Nearly every culture tells similar folk tales about creepy old hags that practice witchcraft and prey on unsuspecting children, with this irrational fear being at the heart of several real-life tragedies that ended with innocent women being put to death. That’s why I find the idea of redemptive witchcraft stories like The Good Witch and even the ultra-successful Wicked adaptation so fascinating, as despite having been commodified as one of the cutesy mascots of the Halloween season, witches are still at the heart of many of our most frightening stories.
Naturally, this also extends to horror movies, with filmmakers depicting terrifying acts of witchcraft on screen since the very dawn of the medium. And with so many creepy broom-riders out there, we’ve decided to come up with a list celebrating six of the scariest witches in film. After all, there’s a lot more to these sinister spellcasters than black cats and candy-houses.

The long-running Korean wartime sitcom "M*A*S*H" is something of a workplace comedy, but since it was set in the 1950s and aired in the 1970s, most of the main characters are men. "M*A*S*H" follows the antics of the personnel of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, especially surgeons Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce (Alan Alda) and his best friend B.J. Hunnicutt (Mike Farrell).

If just its box office numbers had been considered, then The Stepfather would have remained a standalone movie. However, the 1987 cult flick ultimately found an audience after tanking in theaters; it went on to become a major success on both video and television. So the production company behind the original movie, Itc, went ahead with putting cinema’s deadliest daddy back on the big screen. The pressing question at the time though, was whether or not Terry O’Quinn would return. And if he did, how would his character even come back?
John Auerbach, whose sole screenwriting credit is Stepfather II, was put in charge of bringing the fatal father figure back from the dead. Like anyone else in his position, Auerbach assumed he would be penning a prequel, on account of the fact that O’Quinn’s character was killed at the end of the first movie. On the contrary,...

I Saw the TV Glow director Jane Schoenbrun contemplates a remake of John Carpenter's They Live, flipping the script to reflect late capitalism. Schoenbrun's proposed remake of They Live would portray a world where the aliens have won and everyone is resigned to the fact. As we’ve mentioned before in this series, horror threequels, or from any movie genre in fact, are notoriously hard to nail, in terms of quality. So, I won’t dwell for too long about which part threes have historically worked, and which should be pinned to the wall to rot like one of the Creeper’s victims. However, as we all know, dollar signs in the eyes of studio execs can be a dangerous thing, and if there’s a franchise primed and ready to be milked for all it’s worth, just one last time, those suits will make it happen. For better, or worse. Which, my dear fellow gore-hounds, brings us nicely around to a franchise that had much potential for multiple installments; Jeepers Creepers. And, yeah, I know what the title sounds like with my broad Northern England accent, so suck it up, haters. The first movie was a pleasant surprise,...

Plot: The new epic chapter in the battle for Castle Grayskull!. The newly mechanized Skeletor, armed with Motherboard’s might, attacks Eternia’s heart while Prince Adam grapples with a new responsibility and what that means for him as He-Man!
Review: Back in 2021, I gave a glowing review to Kevin Smith’s revival of He-Man. Titled Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the Netflix original was released in two five-episode drops, both of which I loved. A blend of modern animation techniques coupled with a throwback to the Filmation style of the 1980s cartoon, Revelation was blasted online by a vocal minority who disliked Smith’s decision to “kill off” Prince Adam in the first episode and make the series centered on Teela and many of the female characters. By the end of the full series, Smith’s vision came to fruition, even though many fans were not swayed. The second...

This article contains spoilers for Masters of the Universe: Revolution.
Episode 3 of Masters of the Universe: Revolution features former Man-At-Arms Duncan (Liam Cunningham) and wizard Orko (Griffin Newman) achieving an important goal, enhancing He-Man’s Sword of Power. To do this, Duncan goes to the one person he believes can do it, a locksmith who is, “small in stature and tall on talent.”
That locksmith is a short creature named Gwildor (Ted Biaselli.)
For those not well-versed in their Masters of the Universe franchise lore, Gwildor doesn’t come from the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Filmation cartoon. He actually debuted in the 1987 live-action movie, Masters of the Universe, played by Billy Barty. In that film he was also a locksmith whose main purpose in the plot was as the creator of the Cosmic Key, the object used to transport He-Man and company to Earth in that film.

Alison's return to Rosewood stirs up anger and uncertainty among her friends, and her relationship with Emily becomes complicated.
One of the key mysteries of Pretty Little Liars is what happened to Alison Dilaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) and why she left Rosewood in the first place. She is considered the 'Queen Bee' of her small town and is known for being a mean character who takes pride in knowing her best friends' secrets and sharing them at awkward times. In the pilot, it appears that Alison has been murdered, but when it is revealed in season 3, episode 24 "A DAngerous GAme", that this isn't true, there are questions surrounding where she has been and what she has been doing.

Dolph Lundgren just might reprise the role of He-Man in a legacy sequel if given the chance, but it would have to be with a key change with his costume.
Released in 1987, the Masters of the Universe film starred Lundgren as a live-action incarnation of the bulky superhero He-Man. As the movie was not an immediate success, it was not given an official sequel, though it has developed a large cult following in subsequent years. In a new interview with ComicBook.com, Lundgren was asked abou tthe possibility of returning as He-Man if the cult classic film finally gets a sequel. The actor isn't quite so sure, but if he does, he would have to be wearing more "layers" than he was in the original Masters of the Universe.

Amazon MGM Studios is poised to swoop in and develop a live-action Masters of the Universe movie after Netflix had previously backed away from the project.
As reported by Variety, Amazon MGM is in very early talks for the rights to make the film, which is based on Mattel's famous 80s toys, after Masters of the Universe's development fell apart at Netflix over the summer. The plan is reportedly to release the film in theaters instead of straight to streaming. Netflix reportedly abandoned the project due to budgetary reasons. Adam and Aaron Nee (The Lost City), the writer-directors working on the film for Netflix, are believed to be continuing with the project, set to star Kyle Allen as Prince Adam/He-Man. Hollywood has often turned to the fantasy genre to tell some of the greatest stories ever put to film. From epic, high fantasy to grounded adventure in unique worlds, the genre has racked up an impressive number of awards, solid prestige and a dedicated fan base. Fantasy movies such as Lord of the Rings have entrenched their status as genuine classics and masterpieces not in need of a remake or reboot. However, there are certainly examples of fantasy films that deserve another look, whether due to a poor execution, stories left unfinished or unrealized full potential. The fantasy genre is full of films that would make for excellent new franchises, and they're just waiting for studios and...
