A video of music composer Ar Rahman asking his wife to speak in Tamil instead of Hindi at the Ananda Vikatan Cinema Awards 2022 which took place on March 30 in Chennai is viral on social media. Rahman was receiving the award for the ‘Best Playback Singer 2022’ for his song Marakkuma Nenjam from the movie Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu. While accepting the award, he thanked his wife Saira Banu and said that she was a huge fan of his voice. He later invited her to the stage and handed the trophy to her. When the anchors of the award show gave Saira a mic, Ar Rahman is seen quipping to his wife, “Hindi la pesatheenga, Tamil la pesunga please” which translates to “Don’t speak in Hindi, please speak in Tamil.” This statement received loud cheers and applause from the audience.

Eminent writer Jeyamohan’s story ‘Kaithigal’ is now being adapted into a film titled ‘Ratha Saatchi’.

Aha Tamil and Magizh Mandram are producing the film that is to be directed by Rafiq Ismail.

Jeyamohan, the eminent writer is known for scripting the story of films like ‘Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu’ and for penning the dialogues for the screen adaptation of Kalki’s literary classic ‘Ponniyin Selvan’.

According to Jeyamohan, the story behind the making of Ratha Saatchi deserves to be the subject of another movie.

“A director named Rafiq Ismail approached me and asked for permission to make ‘Kaithigal’ into a film. Within three months of this happening, ace director Mani Ratnam considered adapting this story for the screen.”

“Later, renowned director Vetrimaran too approached me to acquire the rights of the story. I informed them that the story has already been given to Rafiq.”

Director Muthaiya’s new film, featuring actor Arya in the lead, went on floors on Sunday with a traditional pooja ceremony here in the city. Pleased with the box office earnings of the recently released superhit Tamil film, ‘Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu’, its producer Ishari K. Ganesh has presented an Mpv to the film’s lead actor Silambarasan (‘Simbu’) and a bike to the director, Gautham Vasudev Menon.

The producer handed over the keys to a Toyota Vellfire to the actor and keys to a Royal Enfield Bullet to the director at a party the team had called to celebrate the success of the film.

The film has been declared a hit, with the film grossing an impressive Rs 50.56 crore worldwide within the first four days of its release.

Kamal Haasan has said that the sequel to ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’, his immensely popular action thriller with director Gautham Menon, was very much on the cards. Kamal Haasan, who participated in the recent trailer launch of director Gautham Menon’s upcoming film ‘Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu’, said: “Gautham Menon had discussed the gist of ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2’ a couple of years ago. Sadly, Corona played spoilsport.”
