Housefull 2 contains gags galore. Laughs? Well, not as many as you’d expect in a 180-minute marathon mirth machine. Somehow, the jokes get choked in the comic ritual of repetition. Once you figure out who’s who and who’s ha-ha in the farce fest, the attempts to cram as many characters into every frame as humanly possible begins to take its toll on the comic equilibrium of this tale of intermittent titters and some genuine laughs.

So what’s Housefull 2 about? Wrong question. Beyond a point, it’s only about keeping the embers of satire alive by hook or by over-cook. Somewhere down the line, the witticism wears thin. But there are comic actors of terrific aptitude holding aloft the thinner segments in the farcical fabric.

Written and directed by Sukumar, ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna. The story is about a labourer Pushpa Raj, who smuggles red sandalwood in the Seshachalam Hills of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh.

Shreyas recalled working with the team of ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ and said: “When I dubbed for the first part, I had never imagined for the film to go so big, and this time when I returned to dub, I knew how huge a project this was. Actress Jacqueline Fernandez feels people are "extremely ignorant" to think successful people have not seen the dark side of life, and says it is difficult to hide real emotions and put up a smiling face in public all the time.

"People will be extremely ignorant to think that anyone who has achieved any form of success has not seen the dark side. For me I think the hardest thing is keeping a smile on my face when I'm not happy. The hardest thing has been not being rude when I really wanna snap. It's actually has been the hardest thing for me because we are all human," Jacqueline said.

The biggest film of 2016 so far, Housefull 3, is all set to take a good opening at the Box Office. So far, Bollywood has seen good hits in Airlift, Baaghi, Kapoor & Sons, Neerja and Ki & Ka. However, the only two films that did business at an all-India level were Akshay Kumar’s Airlift and Sajid Nadiadwala’s Baaghi. Now that the actor and the producer are coming together with Housefull 3 (which has Ki & Ka producer Eros joining them as well), expectations are of a film that would perform well across A, B and C centers.

In fact surprising as it may sound but right through 2016, there hasn’t been a single ‘big film’ release that caters to all segments of audience. That pretty much establishes how most of the filmmakers seem to have alienated a good chunk of the population of the country while focusing solely on 8-10 major cities.

In the industry ruled by corporate houses, Bollywood currently has only a handful of independent producers. Amongst these, other than Yash Raj Films and Dharma Productions, the only other notable production house which is delivering successes by the dozen is Nadiadwala Grandson.

With as many as three 100 crore successes to its name, Nadiadwala Grandson has an eventful year ahead with Housefull 3, Dishoom and Rangoon as its next three releases.

“It all started with Housefull 2 which was a 100 crore success. The film opened the floodgates for Sajid Nadiadwala and he went on to deliver another 100 crore success soon enough in the form of 2 States. This was it as soon enough, he donned the director’s hat himself and made a rollicking debut with Kick which went on to be a 200 crore Blockbuster,” a trade expert comments.

Baaghi has turned out to be a huge success and is now set to go past the 75 crore mark. With this, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has opened his 2016 campaign with style and as always is playing on the front foot. While his next release Housefull 3 is all set to open huge as well on 3rd June, the game is also set for his third release of 2016, Dishoom, which is slated for a July release.

“What makes Dishoom special is the fact that Sajid is making a film with Varun Dhawan for the first time ever. The young star has been enjoying a cent percent record so far after a double hat-trick (since the release of Student of the Year) and it would be interesting to see him in a Nadiadwala Grandson set up,” informs our source.

There was quite some surprise in store when Airlift collected more on its 15th day when compared to the 14th day. Despite the release of Ghayal Once Again and Sanam Teri Kasam, the film didn’t see a slide in collections on Friday. The trend continued on Saturday and Sunday as well, what with the film continuing to mint moolah. As a result, 8.5 crore* more came in the third weekend.

With this, the film has now collected around 121 crore* at the Box Office in 17 days. These are very good numbers for the film and the weekend trend has ensured that the lifetime total would be around 130 crore.

As for the records that have already been broken, the Akshay Kumar film has now left behind Holiday (113 crore) and Housefull 2 (116 crore**).

Akshay Kumar’s Airlift was clearly the choice of audience over the weekend gone by. Even in its second weekend, it did better than the new releases (Mastizaade, Saala Khadoos) which tells the tale. After holding quite well on Friday, it started escalating on Saturday and Sunday, hence resulting in a bountiful weekend of 19 crore*. As a result, the film now currently stands at 102.5 crore*.

With this, the film has now crossed the 100 crore mark in 10 days flat, an achievement by all means, especially considering the fact that this was a niche drama in the offering with offbeat cinema meeting commercial parameters. Director Raja Menon is now the newest entrant into the 100 crore club and he has managed that with a film which would gain him a lot of respect as well as commercial viability.

Star presence of Akshay Kumar has further helped the film reach out to a larger section of the audience.
