Fresh off IndieWire’s list of the 100 greatest Westerns, Sergio Leone’s classic Spaghetti Western “A Fistful of Dollars” is getting a remake.

The original 1964 feature, which starred Clint Eastwood as a nameless gunfighter, began a film trilogy that included “For a Few Dollars More” and “The Good the Bad and the Ugly.” Now, “A Fistful of Dollars” is going to be reimagined by the producers behind “The Departed,” “300,” and “The Talented Mr. Ripley.”

Euro Gang Entertainment, founded by Gianni Nunnari and Simon Horsman, will produce the “A Fistful of Dollars” remake, along with Italian producer Enzo Sisti of Fpc and Rome-based Jolly Film, which produced the original movie. The film is expected to be an English-language remake, but no details have been made public yet.

Euro Gang and Sisti recently collaborated on Roland Emmerich’s upcoming Peacock gladiator series “Those About to Die” starring Anthony Hopkins.

Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood classic A Fistful Of Dollars is set for a movie remake from Euro Gang Entertainment, the company founded by Hollywood vet Gianni Nunnari (300) and Simon Horsman (Magazine Dreams), alongside Italian production vet Enzo Sisti (Ripley) of Fpc, and Rome-based Jolly Film, which produced the original movie.

Hit western A Fistful of Dollars is the story of a wandering gunfighter with no name who plays two rival families against each other in a town torn apart by greed, pride, and revenge.

The film, released in the mid ’60s, helped launch the “spaghetti western” genre and Eastwood’s career (and others including that of composer Ennio Morricone). Its huge success spawned two more films in an iconic trilogy also comprising For a Few Dollars More and The Good the Bad and the Ugly, all starring Eastwood.

Antoine Fuqua is a worker. Not only has he released two feature films in the past two years — Emancipation and The Equalizer 3 — but the director has also been directing and producing some big television projects as well. He helmed episodes of Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers and The Terminal List as well as executive producing Jeremy Renner’s hit show, Mayor of Kingstown. He is also well into the production of a colossal undertaking of capturing the dizzyingly epic and tragic life of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, in the biopic Michael. Now Deadline reports that Fuqua is developing a feature adaptation to the YA novel, Sky’s End, from New York Times bestseller debut author Marc J. Gregson.

Euro Gang Entertainment, the company launched last year by Hollywood veterans Gianni Nunnari and Simon Horsman (“Legacy: The True Story of the L.A. Lakers”) is ramping up operations in Italy through a partnership with Rome-based Alfred Film, the young shingle co-founded by experienced producers Roberto Amoroso and Maria Theresia Braun.

The Euro Gang deal with Alfred currently comprises three feature films and an English-language TV series that will shoot in Italy and elsewhere, according to a statement.

Founded in 2020, Alfred Film – which is named in homage to Alfred Hitchcock – is focused on commercially-driven quality projects such as their mainstream comedy “Tre di Troppo,” directed by and starring Italian comedy draw Fabio De Luigi, which grossed €4.7 million ($5 million) at the local box office and is the third highest-grossing Italian film of 2023.

Exclusive: Euro Gang Entertainment, the company founded by Gianni Nunnari (300) and Simon Horsman (Legacy: The True Story Of The LA Lakers), has entered into a three picture and series deal with German writer-director Marco Kreuzpaintner who most recently co-directed with Roland Emmerich the big-budget 10-part gladiator series, Those About to Die, with Anthony Hopkins.

Alongside Euro Gang, Kreuzpaintner will produce and direct Drood, a series based on the book of the same name by U.S. author Dan Simmons (The Terror). The story revolves around a sinister and mysterious hunt through Victorian London’s perilous underground for a murderous specter, led by none other than Charles Dickens, and his best friend and fellow author, Wilkie Collins.

It took me a little while to work out that the idea of ‘standom’ – a particularly fanatical kind of fandom – emanated from the Eminem song ‘Stan’ from the year 2000. I wouldn’t mind, I bought the sodding single as well.

Anyway. Eminem is returning to the world of Stans with a documentary feature film that his company is backing. Cunningly, said documentary will be going by the name of Stans, and Eminem is listed amongst the co-producers of the project.

He’s not the director though, so let’s have a paragraph or two on him. Steven Leckart is the person in question, and he’s previously directed Challenger: The Final Flight. He also co-wrote the TV series Legacy: The True Story Of The LA Lakers, which hasn’t made it to these shores.

Exclusive: Hollywood vet Gianni Nunnari, producer on movies including the 300 franchise, Immortals, and From Dusk Til Dawn, is teaming with producer Simon Horsman to launch Euro Gang Entertainment.

The company plans to develop, finance and produce movies, scripted and unscripted TV series, stage productions and other live events.

The outfit will have offices in London, Rome and Madrid, while keeping a base in Los Angeles, and is affiliated to Nunnari’s long-time label Hollywood Gang Productions, which will continue to develop and service legacy projects.

The awards recognize excellence in nonfiction, unscripted, and reality programming across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms.

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi, and Top Chef tied with two awards apiece.

This year’s Critics Choice Real TV Awards honored shows “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” “Top Chef,” and “Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi,” with each series taking home two awards.

All three shows won in the Best Show Host category, as RuPaul tied with Padma Lakshmi for both “Taste the Nation” and “Top Chef.” “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” took home the award for best ensemble cast in an unscripted series, while “Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi” was awarded best structured series and “Top Chef” won best culinary show.

The annual event continues to recognize excellence in nonfiction, unscripted and reality programming across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.

Lisa Vanderpump was honored with the Impact Award this year and Eugene Levy won Star of the Year. Additionally, Bravo and Netflix were the biggest winners of awards, topping four categories each.

A special program showcasing the winners will premiere on Ktla+ and Ktla.

Given the quantity and quality of reality programming, the Cca launched the Critics Choice Real TV Awards in 2019 to recognize the best in nonfiction, unscripted, and reality shows. In addition to the regular competition categories, this year the Cca honored Lisa Vanderpump with the Impact Award and Eugene Levy was named Star of the Year.

The Critics Choice Association revealed the winners of the fifth annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards, which recognize excellence in nonfiction, unscripted and reality programming.

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, Taste the Nation With Padma Lakshmi and Top Chef tied with two awards each. Drag Race won the award for best ensemble cast in an unscripted series, Taste the Nation won best structured series, and Top Chef won best culinary show. RuPaul and Lakshmi tied in the best show host category, which went to the three aforementioned shows. (The most recent season of Top Chef, which concluded June 8, is Lakshmi’s last after she announced she would not be returning as host ahead of the finale.)

Additionally, Lisa Vanderpump was honored with the Impact Award, while Eugene Levy — who hosts Apple TV+’s The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy, which won best travel/adventure show — won Star of the Year.

“Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off” and “Sesame Street” have won the first Producers Guild Awards to be given out this year, the Producers Guild of America announced at its annual East Coast Nominees Celebration in New York.

The HBO documentary “Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off” won in the Outstanding Sports Program category, whose other nominees included “McEnroe” and “Legacy: The True Story of the L.A. Lakers.” The long-running series “Sesame Street” won in the Outstanding Children’s Program category.

The PGA will announce the winners in its Outstanding Short Form Program and Innovation categories on Thursday evening at its West Coast Nominees Celebration. The other categories will be given out on Saturday evening at the 2023 Producers Guild Awards, which will take place in Los Angeles.

Netflix leads the early Producers Guild of America (PGA) Awards nomination pack, with four, as the org announced nominations in its television specialty categories. Nominees in sports, children’s and short form categories for the 34th Annual Producers Guild Awards were revealed on Friday, and winners will be announced in Los Angeles and New York at the Guild’s Nominee Events the week of February 19, 2023.

Below are the nominees; the PGA noted that it “in alphabetical order by category. The PGA “does not vet the individual producers of sports, children’s and short form television programs.”

Jeanie Buss may be best known as controlling owner and CEO of the Los Angeles Lakers, but she is also the force behind Women Of Wrestling, the only all-female wrestling organization with a global TV footprint. Buss has been involved in the property for almost two decades, and on Sept. 17, Wow will relaunch in syndication via Paramount Global Content Distribution, marking the largest-ever distribution deal in the history of women’s wrestling.

The sports exec has had a particularly buzzy last six months on top of her wrestling and Lakers commitments, premiering Hulu docuseries Legacy: The True Story of the L.A. Lakers (of which she’s an executive producer) in August while also facing an onscreen portrayal of herself and her family in HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. Antoine Fuqua wants people to know the truth about the Los Angeles Lakers franchise, which is one of the reasons he directed and executive produced the upcoming 10-part Hulu docuseries “Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers.”

The series, which launches on Aug. 15, is the latest in a flurry of programming about the NBA dynasty.

When HBO’s “Winning Time: Rise of the Lakers Dynasty,” an Adam McKay executive-produced scripted drama about the Magic Johnson-era of the Lakers, debuted in March, it drew criticism from some of those depicted for taking too many creative liberties. Former star player and general manager Jerry West demanded a legal retraction for how the series portrayed him, while Kareem Abdul-Jabbar called it “deliberately dishonest.” Johnson, subject of Apple TV+s “They Call Me Magic” docuseries in April, also criticized the series, telling Variety, “You can’t do a story about the Lakers without the Lakers…...

In entertainment, as in sports, it’s all about timing.

Which makes “Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers” a victim of the TV industry’s current interest in its subject matter. Jeanie Buss, the CEO of the NBA’s Lakers, has executive-produced Hulu’s documentary tribute to the team that was already, this year, at the center of Apple TV+’s doc “They Call Me Magic,” about star Magic Johnson, and HBO’s scripted “Winning Time,” about her late father Jerry Buss’ stewardship of the team.

This luxuriously slow-paced 10-part series begins in the “Showtime” era — during which Buss, who purchased the Lakers, along with their then-home court the Forum, in 1979 — leveraged his team’s location and his flair for drama to forge a more purely entertaining kind of sports. It’s a story that has certain noteworthy elements and that certainly has memorable personalities; Johnson is a welcome on-camera presence here.

Antonie Fuqua is in the midst of a career renaissance right now. After “The Guilty,” “Infinite,” and “The Day Sports Stood Still” last year, his Amazon Prime Video show “The Terminal List” dropped in July. Fuqua’s documentary series, “Legacy: The True Story Of The LA Lakers,” also hits Hulu on August 15.
