Now before i begin, i must remind you all of something that it seems some of my fellow reviewers seem to have not taken into account. This movie is a musical, based on the original works of Charles Dickens. It is not a Christmas Carol, whatever it says in the title. If you are going to complain about this not being a Christmas carol, then you should go and complain on the Oliver and Co board for turning oliver twist into a cat...
Firstly, the acting. I think it was preety obvious that a lot of the actors were singers and dancers. Some may have had a little acting training, but not much. Kelsey Grammar as always was great. And getting to show his talent as a singer once again, as well as his fantastic acting skills. The rest of the cast was average. The child actors were wooden at best, since they have probably just been found in a drama school in a little village in wales...
The basic story is kept. Ebenezer Scrooge, a miser, is awoken every hour for the first 3 hours on Christmas day and taken by a spirit to see how Christmas is for other people. Poor People and Rich. There are additions which i think work very well.
The music, as this is a musical, is sometimes out of place. There are maybe 3 songs which are really good, and the are preety random. Sometimes it seems like the writer tried to rhyme just for the sake of rhyming and to be honest, it stands out a mile and it doesn't sound good.
So, my conclusion? For a Christmas film its very good, as long as you forget the work on which it is based. And Because Kelsey Grammar is in it, i'm gonna give it an average...

I'd be the first to admit that, at times, this had a preety corny storyline. Some of the jokes are predictable, and some scenes seem longer then they had to be.
But, taking these minor points away, you have a great film.
The acting from the adult cast was acceptable (except from kelsey grammar, who, as in all his roles, played it perfectly). The acting from the child cast was remarkable. I could only name you one GOOD child star (And i'm definitely not talking about Mary Kate or Ashley...) but after watching this, i may have to change my outlook that all child screen actors are hopeless.
This is a great film...there are no explosions, hardly any swearing, and the death scene was strangely cut out...so you can see why this may not have been well received. This isn't a life altering film, but i like it anyway...
