Originally the film was to feature Ann recording tapes for her father and for Dr. Thompson, in which she forgives her father for being absent during her childhood, and tells Dr. Thompson that his seeing patients as people isn't a bad thing before thanking him for keeping her impending death a secret. The ending montage was also supposed to feature a video clip of Ann's dad making shoes for his granddaughters from prison with tears in his eyes. These things never even made it to the filming stage, probably because of the length of the production itself.

The reoccurring clip of the man at the side of the road using crystal glasses as musical instruments is actually going back to the music video for one of the featured songs in the film's background score. "Humans Like You" by Chop Suey had an official music video which featured the same figure playing with crystal glasses in it. This confused a lot of viewers when My Life Without Me was first released, because it wasn't ever explained to the audience.

Mark Ruffalo (Lee) and Alfred Molina (Ann's Father) Have both been in Marvel Comics Movies playing Bruce Banner and Doc Ock / Dr. Otto Octavius respectively.

Amanda Plummer (Ann's Friend Laurie) and Maria de Medeiros (The Hairdresser) were both in Pulp Fiction playing Honey Bunny and Fabienne respectively.

Jessica Amlee (Penny) and Julian Richings (Dr. Thompson) were both in the series Heartland playing Mallory Wells and Levon Hanley respectively.
