It’s been reported that Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman have signed on to return for My Spy 2, along with several other familiar faces and a few new additions.

Exclusive: Look who’s back! In a return five years in the making, original The Good Doctor cast member Chuku Modu is set to recur on the current sixth season of the ABC medical drama, reprising his role as Dr. Jared Kalu.

He will first appear in the March 6 episode, aptly titled “Old Friends.” In it, Dr. Kalu (Modu) makes a surprise return to San Jose’s St. Bonaventure Hospital with his billionaire patient.

Director Pete Segal is returning to helm the sequel, which reunites franchise stars Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman alongside scene-stealers Kristen Schaal and Ken Jeong.

The follow-up concerns a now teenage Sophie (Coleman) convincing JJ (Bautista) to chaperone her school choir trip to Italy where they both unwittingly end up pawns in an international terrorist plot targeting CIA chief David Kim (Jeong) and his son, Collin – who’s also Sophie’s best friend.

Thirty years ago this month, Milestone Media launched and the comics world listened. Hardware #1 from legendary creators Dwayne McDuffie and Denys Cowan was the company’s first book in February 1993. It was nothing less than a statement of purpose, a book about a Black genius fighting his white industrialist boss (who’s secretly a crime lord) to get pay and recognition for his inventions.

But it wasn’t until the Static Shock cartoon launched on TV in 2004 that Milestone made a broad cultural impact. “For so many of us in that generation, Static [Shock], the cartoon, was the door that opened a lot of things up,” Jordan Clark, a member of the Milestone Initiative’s inaugural class, tells Den of Geek magazine.

Previously, January 11: Nancy Drew star Kennedy McMann is set as the lead and Emmy-winning Desperate Housewives alumna Felicity Huffman as a co-lead in The Good Lawyer, the proposed legal spinoff from ABC’s popular medical drama The Good Doctor, from Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature.

ABC has formally ordered an embedded pilot episode of The Good Doctor titled The Good Lawyer, which will guest star McMann and Huffman and will introduce their characters. Airing March 6, the episode, written by The Good Doctor co-showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman and directed by Ruben Fleischer, marks the first acting gig for Huffman since she completed a short prison sentence for her role in the college admission scandal almost three years.

Exclusive: Bethlehem Million (Sick) is set as a lead opposite Kennedy McMann and Felicity Huffman in The Good Lawyer, the proposed legal spinoff from ABC’s popular medical drama The Good Doctor, produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature.

Million will appear along with McMann and Huffman in the March 6 “The Good Lawyer” embedded pilot episode of The Good Doctor, written by the series’ co-showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman and directed by Ruben Fleischer.

In the episode, Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) seeks legal representation to help him win a case and puts his faith in a promising, young lawyer, Joni DeGroot (McMann) who has obsessive compulsive disorder.

Million will portray Abbie. Compassionate, practical and a voice of reason, Abbie is Joni’s (McMann) slightly older sister, as well as her biggest cheerleader, roommate and best friend. These two share the bond of siblings who survived a less than ideal childhood together.

Film Independent has revealed the television nominations for the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards, which this year have gone gender-neutral, just like its film colleagues. As revealed online Tuesday morning by Asia Kate Dillon (“Billions“), the annoncement included a winner: Apple TV+’s “Pachinko” won for best new ensemble cast, including Soji Arai, Jin Ha, Inji Jeong, Minha Kim, Kaho Minami, Lee Minho, Steve Sanghyun Noh, Anna Sawai, Jimmi Simpson and Yuh-jung Youn.

Overall, leading the nominees were ABC’s “Abbott Elementary,” FX’s “The Bear,” Apple TV+’s “Severance” and HBO Max’s “Severance,” all tied with three nods each.

Film Independent announced the TV nominations for the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Tuesday morning, with four shows in particular leading the pack. ABC’s beloved comedy “Abbott Elementary,” FX’s critical darling “The Bear,” the HBO Max limited series “Station Eleven” and the acclaimed Apple TV+ drama “Severance” scored the most nominations of any show with three each.

The Apple TV+ series “Pachinko” won the Best Ensemble award.

New this year, as with the film nominees, is a switch to gender neutral acting awards with the Best Actor and Best Actress categories replaced by a 10-nominee Best Lead Performance in a New Scripted Series award. In addition to this change, a Best Supporting Performance in a New Scripted Series award has been added to honor performances outside of the leading roles.

The Film Independent Spirit Awards are unveiling their 2023 nominees for television Tuesday morning. The reveal marks a previously announced expansion of the TV categories, as well as a move to gender-neutral acting races this year in both television and film, the latter of which were revealed last month during the Spirits’ film nominations.

The organization has combined both actor and actress in TV’s Best Lead Performance in a New Scripted Series, and in the new category of Best Supporting Performance in a New Scripted Series.

Film Independent has revealed the TV nominees for the 2023 Spirit Awards.

Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Severance and Station Eleven landed three nominations each, the most of any series.

Notable nominees include Emmy winners Quinta Brunson and Sheryl Lee Ralph of Abbott Elementary, who earned Emmys in September for best writing for a comedy series and supporting actress, respectively, for the ABC sitcom. Emmy nominee Janelle James was also honored with a supporting performance nomination. Other nominees from September’s Emmys include Yellowjackets‘ Melanie Lynskey, Station Eleven‘s Himesh Patel and Severance‘s Adam Scott.

While Till star Danielle Deadwyler was not recognized in the film categories for her acclaimed performance in the United Artists drama, she did earn a supporting performance nod for her role in Station Eleven.

The trailer for Missing, the standalone sequel to Aneesh Chagantry's 2018 thriller Searching, has been released, teasing yet another exhilarating installment of the emerging anthology franchise. Chagantry announced that a follow-up film featuring new characters and a different storyline was in the works in 2019, following the critical and commercial success of Searching, which was heralded for its unique formatting that took place exclusively through the screens of televisions, phones, and computers, as a part of an innovative genre called screen life. Missing, written and directed by Nick Johnson and Will Merrick based on a story by Chaganty and Sev Ohanian, follows the same visual approach to depict another intricate missing person case. Made on a budget of less than 1 million, the mystery thriller Searching (read our review Here), which played out entirely on computer and smartphone screens, earned over 75 million at the global box office. So it’s no wonder a sequel was given the greenlight… but since this was going to be a sequel in name only, it’s also not very surprising that it received a title change along the way. The “Searching sequel” is called Missing, and it was set to reach theatres on February 24, 2023. Deadline reports that it has now been moved forward to the new release date of January 20, 2023.
