Casablanca was one of nine movies to feature the duo of Peter Lorre and Sydney Greenstreet. Widely regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time, the legendary 1942 film never would have become the cinematic icon that it is today without Casablanca's star-studded cast. Featuring a handful of Hollywood's most talented actors at the time, Casablanca delivered Academy Award-winning performances from Humphrey Bogart and Claude Reins, as well as some of the most memorable roles in the careers of Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid.

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators have announced a 2024 international tour, with support from Mammoth Wvh during the UK/European leg.

The “River Is Rising – Rest of the World Tour ’24” kicks off with a Latin American leg in Mexico City on January 23rd. From there, the band will play three shows in Japan in early March, before launching the UK/European leg in late March.

The UK/European leg with Mammoth Wvh begins March 28th in Dublin, Ireland, and wraps up April 29th in Paris. General ticket sales begin Friday (October 20th) at 10 a.m. local time at this location.

Slash and company will be out in support of their latest album 4, which dropped in early 2022. The reason the newly announced outing is dubbed the “Rest of the World Tour” is because the band toured North America in support of the LP last year.

“Bikini Blue” director Jarek Marszewski will direct the 1920s-set euthanasia drama “Iron Ribbon,” for which Los Angeles-based Egyptian actor Mohamed Karim is attached and Tom Hughes (“The English”) is in advanced talks.

The English-language romantic thriller, which is being produced by London-based Daniella Gonella and Jay Michaelson’s Dg Productions, is based on the true story of rising Polish stage star Stanislawa Uminska, who in 1924 killed her cancer-stricken fiancé in Paris upon his request as an act of euthanasia. She then stood trial, but was set free by the French court.

Karim is known across the Middle East as a former host of talent show “The Voice of Arabia” and for roles in popular Ramadan soaps. He is concurrently pursuing a Hollywood career that has led to roles alongside Nicolas Cage in 2019 action movie “A Score to Settle” and with Bruce Willis in “A Day to Die.”

Charles Boyer, Hedy Lamarr, Algiers Hedy Lamarr can be seen later this month on Turner Classic Movies: I Take This Woman (1940) will be shown on Saturday, April 28, and The Conspirators (1944) on Monday, April 30. I Take This Woman was a troubled production that took so long to make — W.S. Van Dyke replaced Frank Borzage who had replaced original director Josef von Sternberg — that punsters called it "I Retake This Woman." Spencer Tracy co-stars as a doctor who marries European refugee Lamarr. Jean Negulesco’s The Conspirators has several elements in common with Michael Curtiz’s Casablanca, including an "exotic" World War II setting (in this case, Lisbon), conflicting loyalties, male lead Paul Henreid, and supporting players Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre. Curiously, at one point Lamarr had been considered for the Casablanca role that eventually went to Ingrid Bergman. Neither I Take This Woman nor The Conspirators did much for Hedy Lamarr’s Hollywood career.

Yesterday we reported that James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn had joined the cast of Robert Redford's Abraham Lincoln drama The Conspirator. And we wondered whether the project would scupper Steven Spielberg's own plans for a Lincoln biopic.For the record, we decided it probably wouldn't. But by way of a confirmatory update, Variety reports this morning that Spielberg is keen to stress that his own Lincoln is still in the works."We are very happy that Redford will be doing this Lincoln movie," he says. "It is completely different from what our DreamWorks Lincoln movie will be, and we believe that it will add to the commercial potential of our film. Lincoln as a subject is inexhaustible."The Conspirators focuses on the aftermath of Lincoln's assassination, while Spielberg's film is thought to be about Lincoln's hand-wringing over the Civil War.
