Milan Luthria who made his directorial debut on 19 February, 1999 with Kachche Dhaage revealed a music sense as evolved as his father, the great Raj Khosla. Raj Khosla’s film of the same name Kachche Dhaage in 1973 had Laxmikant-Pyarelal’s smash-hit songs ‘Hai hai ek ladka mujhko khat likhta hai’, ‘Kachche dhaage ke saath jisse bandh diya jaye’, ‘Mere bachpan tu jaa’, kZara se agar bewafa hum na hote’ and kJa re ja oh diwane’, all sung by Lataji.
26 years later, in Milan Luthria’s Kachche Dhaage, Lataji sang for Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan for the first and last time. The song, ‘Oopar Khuda Aasman Neeche’ was originally sung by Nusrat Saab himself as an independent song.
Milan wanted the song in his debut film, and he wanted Lataji to sing it. Lataji was nearly 70 when she sang the impossibly high notes of the sublime number. It was recorded on 15 August...

Bollywood action star Vidyut Jammwal ditched the comfort of his luxury Aston Martin and took the Mumbai metro to reach home just like any other after a long day of shoot.
A video of the actor sitting in the metro has been obtained. Vidyut is seen undistinguished as he covered half his face, sporting a navy blue baseball cap. He is seen sitting in the general compartment dressed in gray shorts, paired with gray sweatshirt and blue sneakers.
Vidyut, a people’s person, managed to perfectly go undercover as the person next to him doesn’t seem to recognise the actor, who has worked in films such as ‘Commando’, ‘Khuda Haafiz’, ‘Sanak’ and ‘Junglee’.
The actor was travelling from his shoot in Borivali. The ‘IB71’ star is currently busy shooting for his upcoming film ‘Crakk- Jeetega toh Jiyega’, an adrenaline-rushing extreme sports film.

The first quarter of 2023 has come to an end and the Hindi film industry has little to show for itself. The scene has been dismal, not because of the first quarter, but also because of the second quarter, which holds no promise of box-office boosters.
A lot of producers seem to think it is easier to create content for Ott platforms, which is why many makers have opted to produce for that medium. When you make Ott content, it’s an all-in-one deal. You complete the project, hand it over to the platform and cash out. No hassles such marketing or complying to the terms of cinema chains to endure.
It is you who make a film and it is some marketing wizkid who’ll decide how your film should be released. The problem, though, is that they know little or nothing about which film needs what kind of handling.

Exclusive: Vidyut Jammwal, one of Indian cinema’s biggest action stars, has set his first project as a producer, the espionage thriller Ib 71, in which he will also star.
Deadline revealed Jammwal’s move into production earlier this year via his company Action Hero Films, which is looking to focus on a diverse slate of content. Over the last decade the actor has risen to prominence after starring in pics including the Commando series and Junglee.
On Ib 71 he is teaming with Indian major Reliance Entertainment and Gulshan Kumar’s T-Series. National Award-winning filmmaker Sankalp Reddy (The Ghazi Attack) will helm.
Set before the Indo-Pakistani war, Jammwal will play an intelligence officer in a story about how Indian intelligence agencies outwitted the Pakistani establishment and gave the Indian armed forces the required advantage they needed to face a two-front war. Aditya Shastri wrote the story and the screenplay comes from Storyhouse Films.

Exclusive: Vidyut Jammwal’s rise to fame has been a remarkably rapid one. He only made his screen debut in 2011, taking largely glorified extra or stuntman roles in films as he sought his break. “I wasn’t the bad guy, I was the guy next to the bad guy,” as he puts it. Flash forward ten years and Jammwal’s star has risen through roles in movies including the Commando series and Junglee to make him one of the Indian biz’s most appreciated action stars.
It seems like a natural fit, then, that Jammwal’s move into producing for the first time sees him launch a company called ‘Action Hero Films’. However, his intentions behind the camera are less about cementing himself as the pre-eminent name of India’s action cinema, and he is instead focusing on producing a broad range of diverse, impactful films, and not necessarily in the genre you’d expect.

Chris Tucker, Adrien Brody and Paul Haggis were on hand Saturday to give a huge high-tech finale to the fifth edition of the Jackie Chan Action Film Week. So too were Crystal Liu Yifei, star of Disney’s upcoming “Mulan,” and a bevy of top Chinese talent.
Moving the event from the fringes of the Shanghai festival in June, to a new date and spectacular outdoor venues provided by provincial town of Datong, some 200 miles East of Beijing in Shanxi Province, may have revitalized the Action Film Week. Upbeat organizers now talk of franchising the event to other countries.
If the opening on July 21 was reportedly relatively quiet, the closing ceremony was a razzamatazz of stunts, choreography and pyrotechnics with ambitions of matching an Olympic Games or World Cup opening.

Seven international films have benefited from $2.14 million (THB68 million) in cash rebates since Thailand launched a production incentive program at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016.
Administered by the Thailand Film Office, the incentives provide 15% to 20% repayment of qualifying local spend.
At an event in Cannes on Friday, the Tfo said that the scheme is functioning well and that the Thai production industry is on course for a record year. In the first quarter of 2019, Thailand has already been used as a location for 28 feature films, with an aggregate local spend of more than $40 million.
“While producers are benefiting from the incentives, Thailand is also benefiting from the arrival of film and television productions. From the crews and facility companies, right through to hotels, domestic transport and the hospitality industry, the revenue earned through servicing international productions benefits many,” said Anan Wongbenjarat, deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism & Sport.

Both the new releases of the week, Chuck Russel?s Vidyut Jamwal starrer Junglee and Salman Khan?s home production (Salma Khan produced) Notebook, failed to appeal to the ?audience.
Comparatively speaking while Junglee saw a 10-12 percent start, Notebook was below the 5 percent mark. The latter shows saw a negligible growth for Junglee, while Notebook was flat. Having said that, both the films have the weekend to make amends, though the task is monumental.
Meanwhile, after a 105 crore (to be validated), extended 8-day week ?Akshay Kumar?s Holi release, Kesari, turned out to be the predictable front runner, even during its second outing (read as week), which is in a way is good because for a hit tag, the 80 crore budget Kesari has to have a good second week run. Bright chances that it will!
