This film is an exploration of what happens to places in general, and people in particular, once the menfolk abandon an Egyptian village to investigate the greener-grass on the proverbial 'other side'. The womenfolk, those too old and those too young are left behind... and as the years pass, only letters return, telling tales of loneliness and hard-times. A young man, Ahmed, grows-up under these surroundings and has to deal with being the de-facto man-in-charge; when several of the migrant workers return one day, everyone has to come to terms with things being forever changed.

Adel (Adel Imam) a journalist in a major newspaper, divorced. One evening in one of the pubs frequented by Nashaat al-Kashif (Hatem Zulfiqar), the son of the well-known businessman Fahmi al-Kashif (Farid Shawqi), he kills Bari Morsi and hits the dancer Nadia after he refuses to live in his apartment. But Adel is able to reach Nadia, the only witness who actually makes her statement. She is brought to trial, while Adil falls in love with the television presenter, Nelly, the daughter of Fahmi al-Kashef from his old wife. He is innocently acquitted, and then Adel becomes frustrated To kill Fahmi al-Kashif by the middle of his men.

In the prison, Sayed Kabaka is known for two of his closest friends, Bader Selim al-Qawad and Mustafa Abu al-Ezz, who falsely pleaded guilty to a robbery by his accomplices in order to get money for his wife. Has died without receiving the necessary care promised by his partners, and that his daughter is deposited in an orphanage, Mustafa agrees with Kabaka and Badr Salim to take revenge from his partners for what they did.

Khousosi works for his late uncle's company and he's mad in love with his cousin Bolbola and wishes to marry her, but her mother is against it because she believes he's after the family's fortune. Feeling depressed, he seeks the help of Sami, the company's secretary who arranges for him to meet a hired killer in order to finish him off and cause Bolbola to regret her mistreatment towards him. Khousosi doesn't know that Sami intends to marry Bolbola as well, and also has plans to take over the company with the help of a cheating contractor. Later, Khousosi finds an old man in his apartment who turns out to be the killer but he doesn't murder him, and instead he suggests that he must fake his death to see how people are going to react to the news of his suicide. On the following day, Bolbola reads about her cousin's death in the newspaper, and that is when Sami tells her that he has embezzled lots of money from her company. It is up to Khousosi to prove his innocence to the world and to the woman he loves with the help of the killer and some of his felon friends just to teach Sami a lesson.
