Becky Makes a Wish

Mr. Conductor: Now, be careful, Becky. Remember, almost everything that people do in the world starts out as a wish.

Mr. Conductor: [concerned] Oh, I don't think that would be a very good idea. You see, a wishing star is a shooting star. Very hard to control. There's no telling what would happen if...

Schemer: [suddenly walks in] Hey, kid.

[Mr. Conductor quickly disappears, accidentally leaving his wish bag behind]

Schemer: What're you doing?

Becky: Oh, hi, Schemer. Nothing, I wasn't doing anything.

Schemer: No? Playing with the jukebox?

Becky: No.

Schemer: Playing with the machine?

Becky: No.

Schemer: Hey, kid, this is not a lending library, it's an arcade. You catch my drift?Good, all right, out, out, out, out, out, out, out. Hey, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.

[picks up the wish bag]

Schemer: What's this?

Becky: It's not mine.

Schemer: It's not?

[guffaws]

Schemer: Alright! Finders, keepers, losers, weepers!

[laughs, then begins to open the bag]

Schemer: And, hey, this could be my lucky day. Who knows? There could be a nickel in here. Or, hey, maybe there's two nickels in here!

Becky: No, Schemer, don't!

[too late; Schemer raids the bag, accidentally turning the wishing star loose]
