Les Papillons

Since it still lacks the use of film, this work by Reynaud cannot yet be classified as a "film," making it impossible for me to rate it coherently.

Nonetheless, I believe this piece exhibits a greater level of staticity compared to Reynaud's other works (in Le singe musicien, the monkey even seems to move too much). This is due to the fact that the flower reacts passively to the fluttering of the butterflies, not showing even the slightest movement when one of them lands on it.

However, the smooth animation of the two butterflies and the playful, non-didactic intent of the piece make it easy to forgive the static nature of the flower, which feels more like a background element than an integral part of the scene.
