The Hallmark Channel has set the Season 12 premiere date for the popular When Calls the Heart as 9 p.m. Sunday, January 5.

News of the release date came in a surprise teaser promo which ran during star Erin Krakow’s Christmas movie on the network, Santa Tell Me, which also features her original series co-star Daniel Lissing. (You can watch it below.)

Back in September, Hallmark announced that Melissa Gilbert will guest star in a two-episode arc in the role of Georgie McGill, who “shares a surprising past with one special Hope Valley resident.”

In addition to leads Krakow and Kevin McGarry, the beloved, veteran romantic drama series stars Pascale Hutton (Fourth Down and Love), Jack Wagner (Melrose Place), Chris McNally (Holiday Crashers), Kavan Smith (Big Sky River: The Bridal Path) and Viv Leacock (Legend of the Lost Locket).

There lived a carpenter, Jamesm, who was madly in love with a girl named Wilma, the daughter of a marquis. Naturally, her father wasn’t too keen on their marriage because of their different social statuses. Wilma had a special locket that was given to Queen Elizabeth by her true love, Sir Dudley. To show her love for James and to keep their bond strong even when apart, Wilma broke the locket in half and gave one piece to James. The idea was that when they met again, their love would be fulfilled, and the locket would bring them back together. Determined to make a fortune, James left Sussex with the hope of returning to Wilma. As per the legend, the magical locket had the power to reunite true lovers. Now, fast forward to the present day, where Legend of the Lost Locket brings its protagonist, Amelia, the owner of an antique shop.

Get ready for a double dose of Natasha Burnett and Viv Leacock on Hallmark. When Calls the Heart is finally back for Season 11, and Burnett’s teaming up with Leacock in the brand-new Hallmark movie Legend of the Lost Locket. Antiques expert Amelia (played by Burnett) begins working alongside Marcus (played by Leacock), the town sheriff, to search for a lost locket that grants the wearer true love. Amelia and Marcus have a “completely different” dynamic than Burnett and Leacock’s When Calls the Heart characters, Minnie and Joseph Canfield. This spring, Hallmark Channel offers a lineup of feel-good, romantic movies to start the season off right. The event kicks off on Saturday, at 8 pm Et/Pt with the first new, original movie, Switching Gears.
