There’s a memorable scene in the movie Elf in which Will Ferrell bursts into his dad’s office during a business meeting, twirls with glee, and proclaims, “I’m in love, I’m in love, and I don’t care who knows it!” If you took this four-second clip and played it 1,160 consecutive times, you’d get the equivalent of Chance the Rapper’s 77-minute debut album The Big Day—a tribute to Chance’s wife, Kirsten Corley, and a companion album to their wedding, which took place earlier this year in March.

While you’re still celebrating the ability to binge-watch “Friends” in 2019 on Netflix, Jennifer Aniston is talking about a reunion. On Thursday’s “Late Late Show,” the woman behind Rachel is ready to do more original episodes of the classic “Must-See TV” NBC sitcom.
Oh, and so are Monica (Courteney Cox) and Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), she says.
“Listen, the girls always say we would love to do it again, and the boys are a little less excited about it for some reason — I don’t know,” Aniston told James Corden last night. “And so, we’ve decided that we’ll just do … a remake of ‘The Golden Girls’ in 40 years.”

While she’s made the “Golden Girls” quip before, it sounded like the female trio is actually down for whatever.

If your guilty pleasures expand to include Hallmark-style sentimentality this time of year, you might consider adding “Dumplin'” to your viewing lineup. It has nothing to do with the holiday season, but it’s wrapped as neatly as any gift you might find under a Christmas tree.
Though directed by rom-com vet Anne Fletcher and written by producer Kristin Hahn (“The Departed”), this modest dramedy — which is being released simultaneously in theaters and on Netflix — is a far better fit for the small screen. But a big heart and strong cast go a long way towards elevating its prosaic approach.
Most of the credit goes to the two leads, Jennifer Aniston and Danielle Macdonald, who play a markedly mismatched mother and daughter. Aniston’s strenuously meticulous Rosie was, as she’ll happily remind anyone who asks, 1991’s Miss Teen Blue Bonnet. This might not seem like much to us,...

Jimmy Kimmel had a (wish)bone to pick with Jennifer Aniston on Wednesday night. Well, the “Friends” actress has a pretty big one to pick with him, too.
The ABC late-night personality griped to his guest that her night-before-Thanksgiving gathering, which the Kimmels have attended for a few years running now, takes some of the momentum away from his own holiday party.
“I’m making the same thing everyone had the night before, again,” Kimmel said. “In essence, you’re turning my meal into leftovers.”

Aniston is willing to consider changing up her annual Friendsgiving menu, but she wants a little tit for tat.
“If we do this, can we talk about your children not using my backyard as a bathroom?” she asked Kimmel.

Mexico City -- Freshman filmmaker Mariana Chenillo made history Tuesday night in becoming the first woman director to win an Ariel Award for best Mexican picture with her Jewish-themed dramedy "Five Days Without Nora."
The Cacerola Films-produced "Five Days" walked away with seven statuettes at the 52nd Ariel Awards ceremony, including best first work, original screenplay, actor (Fernando Lujan) and supporting actress (Angelina Palaez).
Best director went to veteran helmer Carlos Carrera for his crime thriller "Backyard," which also nabbed best actress for Asur Zagada.
The only other picture to win multiple awards was the quirky comedy "Meet the Head of Juan Perez." Emilio Portes' first work got a supporting actor nod for Jose Sefami and three wins in technical categories.
In the Ibero-American competition, the Argentine thriller "The Secret in Their Eyes" beat out the Peru-Spain co-production "The Milk of Sorrow" and the Chile-Mexico collaboration "The Maid." "Secret...

Tina Mabry's "Mississippi Damned," an independent American production, won the Gold Hugo as the best film in the 2009 Chicago International Film Festival, and added Gold Plaques for best supporting actress (Jossie Thacker) and best screenplay (Mabry). It tells the harrowing story of three black children growing up in rural Mississippi in circumstances of violence and addiction. The film's trailer and an interview with Mabry are linked at the bottom.

The win came over a crowed field of competitors from all over the world, many of them with much larger budgets. The other big winner at the Pump Room of the Ambassador East awards ceremony Saturday evening was by veteran master Marco Bellocchio of Italy, who won the Silver Hugo as best director for "Vincere," the story of Mussolini's younger brother. Giovanna Mezzogiorno and Filippo Timi won Silver Hugos as best actress and actor,...

This one slipped passed us somehow when it released in Mexico in February but we’ve got it now, and good thing. The selling point for Carlos Carrera’s El Trapatio in North America will probably be the presence of Jimmy Smits in the cast but south of the border there’s no need for Smits’ star power. Carreras himself is a big deal - he directed arthouse hit The Crime of Father Amaro - and this story is based on a real life serial killer case. And, honestly, all of that doesn’t matter so much either because this film is also blessed with one mighty effective trailer, beautifully shot and filled with the sort of gritty realism that makes the best of the current Mexican wave really sing. Check it below the break.
