morel’s “Freelance” and has had prior stints in China with Im Global and Huayi Brothers Media Corporation.

In addition, Louis Balsan has been elevated to executive vice president of international distribution and acquisitions. Both will be part of Anton’s German office reporting directly to Paris-based Cécile Gaget, president of international production and distribution.
