Homestead

It is bad enough when movies like Dune and Wicked do not advertise themselves as being part one of a two part movie. Homestead takes that deceitfulness to a whole new level! It is not a movie - it is a two hour pilot for a TV show. I groaned when they showed a montage of upcoming scenes, like chapter one of Horizon: An American Saga did. And then became outright angry as it was revealed that the scenes were from an upcoming TV series rather than a second movie.

Without the deceitful marketing, I'd probably rate it a 5 or a 6. The fact that it is only a TV pilot somewhat explains things like the extraneous storyline with the sister and her family, which contributed nothing to this particular episode. There was potential here, but certainly did not get me interested enough to move past being lied to.
