Exit

It was interesting to see what would happen next and in the end but it's nothing like as good as people are making it out to be. Worst comment I've seen on here is someone saying it is "for intelligent people" as there are allegories of Brexit. That's total pompous show off nonsense.

Whilst it does heighten the tension and is well acted a lot of it doesn't make any sense. Half of the characters don't make any sense, people's actions don't make any sense. There are annoying scenes that go on too long with just annoying noises and rubbish music. The director somehow doesn't know what crazy golf is, and the end doesn't mean anything.

I saw Exit at Horror-on-Sea and was mesmerised by it, during, and after, viewing. It has a David Lynch feel to it, especially the soundtrack, but a David Lynch that you might meet down the pub, and who may slip a little something into your drink. I loved the stylised tone of the film juxtaposed with the naturalistic performances of the very capable actors. A many-layered film that remained with me long after the screening.

Excellent sound design. The music has gorgeous rumbling bass lines and dissonant drums, reminds me of tippy 90s tunes from the likes of Massive Attack. The colours add richness to the emotions and creation of a drug like state feeling. Thoughtful, visceral and provocative. A colourful and dark trip, I look forward very much to what Michael Fausti will make next.

The title of the movie is a giveaway, head for the exit I guess. I was tempted myself to exit the movie in the first 10 min. Because it's a mixture of small cuts with phycodelic music and imaginary that doesn'tmake much sense. The photography makes it look like it was shot with an old grainy mobile phone camera.

Then things pick up when something start to happen but it's all so odd and implausible sometimes with painful photography. The main mistake in my opinion is the short cuts that are constantly shown showing just for a few seconds things that will happen later. Then who are those two odd repulsive people running like a spy operation on the couples, not a clue.

By the way, what was all that xenophobic stuff about? All that constant hate about foreigners? Really disgusting The only positive thing is that it can be a cautionary tale about not getting your drink spiked.

So in a nutshell, super budget movie that will be too much, too odd for the average viewer.

Saw this at a fest and enjoyed it! It's a very well written, tongue-in-cheek allegory for the whole Brexit mess in the UK, and works well on that front. Low budget, but nicely shot and edited, interesting colour palette from the gaffer. Probably one for the slightly more intelligent audience due to the meaning behind it, but also plenty in there to keep most modern horror audiences happy as well. Well worth seeking out!
