Writer/director Ti West trilogy of films starring Mia Goth — "X," "Pearl," and now "MaXXXine" — are, first and foremost, a solid trio of character-based horror films. Taken at face value, they tell an eerie, sexy, and violent cautionary tale about two women, Pearl and Maxine (both played by Goth), whose ambitions for stardom lead them to commit sinful acts.

Taken metaphorically, however, the films have a ton to say about the history of cinema itself, with a particular focus on the tense relationship between prurience and art that's existed within the medium since its inception. Horror movies and pornographic films have long been associated with each other, and West draws on that connection to explore the effects cinema has on everything from standards of youth and beauty -- particularly when it comes to women -- as well as the American Dream of going from rags to riches.

There are a lot cult classics from the 1980s, but Road House stands somewhere near the top. Sure, many of its fans wouldn’t label it as such, since they lovingly, legitimately and unironically adore it. But there’s no use in arguing it belongs in one camp over another or that it is unapologetically everything it sets out to be. But it – and its cult following – couldn’t have happened without a few broken ribs, a don’t-take-no producer and some pervy late-night phone calls to a star’s spouse. Yes, it involves Bill Murray… So, pour some suds and rip some throats because we’re gonna find out: Wtf Happened to this Movie?!

The latest teaser for Marvel’s Moon Knight has plenty of exciting action shots and hints of mystery. We get to see Oscar Isaac playing both desert-bound mercenary Marc Spector and timid English shopkeeper Steven Grant, but you may have noticed that the show seems a little scarier than your average MCU offering!

Scream Factory celebrated Friday the 13th in style for the second month in a row last week by once again setting their sights on the upcoming Summer of Fear: Part 2 and announcing a bunch of horror films they plan to release on Blu-ray when longer days and warmer nights usher in another summer.

Via Scream Factory's Facebook page: "1987’s genie-on-the loose The Outing will be paired with 1980’s Omen-inspired The Godsend from Cannon Pictures.

- Empire Pictures’ Cellar Dweller and Catacombs (both from 1988) will share a double bill. John Carl Buechler (Troll, Friday the 13th Part VII) directed Cellar and David Schmoeller (Tourist Trap, Puppetmaster, The Seduction) directed Catacombs.

All are expected to land on 7/14 and will receive new widescreen HD transfers. Pre-order links will go up next month.

For eight seasons of this Fox thriller, the indomitable Bauer repeatedly saved the country from innumerable disasters (or tried to) at grave cost to himself. But far from being showered in the thanks of a grateful nation, he was branded and re-branded a most-wanted villain for his service. He had no choice but to go on the lam. Viewers — like his fictional pursuers on "24" — might reasonably have given up on ever seeing Jack again. But on "24: Live Another Day," he is nabbed by the CIA shortly after 11 a.m., London time, as this real-time, sequential drama erupts with the first of a dozen episodes that will carry the saga to a breathless resolution 12 hours later in the same hectic day.

Jack's back - at the Oscars. Legendary actor Nicholson will join Dustin Hoffman as presenters at Sunday's Academy Awards. Both stars are 75. If you're one of the few who enjoyed Fox's Running Wilde sitcom then there's some good news for you. No, the show hasn't been un-cancelled and renewed for a second season but viewers will have a chance to see the four remaining unaired episodes.

An FX spokesperson confirmed to the Futon Critic that the cable channel will air the quartet of Running Wilde episodes over the next four Thursdays at 10pm.

Two episodes -- "Jack's Back" (episode 10) and "One Step Forward" (a rerun of episode nine) -- will air on April 28th. "Alienated" (episode 11) will run on May 5th, "The Pre-Nup" (episodes 12) can be seen on May 12th, and the series finale -- "Basket Cases" (episode 13) -- will be broadcast on May 19th.

Good news, Jack Bauer fans: the clock is very much still ticking.

"24" enthusiasts have been waiting on the edge of their seats waiting for the Kiefer Sutherland-starring real-time thriller to make its much heralded debut on the big-screen, and now, we've got a time table courtesy of producer Brian Grazer. "Got off the phone Keifer yesterday and we are very excited about producing the 24 movie for next year," Grazer informed his Twitter followers, indicating that the "24" movie is very much on track.

But despite Grazer's assurances, there are several questions we don't know the answer to — like the ones we're asking about past the jump!

Both Kiefer and Grazer are on the record saying that the "24" movie is happening next year, but what exactly does that mean? Will shooting start in 2012 with a release date some time in 2013, or are they actually aiming for release in 2012? If that's the target,...

And though there were not huge horror wins in sound editing through screenplays, the Technical Awards never cease to bring out the horror veterans. Notably Tim Drnec who contributed to such VHS classics as Alien Seed, Destroyer, and Prison won for his work on “Spydercam 3D volumetric suspended cable camera technologies.” An award also shared with Ben Britten Smith and Matt Davis who both also worked on Constantine.

But among all the winners, the Academy also honored some great loses in 2010. And though they mentioned some of our heroes, Dennis Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Kevin McCarthy (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) and Dino de Laurentiis (King Kong), they did not mention Zelda Rubinstein or Corey Haim. But we will in this last section and the others lost to us last year.

In the end, 24 saved its best for last. Not the last episode of this inconsistent season; but the last two hours in the history of this iconic, influential series.

After weeks of complaining about the revenge-fueled monster Jack Bauer had become, I was thrilled to see the show stop and acknowledge just how far over the edge he had gone. When Jason Pillar stitched our hero up and ran down the murderous measures the latter had taken recently, Jack defended his actions as necessary because justice had to be served.

But he quickly realized he might not have been serving it in the proper way. Hence, his decision to let Pillar live.

Given last week's terrific episode, I half-expected the action to slow down tonight - kind of like a re-setting of the proverbial pins so the producers could begin the final march into the (series? season?) finale. Many characters have come and gone through the halls of "Lost," some with better outcomes than others. Some have lived, some have died, others have simply gone their separate ways. Where We Left Off: In the Season 5 finale, Jacob encouraged Hurley to return to the island on Ajira 316, by telling him that he is not cursed, but in fact blessed. In the episode's final moments, Hurley drove his favorite Vw van to the Swan Station site, Sayid and Miles in tow, to act as Jack's back-up when he gets in trouble with the Dharma Initiative.

What's Next: Producers have confirmed that Cynthia Watros will reprise the role of Libby, paving the way for a reunion of the quirky coupling. Garcia has also hinted that we haven't seen the last of "the numbers" just yet.

Uncle Jack's back! Desmond Harrington, who played scheming Jack Bass on Gossip Girl, reveals to TV Guide that he'll be back on the show at some point this season.
