Binky and Boo

One of the funniest pieces of animation to come out of the eighties this is camp northern humour at its best. Sometimes surreal, sometimes tragic/horrific Jimmy Jewel's deadpan voice takes us on a journey from the war years to the court of Louis IV to the dawn of creation and beyond. I think it's the jokes about the mother-in-law that are the funniest. Like the piece itself they make no sense at all but somehow manage to make you laugh out loud. The animation is a riotous collage of newspaper, crudely drawn faces, feathers etc which all seems to fit together in the right way and again is appropriate for the content. I just wish it was available on DVD as my video copy is crumbling away. Brilliant
