I have been waiting for this one for a while and it was worth the wait! I just found this on Redbox and watched it immediately. You gotta see this film out on video. From the guys who brought you, "The Wild Man of The Navidad," and "Butcher Boys," comes a new classic indie genre bender. I have loved everything Duane Graves and Justin Meeks have made since, "Wild Man" and I recommend this Horror film disguised as a Western complete with a 70's style soundtrack that gives it a bit of Tarantino flavor, while still being original. It has colorful characters, brutal action and gore, twists and turns, and generally keeps getting weirder as it goes on. You will not believe how it ends. I can't wait to see what these guys do next!
I rate it 8 out of 10 mostly for cast(main) performances and overall fun factor. Yeah, there are some unavoidable story problems and the majority of the characters are weak but they get killed off in the first 30 minutes so who cares. Do you go to a Chainsaw movie expecting Shakespeare? NO! You go to see Leatherface and to see how far he'll go with his Chainsaw!! The kills were awesome, the intention of the link to the original is genuinely good and Leatherface was very well handled. I can't wait to see where it goes from where the story left off. I am happy to hear, in spite of the haters, it did well at the box office and there is a sequel in the works:)
This first installment of the fan-made series wastes no time jumping into the action, covering a lot of story in a short amount of time. This series is by far one of the most realistic, authentic fan made films I've seen on the web. Using real veterans and real military equipment and tactical know how, adds to the authenticity, and the use of some of the more obscure Joes does a lot to add to the ever expanding Mythos of G.I. Joe:) I am particularly excited to see more in the near future, I am in favor of the independent take of this saga, and more attention being paid to characters, dialog, and story twists rather than hokey youtube vids I've seen who try to have CGI and similar SFX. This series is a great way to get your Joe fix in anticipation for the long delayed G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
