Audiences these days have truly grown to love the terrifying presence of horror in their holidays. Whether it be Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, the Yuletide season, or even St. Patrick's Day, the number of holiday-themed horror movies has increased over the past few decades. Despite its growing popularity, though, it was a controversial theme back then. In fact, when Silent Night, Deadly Night hit theaters in 1984, a conservative group of parents found the feature offensive for tarnishing the image of their beloved Saint Nick. But that’s not to say the movie hasn’t had its brighter days; it has even found its rightful viewers several years later and is now deemed a cult classic. Now, with the movie confirmed to be receiving a modern reboot, Deadline has unveiled the first image of Rohan Campbell as the new Billy Chapman — a role first played by Robert Brian Wilson.

Four years have gone by since we heard that Orwo Studios and Black Hanger Studios, the folks behind Jeepers Creepers: Reborn, were going to be making a reboot of the classic Christmas slasher movie Silent Night, Deadly Night (watch it Here), and while those plans didn’t work out and Orwo Studios and Black Hanger Studios are no longer involved, a remake is still moving forward. Last November, we learned that the film will be coming our way from Cineverse, the company behind the Terrifier franchise, with writer/director Mike P. Nelson at the helm. A couple of months ago, Sixth Dimension, the new in-house genre label at Studiocanal, picked up the global rights (excluding North America) to the project. And now, Deadline has confirmed that the remake has officially started filming – and they even unveiled the first image, which can be seen at the bottom of this article.

Terrifier franchise distributor Cineverse has unveiled its next slasher production. A first look at the company's upcoming remake of the controversial slasher cult classic Silent Night, Deadly Night has been shared as filming kicks off in Canada.

Cineverse has moved quickly since announcing plans to remake Silent Night, Deadly Night back in November. Earlier this week, Rohan Campbell was cast in the role of protagonist Billy Chapman, who in the original movie goes on a killing spree dressed in a Santa suit. Horror fans will recognize Campbell from 2022's Halloween Ends, where he played a major supporting role in the legacy sequel as Corey Cunningham, and more recently, Oz Perkins' The Monkey. The first look at the Silent Night, Deadly Night remake was shared by Deadline and features a shirtless Campbell staring at himself in the mirror.

Exclusive: Terrifier franchise backer Cineverse has announced the start of production for its reimagining of cult Santa slasher movie Silent Night, Deadly Night in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The production has unveiled a first image of Rohan Campbell in the role of protagonist Billy Chapman, who goes on a killing spree dressed in a Santa suit.

He is joined in the cast by Ruby Modine as Pamela, a colleague on whom Chapman develops an unrequited crush, as well as newly announced casting additions Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson.

Silent Night, Deadly Night tells the story of a child who is traumatized after seeing his parents killed by a man dressed as Santa Claus. Years later, he dons a Santa suit himself and gets bloody revenge. The movie spawned multiple sequels over the years and a loose remake in 2012.

Now, we’re traveling all the way back to the ’30s to discuss Albert Ray‘s 1932 murder mystery comedy The Thirteenth Guest!

In The Thirteenth Guest, Marie Morgan (Ginger Rogers) has just turned 21 and can now accept the inheritance that her father left her when he died at a dinner party 13 years prior. That dinner party was supposed to have 13 guests in attendance, but only 12 showed up.

While Marie tries to figure out the identity of the mysteriously absent thirteenth guest, a psychopath has started killing off the other attendees of that fated dinner party, with the dead bodies being left at the table in the same seats they had originally occupied all those years ago.

Regardless of any perceived quality when it comes to individual entries, you have to hand it to the Silent Night, Deadly Night franchise. It kicked off with a demented killer Santa story that created immense controversy, cementing it as a piece of hallowed horror history. Since then, it has produced a series of movies that each stand out for any number of memorable reasons (my personal favorite). You can certainly argue the successful and not-so-successful elements of a Silent Night, Deadly Night entry, but it’s tough to say any one of them is “normal.” They all offer such unique quirks and oddities that it’s hard not to find them attractive from the right angles.

And Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation is the weirdest one of the bunch and so much better for it.

Hong Kong filmmaker John Woo (“A Better Tomorrow”) is directing the film, which is currently in production in Mexico City. The story centers on Godlock (Kinnaman), a father on a mission to avenge his young son, who was tragically caught in the crossfire of gang violence on Christmas Eve. Moreno will portray Saya, Godlock’s wife, and Torres will take on the role of the gang leader, Playa.

Robert Lynn is writing the screenplay, which contains almost no dialogue. Instead, the film will rely on the actor’s abilities to convey meaning and intention through Woo’s stylized imagery and intense action sequences.
