While comedian Sarah Silverman isn’t on Team Maga, she confesses that she sees something familiar when she watches the president in action. “I hate to say it,” she told the U.K.’s iPaper, “but Donald Trump has all the traits of a comedian.”
Sure, Trump has hosted Saturday Night Live and cameoed in movies like Home Alone 2. But how is the guy like a comedian? “He’s all charisma,” according to Silverman. “He’ll say anything it takes to please any crowd that is front of him. But he means none of it. Those are the traits of a comedian who does well on the road.”
Trump can’t get enough juice from a crowd, she explained. “That’s why, last time he was President, he never stopped having rallies — he was on the circuit! I wanna say: ‘You don’t have to be president to throw a party for yourself,...

There’s no question in our minds about one thing: when Seth Rogen sets out to create a Hollywood parody, he delivers! AppleTV’s latest gem, The Studio, is a crisp satire on the perils of modern-day filmmaking. A place where egos walk on eggshells, budgets can send you in a downward spiral, and a single review can mean straight-up destruction.
Plot twist: Even though The Studio feels like an ode to the entertainment industry, there is chatter about the parallels it draws with another blockbuster, The Larry Sanders Show! This 1992 cult classic with six mind-blowing seasons had everything: cameos from top stars, backstage drama, and a whole lot of industry politics.

In the "The X-Files" episode "Sein und Zeit", Mulder (David Duchovny) investigates a bizarre kidnapping case in Sacramento, California. It seems that a young girl named Amber (Megan Corletto) was recently abducted, and a threatening note was left behind by the kidnapper. The note includes a bizarre reference to Santa Claus. The strange part: The note seems to have been written by Amber's mother, Billie (Shareen Mitchell), even thought Billie claims to have no memory of writing it. Mulder seems to recall a case from 1987 with a similar M.O. In the older case, a mother was convicted of kidnapping her own child, and a similar note in the mother's hand, also containing a reference to Santa Claus, was found at the scene.
Mulder begins to suspect that the mothers in both cases were possessed by a rogue spirit of some kind. This affects Mulder personally, as his own mother...

Richard Langley (Dean Haglund), Melvin Frohike (Tom Braidwood), and John Fitzgerald Byers (Bruce Harwood) -- collectively known as the Lone Gunmen -- first appeared in the episode of "The X-Files" called "E.B.E.". They were a trio of very, very intense nerds who spent their days looking into conspiracy theories, often finding (specious) evidence for their existence. Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) also investigated conspiracies, and would occasionally turn to the Lone Gunmen to give his investigations credibility. The Gunmen, however, were comic relief characters, presented as an over-the-top counterpart to Mulder. No matter how wild Mulder got with his talk of aliens, monsters, and government cover-ups, the Gunmen outstripped him in paranoia and conspiratorial hypotheses.
The Gunmen appeared in 40 episodes of "The X-Files" overall (including in the weird latter-day revival seasons), and many fans loved them. They were a whimsical warning of what Fox Mulder might become, if he...

Breaking Bad truly changed the crime genre and television forever. But long before this iconic series took over the AMC screens, creator Vince Gilligan and Bryan Cranston had already worked together on an episode of The X-Files.
Not only that, but this collaboration had already hinted at the magic they would create later on. In the episode titled Drive, which was released almost 27 years ago, the creator came across Cranston. This moment would eventually lead to his casting as Walter White in Breaking Bad.

Drive was more than just another episode in The X-Files universe. Apart from talented agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, it also brought forth Gilligan’s storytelling skills and Cranston’s wonderful acting.

“Are you hearing that emergency alert on my phone?” David Duchovny asks. It’s a fitting way to start our chat about History’s new 10-episode series Secrets Declassified With David Duchovny, which investigates stories of secret government activity and reveals the wild truths behind them. The actor, best known as The X-Files‘ FBI agent Fox Mulder, hosts each hourlong episode, serving as a narrative guide through the bombshells and intrigue — and he tells TV Insider whether the truth really is out there. You usually avoid projects with subject matter that’s similar to The X-Files. What made this one different? David Duchovny: While I was doing that show, and even to this day, people would either come up to me and ask “Are those real cases?” or tell me that they have [experienced] real cases and I don’t know what I’m talking about. And I thought, well, this...

When the general public looks back on The X-Files, they picture a dark and serious 1990s show about aliens and government conspiracies. But die-hard fans know that some of the series’ best episodes were a laugh riot.
The show began to churn out a few episodes per season with a comic bent, beginning with the circus freaks episode “Humbug” in Season Two. And “Humbug” writer Darin Morgan, who also wrote a few funny episodes in Season Three, is generally credited with the comedic relief of the early seasons. Morgan, however, only wrote for the show for two seasons (although he returned in 2016 when the show was briefly revived). The writer responsible for the later funny episodes was Vince Gilligan.
Gilligan’s first largely comedic episode was “Small Potatoes,” a caper in which a pathetic man with a tail named Eddie Van Blundht impregnates several women in town by morphing into exact duplicates of their husbands.

When it comes to Hollywood’s AI future, few have been more vocal — or critical — than Justine Bateman.
Armed with a computer science degree from UCLA, the veteran actor-filmmaker has sounded an alarm about the dangers of replacing human work with machine fabrication. She became a lead voice during the strikes when she advised SAG-AFTRA on the issue and was a public face of the AI-skeptic movement on the WGA picket line.
Bateman is the founder of Credo 23, a two-year-old organization that believes Generative AI “will destroy the structure of the film business” and has set as its goal “making very human, very raw, very real films/series that respect the process of filmmaking.”
As Hollywood begins to cautiously dance with text-to-video tools like OpenAI’s Sora and as the company makes Miyazaki-esque images available (to no small furor), Bateman is renewing her call. The Family Ties star and Violet...

Did Steve Buscemi almost take the Iconic Reservoir Dogs Role? (Photo Credit – Wikipedia)
Quentin Tarantino nearly stepped into a very different pair of shoes in Reservoir Dogs and had it not been for one absolutely killer audition, the entire film might have looked a little different.
Now, Tarantino isn’t just any director, he’s Hollywood’s mad genius, the mind behind Pulp Fiction, the Kill Bill saga, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and a whole blood-soaked parade of cult classics.
If you consider yourself a true Tarantino fan, you would probably know by now that there’s one thing he loves almost as much as crafting razor-sharp dialogue and unforgettable violence – that’s sneaking himself into the frame. He’s done it in Inglourious Basterds, Death Proof, and, of course, Reservoir Dogs, where he played the ill-fated Mr. Brown.

Quentin Tarantino is known for having clear-cut ideas about what he wants in each of his movies from his cast. It probably doesn't come as a shock that there are a number of rejection stories from actors, but this one, regarding Reservoir Dogs, might be a little unexpected. The film was Tarantino's breakthrough as an independent film director. He went on to have minor roles in other films and shows, including ER and has been credited as a writer on the likes of From Dusk Till Dawn, but it's his directing work that he is most acknowledged for.
With Reservoir Dogs relying heavily on dialogue to convey the heist story, Tarantino needed a compelling cast that would replace the action. X-Files star David Duchovny made an attempt at becoming part of the crime movie, when he auditioned to play Mr. Orange. Despite Tarantino thinking Duchovny was a great actor,...

David E. Kelley's unusual primetime drama "Picket Fences" debuted on CBS in 1992, and it was, like a lot of media of the 1990s, an aggressive takedown of the previous generation's tropes. The title, "Picket Fences," was meant to evoke the placid serenity of the post-War Baby Boom, describing a common yard feature in the then-new 1950s suburbs. The series, however, took place in Rome, Wisconsin, a place that was anything but placid. The stories surrounded bleak and sometimes unexplained crimes, and the show regularly tackled sensitive and political topics like abortion, sexual assault, polyamory, and the place of faith in the modern world.
"Picket Fences," with its soapy stories and unusual tone, was clearly a knockoff of (or merely following the trends started by) David Lynch's 1990 series "Twin Peaks." That show also aimed to deconstruct placid 1950s media images with dark violence and surreal mysteries.

In documentaries, “accuracy” is informational — the presentation of data or testimony in a way that’s persuasive and unimpeachable.
“Legitimacy,” however, is aesthetic — the presentation of data or testimony in a way that looks truthful.
Dan Farah’s new documentary The Age of Disclosure is big on “legitimacy.”
Almost nothing in The Age of Disclosure is “new,” per se. The documentary uses 34 talking heads from various levels of the government, military and intelligence community to allege a deep state conspiracy covering up interactions with non-human intelligent life and technology of non-human origin going back 80 years. Many of the people in the documentary have testified before Congress about what they say they know, and more than a couple of them have been in previous documentaries and docuseries recounting their stories with the same level of personal conviction.

The X-Files is a seminal '90s sci-fi show that popularized UFOs, government conspiracies, and attractive FBI agents. One of its hallmarks was its monster-of-the-week stories, which would typically consist of FBI agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) investigating a unique creature or villain in a standalone episode unrelated to the greater mythology of the series. Many of these episodes remain among the most popular of the series, including "Home," and "Squeeze," which feature iconic baddies like The Peacock Family and Eugene Victor Tooms.

The 10-part series was announced at the A+E Global Media event, and while it’s not officially described as a real-life X-Files, the concept feels very similar. The show will dive into “the government’s most secretive, strange, and mind-blowing activities that have been declassified throughout history.”

Few TV series come with such a prestigious pedigree as “The Sympathizer“. Adapted from a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel; co-produced by HBO and top-of-the-line independent film studio A24; co-created, co-produced, co-written and co-directed by Park Chan-wook; also helmed by top Brazilian film director Fernando Meirelles; and co-starring Hollywood mega-star Robert Downey Jr. in no less than five (!) different roles. In fact the miracle is that the show, a miniseries in seven episodes, is never weighed down by the sheer expectations sustaining it. On the contrary, it manages to offer a thrilling, fun and heartbreaking roller-coaster ride into the story of its refugee characters.

The X-Files is a mystery in its own right because not only did it manage to pioneer a new sub-genre of sci-fi in the early '90s, but it also managed to collect an abundance of new fans every day. The show centers around Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, two FBI agents who spend their days uncovering the dark underbelly of the supernatural and strive to bring it to light. Thus, it's easy to say that this show has everything: monsters, aliens, and a ferocious slow-burn romance plot.
Even when the show returned in 2016 for two limited seasons, fans were impressed with how easily David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson were able to slip into their roles again. As such, fans, new and old, often rave about their favorite episodes and discuss why The X-Files had such a big impact on popular culture. However, audiences would be lying if they said...

This reunion was ... out there.
On Sunday, The X-Files stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reunited at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards. And they nearly ruined their moment in the spotlight when they opened up the winner's envelope for the Best Drama Ensemble category before ever announcing the nominees.
"Ensemble," Duchovny began after stepping out on stage. "I think that's a French word that means, 'Thank God I only have to work three days a week.' It's great to see you, Gillian. You look ..."
Anderson finished his sentence: "Younger than you last saw me when we shot 218 episodes?"
Duchovny and Anderson talked about "what makes great drama," and then answered at different times, "Timing" and "Chemistry," respectively.
When the audience only gave them a mild chuckle, Anderson shouted, "We still got it! Hilarious! We did that so well."
And Duchovny added, "Let's get out of here as soon as we can.
