Marvel’s upcoming movie Thunderbolts is just around the corner, and director Jake Schreier has shared something interesting — he originally wanted Man-Thing to be part of the team.

In an interview, Schreier revealed, “I think there was a point during pitching when I really wanted Man-Thing to be on the team.” He was talking about the early stages of planning the movie, when different characters were being considered for the lineup.

But Marvel Studios had different plans for the swamp creature. Instead of joining the Thunderbolts team, Man-Thing made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2022’s Werewolf by Night Halloween special. Schreier said that change “worked out for the best,” suggesting he’s happy with how things turned out in the end.

It's pretty apt that the next movie in Legendary's MonsterVerse franchise is generating such discussion around Easter time, for it was Easter last year that saw the most recent film in the series take the world by storm upon its release. Scream Queen and Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis is co-starring and producing a new psychological horror flick, “Sender,” and they’ve revealed quite the casting addition to the lineup.

Deadline is reporting that actress Britt Lower has joined Curtis, David Dastmalchian (“Late Night With The Devil”), and Anna Baryshnikov (“Love Lies Bleeding”) in a lead role as the pic is based on Russell Goldman‘s “Return To Sender.”

An award-winning 2022 short that Goldman later adapted into a 2023 Black List script (a collection of the best unproduced scripts that have led to some excellent films) and is now making his feature directorial debut as production is underway.

We announced yesterday that Rohan Campbell will be playing iconic slasher Billy Chapman in the upcoming Silent Night, Deadly Night reboot from Bloody Disgusting, Cineverse, and director Mike P. Nelson (Wrong Turn, V/H/S/85), and today we’ve got some more exclusive casting news to whet your appetite for the holiday horror.

Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report this afternoon that Ruby Modine (Happy Death Day) will be playing Pamela in Silent Night, Deadly Night, alongside Rohan Campbell’s Billy!

In addition to playing Lori Spengler in both Happy Death Day and its sequel Happy Death Day 2U, Ruby Modine also starred in 2019’s Satanic Panic and 2023’s Fear. Outside the horror genre, Modine’s credits include “Shameless,” American Desert, and The Survivalist.

From Cineverse, a next-generation entertainment studio, and Bloody Disgusting, its horror division, Silent Night, Deadly Night will be slashing into theaters this holiday season.

After the recent announcement that Severance star Britt Lower would lead the cast for a new Netflix prison break series, the rising star has lined up yet another project, this time teaming with legendary actress Jamie Lee Curtis on a new horror film.

Per Deadline, Lower is set to lead the cast of Sender, a psychological horror film from Russell Goldman, who makes his feature directorial debut with the movie. The horror flick is based on Goldman's 2022 short film Return to Sender. Lower will star alongside David Dastmalchian, Anna Baryshnikov, and Curtis. Per the official logline, Sender follows "a woman (Lower) who experiences an e-commerce package delivery scam that becomes so personal and disturbing that she becomes hellbent on discovering the identity of her anonymous sender."

In addition to starring in the film, Curtis serves as a producer alongside Molly Hallam and Jake Katofsky, while Lower is an executive producer.

Terrifier 3 saw the glorious return of the Christmas-themed slasher last fall. Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting aren't ready to stop making blood-red snow anytime as their reboot of the iconic and equally controversial '80s horror film Silent Night, Deadly Night will be coming down the chimney later this year. Fans of the slasher franchise have slowly been getting earlier seasonal treats like a teaser poster a few months back. Now, this version of Silent Night, Deadly Night has found their Billy in Halloween Ends star Rohan Campbell.

First reported by Bloody Disgusting, the reimagining is “blending psychological horror, brutal slasher thrills and a touch of the supernatural and, shockingly, a sprinkle of romance, the new film hopes to deliver a modern new take on the ultimate holiday nightmare.” Silent Night, Deadly Night is written and directed by Mike P. In February 2025, it was revealed that Jennifer Zhang's sci-fi thriller, Trüebadour, was expected to begin filming in April. Ryan Bergara, who will star in the upcoming film, took to Instagram to give fans a positive status update.

Bergara confirmed via Instagram that production of the sci-fi thriller has officially begun. Bergara shared several behind-the-scenes photos, telling fans: "First days of Trüebadour in the can! Having a blast working with these folks and trying to take in and celebrate every small step of this journey! So here’s a lil bts while we continue the long road ahead!" Reflecting on his experience so far, he added, "And if I’m being embarrassingly honest… making a movie on the Universal lot, seeing The studio tour trams pass by, the same trams that I’ve sat in literally a hundred times, was surreal and genuinely a childhood dream fulfilled."

Final Destination is one of horror history's most successful franchises, set to have another sequel coming out 25 years after the original movie's release. There's been a lot of money that's been made with the past installments of the movie series, though there could have been much more if not for one fatal flaw with the concept of an unseen "Death" as the killer.

While the types of tragedies differ, the concept of every Final Destination movie is the same: a group of would-be victims narrowly escape certain death thanks to the warning of one person who has a premonition of the event moments before it happens. However, Death doesn't like to be cheated, and an invisible force works to kill the survivors by manipulating their surrounding environments. There's no telling when and how Death might come for the characters, which adds to the suspense, though it also meant missing out on major merchandise revenue.

Few franchises can say that they've endured the way that "Halloween" has. Directed by the horror master himself, John Carpenter, the 1978 classic that started it all remains one of the most beloved movies the genre has ever produced. It also resulted in a series of sequels and reboots that have allowed Michael Myers to endure for nearly 50 years in the larger pop culture consciousness.

Carpenter's original movie sets the tone right out of the gate, with a young Michael Myers killing his older sister, Judith Myers, in a brutal fashion. We see the whole thing in Pov before the gut-punch of a reveal that it was a young boy behind this cold-blooded murder. The rest of the film picks up years later, with Michael now an adult let loose on the town of Haddonfield, leaving quite a few more bodies in his wake.

Horror-punk legends The Original Misfits took the stage at Coachella late Saturday night (April 12th), ripping through a 20-song set at the massive festival in Indio, California.

The band launched into “Death Comes Ripping” to kick off the set, which began with a few technical issues but sorted itself out a few songs in. Frontman Glenn Danzig engaged the crowd throughout, at one point asking if there were any goth girls in the audience before playing “Vampira,” a song about the “original goth girl.”

A circle pit soon broke out, as the Misfits played favorites like “Where Eagles Dare,” “Mommy, Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight?,” “Earth A.D.” and “Skulls.”

With the October 10 show sold out, John Carpenter has added a second concert at the Knockdown Center in Queens, NY on October 9.

“Wow,” Carpenter exclaimed. “New York City, we’re pleased to announce a second show has been added!”

The master of horror will perform alongside bandmates Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies for their first live show since 2018.

Following the New York dates, the group heads to The Belasco in Los Angeles for shows on October 24, October 25, October 31, and November 1.

They play Carpenter’s classic film cues from the likes of Halloween, The Thing, Escape from New York, The Fog, They Live, and more along with original music from their four Lost Themes albums.

One of the most exciting and infuriating things about movies are the deleted scenes that never made it to the final picture. Remember, Duddley telling Harry that he is not a waste of space, or Luke Skywalker finishing his iconic green lightsaber? Well, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has no shortage of similar deleted scenes that would have made the whole movie even better.

Given the ‘developmental hell’ Captain America: Brave New World was stuck in and the reshoots it supposedly had, it isn’t surprising that there have been more than a few deleted scenes. Christine Elise has shared the screen with Chucky the killer doll several times over the decades, first appearing as the heroine Kyle in Child’s Play 2 back in 1990, then reprising the role for Cult of Chucky (the seventh film in the series) in 2017 and multiple episodes of the Chucky TV show, which ran for three seasons, from 2021 to 2024. John Carpenter finally gets his long-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The iconic - and subversive - director of the landmark Halloween (1978) continues influencing modern horror creatives and putting money in studio pockets.

On April 3, 2025, Carpenter received a tremendous honor acknowledging his five roller-coaster decades in the film industry. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce certainly values his work. It awarded him a coveted place among the legends on Hollywood Blvd. Frequent Carpenter star Kurt Russell joined fellow alumnus from The Thing (1982), Keith David, to honor the director in front of the press.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame star secures John Carpenter's place in cinematic history. He's a legend whose contributions to the horror genre and overall film industry were (and are) significant. Just one week after yet another non-update on the status of Happy Death Day 3, franchise star Jessica Rothe announced at a double feature screening of the first two movies that the long-awaited third installment in the horror-comedy franchise is now “moving forward”!

“The third movie is moving forward,” Jessica Rothe said on stage at the American Cinematheque last night, with Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon by her side.

Landon himself added, “It is moving forward.”

It’s been six years since the release of Happy Death Day 2U, with fans spending these past six years wondering why the financially successful franchise hasn’t yet made its return. Landon recently revealed that Universal and Blumhouse at one point considered doing a third installment as a three-part miniseries for Peacock, which of course didn’t end up happening.

Things got freaky deaky during the final day of CinemaCon today at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace. Bringing the audience the very best of their upcoming lineup, Disney went all out with a little bit of everything for every type of fan. “Devil May Cry” – the latest Netflix animated series based on a video game – has finally arrived.

Steered by Ari Shankar, who was also responsible for the critically successful “Castlevania” series also at Netflix, the new “Devil May Cry” show brings the classic violent gunplay combat from the video game along with the grungy late ’90s/early ’00s vibe and music that was popular at the time of its original release.

Back in June of last year, the Hollywood Chamber’s Board of Directors announced that more than thirty new stars are going to be added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2025 (and into 2026), with the latest batch of honorees including legendary filmmaker John Carpenter. Honorees have up to two years after they are chosen to set a date for their ceremonies – and now, it has been confirmed that Carpenter’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 11:30 Am Pt.

Carpenter’s will be the 2,806th star to be added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the dedication will take place at 7000 Hollywood Boulevard, in front of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

The first film, which opened to a record-shattering $80 million and went on to earn almost $300 million worldwide, followed Mike, a troubled young man who reluctantly takes a job as a night security guard at an abandoned theme restaurant, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, hoping it will help him retain custody of his young sister. Today at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Universal Pictures revealed the teaser trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and announced a live-action adaptation of DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Jason Blum’s house runneth over at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Horror label Blumhouse brought four new films to tantalize global theater owners on Tuesday, which will roll out steadily through 2025.

The titles feature homicidal robot girls, murderous animatronic mascots, a jacked and terrifying (and undead?) Ethan Hawke and a sentient sex doll. It’s what we love and expect from the producer of “Whiplash” and “BlacKkKlansman.”

This is the first time Blumhouse has presented to exhibitors since merging with horror company Atomic Monster, founded by “The Conjuring” and “Insidious” mastermind James Wan.

Back in October, I got my hands on the Special Edition of Nighthawk Interactive’s Halloween and Ash vs Evil Dead RetroRealms Double Feature. I mean, I preordered that baby, desperate for all the goodies and collectibles, plus games centering around two of my favorite horror franchises, despite my innate resistance toward 2D action platformers. Superman director James Gunn hopes his reboot, featuring the popular caped crusader, propels the DC Universe to new heights during its infancy. The DC Studios co-ceo teases how the upcoming Warner Bros. tentpole will set the right tone for the Dcu, insisting it's a "different" and "exciting" project that offers fresh experiences for fans.

Creature Commandos offered fans a glimpse of the new Dcu, and for the most part, it wasn't that different - tonally, at least - from The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. The main thing those films and TV shows have in common is that they were all helmed by James Gunn.

Does that mean Superman will boast the same look and feel? While there are recurring themes through the filmmaker's Marvel and DC work, Guardians of the Galaxy isn't The Suicide Squad, and this reboot is bound to feel vastly different give who the lead character is.

“Devil May Cry” is keeping the late ’90s/early ’00s throwback train rollin’ with the reveal of its official soundtrack.

In addition to Limp Bizkit‘s “Rollin’,” a remix of Papa Roach‘s “Last Resort,” and the new Evanescence single “Afterlife,” the show will feature “Guerrilla Radio” by Rage Against the Machine, “Butterfly” by Crazy Town, “Ghost” by Gunship, and an as-yet-unspecified Green Day song.

Synthwave duo Power Glove also puts its spin on two Devil May Cry 5 tracks composed by Casey Edwards, “Bury the Light” and “Devil Trigger.”

Based on the Capcom video game franchise, the eight-episode animated series releases tomorrow, April 3, on Netflix.

Call me old-fashioned, but I don’t take much pleasure in what Roger Ebert called “dead teenager movies” — and yet, for some reason, this week I am writing about three. The clearest explanation I can point to is the fact that, at a time of considerable economic uncertainty in the film industry, horror movies are performing better than ever: They’re cheap, they’re profitable and they consistently draw audiences without the cost of a massive marketing campaign.

Neon has been smart with “Hell of a Summer,” a summer camp slasher comedy the genre-savvy distributor picked up last August, nearly a year after it premiered in Midnight Madness at the Toronto Film Festival.
