When movie fans hear the phrase "method acting," they likely associate the phrase with the horror stories of actors like Jared Leto making the set of "Morbius" an absolute nightmare, or the continued trend of romanticizing the extreme lengths actors go to prepare for "Batman" films. The ethics of method acting has been highly debated for years, with actors like Jon Bernthal and Andrew McCarthy both speaking out against the abuse of the practice, and the public's misunderstandings about what method acting actually entails. Method acting is built upon the principles of Konstantin Stanislavski, with groundbreaking theater educators Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, and Sanford Meisner developing their own techniques to enhance "The Method."
The latest actor to throw in their two cents is Andrew Garfield, who recently expressed his feelings on method acting during an interview with Variety. "There [have] been a lot of misconceptions about what method acting is, I think,...

We're watching all 17 of Montgomery Clift's films for his centennial. Here's Juan Carlos...
After starring in The Search, Red River, The Heiress, and The Big Lift, all but one of them either a critical or commercial success, Montgomery Clift reached an even great peak in 1951 with George Stevens’ A Place in the Sun. It was the adaptation of a novel and play, both called An American Tragedy, that were in turn inspired by the real-life murder of Grace Brown by Chester Gillette in 1906. The story, already made into a 1931 pre-Code drama as An American Tragedy, took on a life of its own in its 1951 form. A Place in the Sun's now classic tale of doomed romance and class divide proved a crucial success in the careers of all of its key players, winning six Oscars in a tight battle for Best Picture with An American in Paris.

The truth is, that despite common belief, horror is not dominant at all as a genre in Asia; in fact the only time it ever was, was during the J-horror explosion. However, a number of very interesting productions in the realm of the extreme do continue to be produced, while this year, “One Cut of the Dead”, a zombie movie, became one of the most impactful productions of the year, for various reasons, with the same applying to “Dukun”, a Malaysian film which was completed in 2007, but managed to be screened only this year, due to its controversial nature.
Nevertheless, here are the best horror/splatter/thriller movies of 2018, in random order. By thriller, we mean the part that leans towards the horror, not films like “I Saw the Devil”, for example. “Liverleaf” does not fall exactly under this category, but the gore involved allowed us to include it in...

AMC’s’ McMafia is about the Russian underworld, but co-creator James Watkins says the crime drama also mirrors current political scandals in the Us and UK.
“What’s very interesting is the show has been very close to home in the UK and they’re talking about a new mafia law in terms of seizing illicit assets in the UK, in terms of going after some of those criminals that are hiding and parking assets in housing,” Watkins said Sunday during Deadline’s The Contenders Emmy event.
McMafia stars War and Peace’s James Norton as a banker trying to escape his father’s ties to the Russian mob. David Strathairn (The Bourne Ultimatum), Faye Marsay (Game of Thrones), Aleksey Serebryakov (The Method) and Maria Shukshina (Terrorist Ivanona) also star in the series.
McMafia is co-produced by the BBC, AMC, and Cuba Pictures, in association with Twickenham Studios.
