Mike Flanagan has his hands full with Stephen King adaptations between his upcoming movie The Life of Chuck and the two he has in development: Carrie and The Dark Tower. We don't have much new info about The Dark Tower yet, but a new exclusive from Variety suggests casting has found its Carrie White in Child's Play star Summer H. Howell.
The outlet says a deal is close to being finalized, though none of the people directly involved have responded to requests for comment.
Flanagan's take on Carrie has been in development since October 2024. Amazon hasn't formally ordered the show into a series, but if Howell is cast, then an official pickup is likely to follow. The series is based on King's iconic 1974 novel, most famously adapted for the Oscar-nominated 1976 movie starring Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.

There are quite a few names thrown around when fans are asked who should play the Caped Crusader in the Dcu. Jake Gyllenhaal, Armie Hammer, Ben Barnes, Ben Barnes, and Alan Ritchson are some big ones, arguably the most commonly thrown around name is Brandon Sklenar. Known for his roles in Midway, The Offer, Green and Gold, It Ends With US, and 1923, Sklenar isn't quite a household name yet, but he's definitely known among Batman and DC fans.
In a new interview with ScreenRant's Andy Behbakht, Sklenar is well aware of how popular a choice he is among fans to play Bruce Wayne, and he is one hundred percent on board with the idea.
“I mean, for Batman? Let's keep running with that! That's something I've wanted to do since I was a little kid -- and I've never even talked about it -- It just started happening and I was like,...

Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves shut down many haters with their film The Batman, which raked in both positive reviews and millions of dollars. A sequel was immediately announced, and fans have been eagerly waiting for it ever since 2022. However, The Batman 2 faced significant delay due to the unavailability of both Reeves and Pattinson.
As for Reeves, he shifted his focus to another project in the Batman universe, focusing on Colin Farrell’s villain, The Penguin. Reeves’ HBO series was a huge hit with critics and viewers. He is set to produce other DC projects, including Mike Flanagan’s standalone film, Clayface.

CinemaCon had everyone looking to the skies with an extended look at Superman! Now the footage has been made available online for everyone to see (and avoid the need to go and sit through A Minecraft Movie for the privilege). With the arrival of the Man of Steel comes the beginning of the Dcu, with James Gunn’s reboot now releasing our second epic trailer for the comic book movie outing. Written and directed by James Gunn, Superman stars David Corenswet in the dual role of Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
Superman will also feature a whole host of other characters from across the DC universe, including Edi Gathegi (For All Mankind) as Michael Holt/Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason/Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced (Alien: Romulus) as Hawkgirl, and,...

48 hours after Superman’s dog Krypto charmed the crowd at CinemaCon, filmmaker James Gunn has released the footage that he brought to the Las Vegas convention.
The new look at Superman follows a trailer released in December, and comes ahead of Gunn’s promised Summer of Superman — season long, full-court press on DC Studios’ first movie movie. The film’s success will help determine the fate of the fledgling Warner Bros. Discovery division. DC has an ambition slate of projects in development, with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Clayface dated for next year at the box office, as well as TV shows such as Lanterns and Peacemaker season two coming up.
At Cinemacon, Gunn and stars David Corenswet (Superman), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane) and Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor) shared stories from set, while DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran talked up the inspirations for Krypto, noting the canine was inspired by Gunn’s real dog,...

James Gunn has weighed on what he thinks makes David Corenswet the perfect choice to play Superman. We’re now officially less than 100 days away from the release of Superman, which will introduce the world to the Twisters and Pearl star as the new Man of Steel. All signs point to Corenswet being the perfect choice to bring Clark Kent to life, but he will certainly have his work cut out for him taking over the role from Henry Cavill. During a recent interview with Time Magazine, Gunn revealed the one condition that any actor had to agree to before taking on the role, and also confirmed what made him ultimately decide to go with Corwenswet over the several other people also auditioned:
"They treated everyone with kindness and respect. I’ve seen sets that cater to an actor or director’s ego and that’s just not something that would happen with David.

Hype for Superman is rapidly building, though Warner Bros.' underwhelming CinemaCon panel hasn't contributed much to it.
Those in attendance have complained that the presentation as a whole was boring, lamenting the fact they were only shown the 5-minute preview set to play in front of A Minecraft Movie this weekend.
Entertainment Weekly spoke with James Gunn in Las Vegas and asked the filmmaker whether he based Superman on a specific comic book storyline.
"I would say it's an original story, but the tone and the look of the film, in many ways, is inspired by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's All-Star Superman," he shared. "I read that comic book, and it really has this feeling of the big, old-school, science-fiction Silver Age comics. We have robots and monster babies and giant kaiju and all of that stuff."

Sony Pictures came out slinging some serious webs at CinemaCon as the studio offered huge updates on not only its two upcoming Spider-Man projects, but also, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Karate Kid: Legends. However, it’s now James Gunn and Superman’s turn. Warner Bros. Pictures' highly anticipated two-hour presentation begins today (Apr. 1) at 4:30 p.m. Pdt., and the co-chair and co-ceo of DC Studios is facetiously sounding off about what a "pain in the ass" Superman star David Corenswet prior to the panel. Gunn praised the actor in an unusual (but understandable) way during an interview with Time:
"David's a pain in the ass because he asks a ton of questions about every single little moment. But I honestly think my favorite moments were when I would get irritated by his endless questions and indulge him anyway, and then I’d see him turn...

Sony Pictures' CinemaCon panel takes place later tonight, and while a Spider-Man 4 announcement isn't guaranteed, there's a lot of chatter on social media about some kind of reveal relating to Tom Holland's next solo outing as the wall-crawler.
For now, a poster for the movie has been spotted alongside artwork for a number of other major upcoming releases, including Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Clayface, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, and more.
Most of these are clearly placeholders and nothing close to official posters, but at the very least, they may give us some idea of what to expect from the final title logos (the Clayface art also features the tagline "Shape Your Fear").

CinemaCon as an annual event does not have quite the same name recognition of something like San Diego Comic-Con. After all, it’s a convention for regional theater owners from across the country talking about theatrical windows and looking new models of projectors.
And yet, increasingly, the major movie studios treat CinemaCon like it is Comic-Con. Fanboy bloggers are invited, the top trailers and new footage teases are touted, and a parade of A-listers take the stage at the Caesar’s Palace Colosseum with pre-written hype sessions about their upcoming films.
No, not every year at the annual Las Vegas convention is as eventful as the one in which Olivia Wilde was served divorce papers on stage or when we were all convinced by some screaming fans that “The Flash” was going to be huge, but there’s quite a bit we’re curious to see this year on that (very) big screen.

While DC fans have Superman on their mind with his new film hitting theaters this Summer, arguably the most popular character in that popular comic universe remains to be Batman. The protector of Gotham City has appeared in countless movies, TV shows and comics in his 85-year history. He also changed the merchandising game when Tim Burton's Batman was released in 1989. Over 35 years later, the character is still a major part of DC’s marketing push with McFarlane Toys delivering the heroic goods when it comes to high-quality action figures. Now their latest Batman figure has the Justice League member ready for an epic battle.
A part of McFarlane's DC Multiverse line of figures, this seven-inch scale piece is Batman’s Final Batsuit from Justice League: The Sixth Dimension. The famous toy company has made a ton of Batman figures in the last half decade, but known quite like this.

Giancarlo Esposito is ready and willing to play another comic book villain after playing Sidewinder in Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World. According to the actor, he wants to chill in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe as the sub-zero-suit-wearing villain Mr. Freeze. While Matt Reeves’s The Batman operates outside the primary canon of the rebooted Dcu, The Brave and the Bold, featuring Batman and Robin, is on the docket. Esposito could play the mad scientist Victor Fries in the Dcu’s upcoming Batman film, and fans would love to see it happen.

Alan Ritchson is one of the most common fancasts for the Caped Crusader within the newly birthed Dcu. He’s proven he can act in Reacher and is not a stranger when it comes to superhero universes having starred as Hawk in Titans and made an appearance as Aquaman in Smallville, and he definitely has the physical presence to be a very menacing version of Batman. Although, he’s still most recognizable to many folks as Thad Castle from Blue Mountain State.
Now, Ritchson’s Reacher co star Roberto Montesino has weighed in on Ritchson playing the Dark Knight, and he loves the idea. Speaking to ScreenRant, Montesino had the following to say:

Warner Bros. has shifted its upcoming release rescheduling, resulting in new dates for three highly-anticipated genre titles.
Weapons, Zach Cregger‘s follow-up to Barbarian, has been bumped up to August 8, 2025. Previously scheduled for January 16 of next year, the summer release shows the studio’s confidence in the project.
Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, Austin Abrams, Amy Madigan, and June Diane Raphael star in the horror epic about a small community after a group of kids mysteriously disappear overnight.
Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride!, originally due out on September 26, 2025, has been pushed to March 6, 2026; a time frame that WB has found success with big genre projects.
Inspired by Bride of Frankenstein, the monster movie stars Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale, Penélope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, and Annette Bening.
Flowervale Street, from It Follows writer-director David Robert Mitchell, has moved from March 13, 2026 to August 14, 2026 in an effort to take advantage of late-summer audiences.

Warner Bros. seemingly has been going through damage control for the last few years. While the more notorious stories about the studio’s shake-ups come from their DC films department, David Zaslav’s reign has also included the way their streaming service alters its library and information, as well as the shockingly shortened theatrical release windows given to newly premiered films. As the company attempts to recover from the reported $100 million loss on films like Mickey 17, according to Deadline, the Water Tower studio is shuffling their schedule as a strategy to keep them in the black and out of the red.
A lot of the schedule changes were affected by the movies that the studio had already booked for IMAX theaters. Premium screens are coveted for big movie releases and Warners was careful not to lose the precious commodity. The company would also move potential tentpoles up into this...

Warner Bros has just made some razor-sharp release-date changes ahead of CinemaCon, ones that could potentially keep the Burbank, CA lot more toward the black this year than in the red.
In a year when there were four $100 million-plus auteur-driven movies — one of which, Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17, recently misfired — Warners Bros distribution has taken the pressure off the studios’ schedule in that regard, and even placed a potential tentpole into the year: Zach Cregger’s anticipated genre movie Weapons on August 8.

James Gunn recently confirmed what everyone assumed about how long Jason Momoa was being considered to play Lobo in the Dcu. In December 2024, Momoa was announced as the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo for the Dcu in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Yet, even before Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hit theaters and ended the Dceu, many fans were expecting Momoa to return, just not as the king of the seven seas, but as the main man himself.

James Gunn has confirmed that the film will be set in the Dcu, but it seems the original plan was to introduce the villain in Matt Reeves' BatVerse.

The success of DC’s Joker movie (not the sequel) certainly has inspired other similar projects and it seems that James Gunn is hoping that a similar project of his Dceu era will have the same amount of success soon.
The project in question is the solo Clayface movie, which will explore the story of Basil Karlo from a horror perspective. The projects definitely sounds promising, and with a script by horror legend Mike Flanagan, Decu is slowly heading towards a sure hit. In light of that, we have some potentially great news for the fans!

When describing Mike Flanagan’s screenplay pitch and potential director James Watkins’ vision for bringing Clayface to the screen, co-ceo of DC Studios James Gunn said that “their version of that movie, it is so real and true and psychological and body horror and gross.” Peter Safran used the words “indie style chiller” when explicitly describing the movie. But still, the question remains. Why? Out of all the Batman villains available, out of all the “obscure” DC characters you can choose for a spotlight movie, why choose this one in particular for the just-birthed Dcu? If you take a look at Gunn’s filmography, the man does have a creative affinity for the horror genre. 2006’s Slither, 2016’s The Belko Experiment, and 2019’s Brightburn prove this.
But when it comes to Clayface, why is the newly announced solo movie moving so fast? Can it be that “one of the best...

Though we don't have any word on an actor DC Studios might be considering to play the lead role of Basil Karlo in Clayface, a new rumor is claiming that casting is currently underway for a female character named "Caitlin Bates."
There is no one by this name in the comics, and scooper Daniel Richtman speculates that it might actually be Caitlin Snow, aka Killer Frost. Though they are both villains, Frost and Clayface have faced off a number of times in the comics, and also joined forces on occasion.
This is just one theory, of course. A gender-swapped Hannibal Bates, aka Everyman, is also a possibility since the villain is a fellow shape-shifter. Or, Caitlin Bates might simply turn out to be... Caitlin Bates!

We just recently bid our farewells to 2024 — a year that was unusually quiet when it came to new superhero projects. DC released only one single live-action movie in the form of Joker: Folie à Deux, while the Marvel Cinematic Universe followed the exact same path with Deadpool & Wolverine. Granted, there were some amazing series such as The Penguin and Agatha All Along to fill in the gaps. But amidst a creative reboot in DC's offices and Marvel rethinking their release strategy moving forward, there's no denying it was an uncharacteristically dry year. On the bright side, 2025 will be anything but, and things will only get better as we head into 2026.
Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man 4, Clayface, and more will be released in 2026. But if that wasn't enough, it was recently confirmed two highly anticipated Marvel series will arrive in the same time window. Not only will it be a very busy year for audiences,...

Unlike the previous Dceu, whose attempt at replicating the MCU formula failed exponentially, the new regime under James Gunn and Peter Safran is taking a more creator-driven approach than a producer-driven model. In contrast to the MCU, which is notable for announcing projects without a final draft at hand, the DC heads have been pretty vocal about prioritizing writers.

James Gunn On Daniel Radcliffe (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Daniel Radcliffe became a global superstar through his portrayal of Harry Potter, a role he played for a decade across eight films. After the franchise ended in 2011, Radcliffe deliberately distanced himself from mainstream blockbusters, choosing to take on diverse and unconventional roles. He has since performed in films like Swiss Army Man (2016), where he played a talking corpse, Guns Akimbo (2019), an action-comedy, and The Lost City (2022), where he played the antagonist.
Despite staying away from major franchises, rumors of Radcliffe joining the superhero genre have persisted. In the past, fans speculated about him playing Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine, which ultimately did not materialize. Now, fresh speculation has linked him to the DC Universe (Dcu), specifically in the upcoming Clayface movie. With speculation growing, DC Studios co-head James Gunn has officially addressed whether Radcliffe is being considered for the role.

“As we confirmed the other day, we’re closing a deal with James to direct. Because we don’t have a director yet, we haven’t even started the casting process. Daniel is great but we certainly haven’t talked to or considered him. So this one is 100% false,” James wrote on his Threads account.
THR recently revealed that Speak No Evil helmer James Watkins is attached to direct the upcoming DC title, which was first revealed back in December.
Horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan has penned the script for the movie, and a September 11, 2026 release date has been set.

Let me start by quickly highlighting a piece I did back in December. In I Think James Gunn Needs to Slow Down Before He Repeats the Mistakes of the Dceu, my point was to bring to your attention how the new Dcu was already starting to replicate the old Dceu by announcing numerous movies that weren’t even on the Gods and Monsters slate — Teen Titans, Clayface, Sgt. Rock, Deathstroke and Bane, etc. Let’s now fast-forward to February 21. On this day, there was a small meeting between Gunn, Safran, and members of the press at the Warner Brothers lot in Burbank, California — lots of updates and lots of details on upcoming projects.
It sounds like Gods and Monsters is being changed to Monsters... and whatever else we can get quickly working on the side. Aside from Superman and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, everything else seems to either be up...

Superhero movie fans just got some big news about James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC Cinematic Universe, which kicked off late last year with Creature Commandos. The franchise's first live-action film, Superman, is set to hit theaters on July 11, officially ushering in the Dcu era. While the new cinematic universe has gotten off to a slow and cautious start, Gunn and Safran have promised big things to come in upcoming years, with projects like Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Lanterns, and Clayface already well into development.
In a recent press conference, Peter Safran opened up about their plans for the future of the Dcu, as well as how often fans should expect to see new offerings from the superhero franchise. In a surprisingly candid moment, he suggested that...

It was announced last week that James Watkins (Speak No Evil) would direct the Clayface movie for DC Studios, and almost immediately, rumours emerged that Daniel Radcliffe was being considered for the starring role. Before you start getting too excited (or not), James Gunn took to Threads to shoot down the rumour.
“As we confirmed the other day, we’re closing a deal with James to direct,” Gunn wrote. “Because we don’t have a director yet, we haven’t even started the casting process. Daniel is great but we certainly haven’t talked to or considered him. So this one is 100% false.” As the project starts to move forward, we’ll likely hear some real casting news before too long. Dave Bautista once expressed a desire to play the role of Clayface, but Gunn has certainly been keen on populating the Dcu with actors he’s worked with before.

Supermanwill kick off a new franchise in Warner Bros.' DC Studios, which will include movies and TV shows in Dcu's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The upcoming franchise has unveiled some of the titles in the first part, but it's unclear how it will all blend together.
James Gunn, DC Studio's co-ceo alongside Peter Safran, wrote and directed the upcoming Superman, which will not mark the character's origin story, but will start the story right in the center of the action. This time, the character is played by David Corenswet, who will make his debut as the titular superhero this summer. In a new interview with Esquire España, Corenswet played coy when asked about Superman's future.

Recent rumors had suggested that Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe was being eyed to portray the titular supervillain in DC Studios' upcoming Clayface film. However, James Gunn has thrown cold water on those rumors, meaning Radcliffe may not be joining the Dcu anytime soon after all.
Recently, film scooper Jeff Sneider of The InSneider reported that Radcliffe was wanted to play the live-action version of Clayface. According to the report, he was one of two actors in consideration for the role. The rumor was plausible, as Radcliffe previously worked with director James Watkins on the 2012 film The Woman in Black, which could have been one aspect that possibly drew Radcliffe to the role. After the chatter reached DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn, however, the rumor was completely squashed.

A while ago DC Studios officially greenlit Clayface, a horror-themed film about a struggling B-movie actor who uses a mysterious substance to stay relevant—only to transform into a creature made entirely of clay.
The script was written by Flanagan. Safran compared the film’s tone to the 1986 horror classic The Fly. However, due to Flanagan’s commitments to his upcoming The Exorcist movie (2026) and a planned Carrie TV series, he was unable to direct.
Instead recently, James Watkins was hired to take on directing duties, with filming expected to begin later that year. Reeves is also involved as a producer alongside Lynn Harris through his production company, 6th & Idaho Productions.

DC Studios recently enlisted Speak to Evil director James Watkins to helm Clayface. Given the filmmaker's horror background, all signs point to this being one of the most messed up comic book movies ever.
The Dcu-set project will begin shooting later this year and we now have our first casting rumour. According to The InSneider, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is one of two actors currently being eyed for the role of Basil Karlo, a.k.a. Clayface.
Radcliffe previously worked with Watkins on The Woman in Black. The actor has made a big effort to shake off the shadow of the Boy Who Lived in recent years, taking on vastly different, typically well-received roles in movies like Weird: The Al Yankovic Story and The Lost City.
We'll see what happens, though rumours claiming James McAvoy was being lined up to play Clayface have since been debunked.

James Gunn and Peter Safran’s joint vision for the Dcu took another step forward this week, with the pair laying out revised plans for the franchise’s immediate and long-term future. Among the many updates, Swamp Thing fans were given some bittersweet news about the horror-orientated movie’s production, which seems to be frustratingly stalled…but seemingly for a good reason.
When Gunn originally announced the Dcu’s first wave of projects, it included some surprising entries and the promise of more to come. Now, two years on, the Dcu is ready to kick off its live-action account with this summer’s Superman, but there have been some changes to other projects, as the ever-evolving world of comic book movies has forced Gunn and Safran to rework their initial slate.

DC Studios Rejig Release Slate As James Gunn Gives Updates On Batman, Teen Titans, Clayface And More
Time flies when you're having fun — and when you're trying to build a cinematic universe, too. Somehow, it's already been two years since DC Studios head honchos James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed the roadmap for their newly christened Dcu, announcing a wildly ambitious "Gods And Monsters" first phase comprising 10 projects. Now, as the first major movie from that slate, Gunn's own Superman, gets ready to take flight this July, Gunn and Safran have taken some time to give fans an update on their ever-evolving future plans — including Batman: The Brave And The Bold, a proposed live-action Teen Titans movie, Clayface, and much more besides.
At a gathering of the press last Friday, Gunn and Safran held court to talk films and TV shows that are in production, that need more time, and that are in the early stages of development. On the in production front, as of right...

James Gunn and Peter Safran have been chatting DC’s upcoming slate, and confirmed that British director James Watkins is set to helm the studio’s Clayface adaptation.
James Gunn and Peter Safran have been in charge of DC Studios for just over two years now, and 2025 will see the pair release DC’s first film under their tenure, Gunn’s Superman.
Gunn and Safran recently gave an update on where the studio is headed. While Gunn and Safran are clearly trying to avoid the Marvel style of announcing a huge slate of films and series and then having to backtrack on their promises, the pair did deliver some exciting news.
One of the new projects discussed was a live-action adaptation of Clayface. The film was announced in late December and is set to hit cinemas on 11th September 2026. There’s still no news on who might be appearing in the film,...
