The film was directed by Claudio Fäh, who has previously “Northmen – A Viking Saga,” “Sniper: Reloaded,” and 16 episodes of “Ghost Whisperer: The Other Side,” the online companion series to CBS’ “Ghost Whisperer.” It’s written by Robert Henny and Don Michael Paul.

Chad Michael Collins is set to recur on this coming season of “NCIS: New Orleans.” The actor will play a Navy fighter pilot on the sophomore effort of the CBS procedural. Collins will first appear in the episode “Kissed by the Sun” in October, playing opposite series leads Scott Bakula, Zoe McLellan, and Lucas Black. Collins recently wrapped the franchise lead role for Sony’s forthcoming film “Sniper: Kill Shot.” He also starred in “Sniper: Legacy” with Tom Berenger and Dennis Haysbert last fall, and originated the Sgt. 21 years after Tom Berenger first played U.S. Marine marksman Thomas Beckett in the 1993 action-thriller Sniper, Beckett's legacy lives on in Sony Pictures' Sniper: Legacy. After the original film hit theaters in 1993, Tom Berenger returned as Beckett in two straight-to-video sequels, but in 2011, the franchise was revived with Sniper: Reloaded, which starred Chad Michael Collins as Thomas' son Brandon Beckett. This estranged father-son duo come face-to-face in Sniper: Legacy, available on DVD September 30, as they must work together to take out a rogue shooter who has been taking out high-ranking military leaders.

I recently had the chance to speak with Tom Berenger over the phone, where he offered a sneak peek into the production process, explaining how the original script's ending may have ended this franchise before it even started, the possibility of a new Major League movie, and much more. Take a look at what he had to say below.

Claudio Fäh’s action feature joins gala line-up.

Period action film Northmen - A Viking Saga is to receive its world premiere at the 10th Zurich Film Festival (Sept 25 - Oct 5) as part of the gala premieres strand.

Director Claudio Fäh and producer Ralph S. Dietrich will present the film alongside the cast including Tom Hopper, Ken Duken, Ed Skrein and Swiss actor Anatole Taubman on Sept 27.

This Swiss film, about a gang of predatory Vikings whose escape to Scotland ends in death and destruction, was shot in South Africa.

Swiss-born, Los Angeles-based Fäh is best known for directing Coronado, Sniper: Reloaded and Hollow Man 2.

Northmen - A Viking Saga is a co-production between Elite Filmproduktion, Two Oceans Production and Jumping Horse Film.

I love me some Tom Berenger behind a rifle scope. Remember 1993′s “Sniper”? That movie launched a franchise, though if you don’t partake in the direct-to-dvd movie market, you may not have known that. I did, and I’ve seen all of the “Sniper” movies, including 2002′s pretty good “Sniper 2″ and the equally pretty good “Sniper 3″ in 2004. Seven years later, we got the not-at-all-bad but unfortunately Tom Berenger-less “Sniper: Reloaded.” Although Berenger didn’t show up for “Reloaded,” his co-star from the original “Sniper,” Billy Zane, did. That film also introduced Chad Michael Collins as the son of Berenger’s character, who is also a sniper just like dear ol dad. The latest is “Sniper: Legacy,” which teams Collins and Berenger as father-and-son, thus bringing, I guess, the franchise full-circle. Or some such. The point, is it’s Tom Berenger back behind a rifle scope shooting fools!

Exclusive: Ryan Kwanten, Tom Hopper, Charlie Murphy and 2013 Screen Star of Tomorrow Ed Skrein have joined the cast of Northmen – A Viking Saga, which starts principal photography on Sept 9.

The film will shoot for eight weeks primarily in South Africa, with some additional shooting in Germany.

Claudio Fah directs the epic adventure. The previously announced cast includes Ken Duken, Anatole Taubman and James Norton (who is also a 2013 Screen Star of Tomorrow).

Matthias Bauer and Bastian Zach wrote the script, about Viking marauders trapped in enemy territory in Scotland.

The Salt Company is handling worldwide sales; eOne has already taken on the UK, France, Scandinavia, Australia and New Zealand.

Tobias Santelmann, who stars as one of the brawny sailors on Thor Heyerdahl's raft in Norway's Oscar-nominated "Kon-Tiki," has been cast as Viking leader Asbjorn in "Northmen -- A Viking Saga." In the film, Asbjorn is stranded behind enemy lines on the coast of Alba with his Vikings. Their only hope for survival is to find a route to the Viking settlement Danelag, voyaging through hostile lands and fending off vicious mercenaries. The film will be helmed by Claudio Faeh ("Sniper: Reloaded") and is co-penned by Mattias Bauer and Bastian Zach. Santelmann can be seen in the above photo scooping a CG shark by its tail. Meanwhile, Iceland's Baltasar Kormakur, who directed the country's shortlisted Oscar entry "The Deep," is planning a Viking film of his own (our interview with more details on the project is here). It's an absolute wasteland out there on store shelves this week, as studios are offering virtually no major releases to speak of and instead we are left to sort through a pile of pathetic-looking direct-to-dvd titles. Believe it or not, South Park: Season 14 is probably the only high profile release out today, but if that's not your bag, you can always check out Sniper: Reloaded starring Billy Zane, Blood Out starring Val Kilmer and 50 Cent, or Sacrifice starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Christian Slater! A couple of potential hidden gems include British comedy Bunny and the Bull from the makers of The Mighty Boosh and the lottery winner doc Lucky from director Jeffrey Blitz (Spellbound). I have seen enough "straight-to-dvd sequels" in my day to know that most of them lack one basic element: they aren't really sequels. Sure, they may be in the same tone or genre as the original, but they are completely different characters and, most of the time, set in completely different worlds. Sniper: Reloaded has the distinction of being one of the first "straight-to-dvd sequels" I've seen in many years that actually deserves to call itself a sequel, and it's a damn good movie as well. The story centers around the son of Tom Berenger's character, from the original 1993 movie Sniper, and also features a fantastic return performance from Billy Zane, who reprises his role of Richard Miller from the original as well.
