Talented Director Held Back By Story

Clearly talented director with a exceedingly generic story holding them back. While I enjoyed the unique setting, the "summer love" story between an emotionally stinted main character and her overly "good" and forgiving love interest is nothing new. This made it hard to be invested in the outcome of the story, but more importantly it overshadowed my personal ability to think deeper about the main characters struggles.

While the cinematography was nothing to write home about, the filmmaking as a whole felt very complete. Getting good acting performances, good pacing, and real feeling scene design is no easy feat for a short format film.

I hope to see this director with a more challenging and unique story in the future.
