Impolite

The film subtly presents the archetypal character of the opera Tannhäuser. Journalist Jack Yeats (Robert Wisden), an unhappy man in his marriage, determinedly investigates a murder, which leads him to meet people with different personalities that resonate with Venus, Elizabeth, the Pope, death, and, finally, life. The art direction deserves to be highlighted, as well as the editing and soundtrack, which make a captivating and enjoyable film, all this despite its unpretentiousness. A film that echoes the softness of Whales of August and the controlled intensity of Miller's Crossing. Definitely a worthwhile experience.
