Night of the Demons III? Weird. That must be like one of those Hellraiser sequels that wasn’t originally intended to be a Hellraiser movie but had Doug Bradley pasted into it for 5 minutes to justify it. Wait, it was written by original director Kevin Tenney? Well surely its easy to watch… oh for Pete’s sake, its not even streaming on Tubi. No offense to Tubi at all. I love finding random movies to watch on there but they have everything and even have commentary on the first Night of the Demons. Okay, I knew this movie existed, especially after I did a black sheep on the second entry a few years ago, but until a couple months ago I had never seen it. After watching both the official version and the workprint version (more on that later), I’m ready to move the Black Sheep crown from part...

Pinocchio: Unstrung offers a fresh horror retelling of the classic puppet story by Carlo Collodi, set to terrify audiences in 2024. The movie is part of the Twisted Child Universe, known for giving horror makeovers to public-domain children's tales like Winnie the Pooh. With no announced production or cast yet, it remains to be seen if Pinocchio: Unstrung will outshine the cult following of 1996's Pinocchio's Revenge, the first official horror remake of Pinocchio.
The classic puppet Pinocchio is set to be given a horror makeover in the upcoming horror Pinocchio: Unstrung, but this is not the first time that the puppet has received horror treatment. This upcoming movie is set to give audiences a new, frightening glimpse at the puppet who wishes to become a real boy. Early images released of the upcoming slasher have guaranteed a different take on the popular story written by Carlo Collodi.

Geralyn Marie Betzler worked on several movies throughout the ’80s and ’90s. On her first feature, 1985’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, she was credited by her full birth name, but as her screen acting career went on she would take credit as either Geri Betzler or Zoe Trilling – and it’s that second name that most fans seem to know her by. Among her credits are episodes of Guiding Light, 21 Jump Street, and Married… with Children, and the films Amityville Horror: The Evil Escapes, They Came from Outer Space, The Borrower, Dr. Giggles, Night Terrors, Hellbound, and Leprechaun 3 – but her most popular role may be in the 1994 horror comedy Night of the Demons 2, where she stole the show as bad girl Shirley Finnerty. Sadly, just as Night of the Demons 2 is reaching Blu-ray courtesy of Scream Factory, it has been confirmed that Betzler / Trilling passed away...

The idea of retelling placid and gentle children's fairy tales in a bloody, horror milieu is hardly new. Think of a fairy tale or beloved children's classic, and odds are good that someone has already transformed it into a horror movie. Off the top of my head: Neil Jordan made a horror movie out of Little Red Riding Hood with "The Company of Wolves" in 1984. Later, in 1996, filmmaker Matthew Bright brought the same story into a scuzzy modern setting with "Freeway." 1997 saw the release of "Snow White: A Tale of Terror" with Sigourney Weaver as the evil queen.
"The Little Mermaid" was transformed into an awesome 2015 horror musical called "The Lure." Pinocchio starred in "Pinocchio's Revenge." The Gingerbread Man was transformed into "The Gingerdead Man". A quick stroll through the spider-webbed hallways of Tubi might reveal titles like "The Curse of Sleeping Beauty," 1995's "Rumplestiltskin," and multiple films called "The Tooth Fairy.

Rhys Frake-Waterfield's new horror film "Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey" takes the toddler-like characters from A.A. Milne's beloved 1926 children's novel, and transforms them into lumbering, human-hating, bloodthirsty serial killers. If you ever wanted to see Christopher Robin's little yellow Pooh bear as Leatherface from "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre," then "Blood and Honey" is for you.
The central gag of Frake-Waterfield's film is, of course, the juxtaposition of Milne's childlike innocence with the violent crassness of your average slasher movie. One might ostensibly get a certain lascivious thrill from seeing well-known childhood imagery blended with adult material. A similar approach was used in Danishka Esterhazy's 2019 film "The Banana Splits Movie" which saw the stars of the 1968 children's TV show turned into murderous robots, as well as any number of horror fairy tales.
Because most of the above stories are now in the public domain ("The Banana Splits...

Since we’re all quarantined in our homes for the foreseeable future with daylight but a distant memory, we have to make our own entertainment with what’s available. As well as an interminable litany of TikTok videos and the casts of concluded TV shows reuniting over Zoom, watch parties are becoming one of the most popular choices to alleviate boredom and pretend we’re around other people. The creatives responsible for the work being viewed are often behind official events, and the latest of these is from Child’s Play creator Don Mancini, who will be hosting a rewatch of the original movie with Syfy Wire.
Directed by Tom Holland in 1988, the movie begins when serial killer Charles Lee Ray is cornered by police, and after being fatally shot breaks into a toy store and uses a Voodoo ritual to transfer his soul into a doll named Chucky. The...

Sad news to report as actor Verne Troyer has passed away. He was 49 at the time of his death. And it was widely reported that he had been hospitalized earlier this month. He was best known for his comedic role as Mini-Me in the Austin Powers movies, starring in both Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Austin Powers in Goldmember. The official Facebook page for the actor made the announcement. They had this to say.
"It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that Verne passed away today. Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh. Anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible. Verne hoped he made a positive change with the platform he had and worked towards spreading that message everyday. He inspired people around the world with his drive, determination, and attitude.

Disney is developing a project loosely based on their 1940 animated classic Pinocchio, bringing on screenwriter Peter Hedges (The Odd Life of Timothy Green) to write the screenplay. This is the third live action adaptation of an animated movie that Disney has put into development over the past week, following Mulan and Winnie the Pooh. The studio has also announced new live action versions of Dumbo and Beauty and the Beast over the past few months.
The story of Pinocchio originated with author Carlo Collodi's 1883 novel The Adventures of Pinocchio, following a boy made out of wood who ultimately gets his wish to become a real human, but each time he tells a lie, his nose grows longer and longer. Peter Hedges' take on Pinocchio is said to be inspired by the original story, but no specific plot details were given. Director Guillermo del Toro is currently developing his own version of Pinocchio,...

Pinocchio's Revenge; 1996, 96 min.; dir. Kevin Tenney; available on Netflix until 2/1/2013
This week I decided to make a kind of fairy-tale theme. The 90s were kind of notorious for them; the big name obviously was the Leprechaun series. So, here's our first trip in tonight's drive-in: Pinocchio's Revenge. This is actually a pretty tepid piece of film watching, and really may not be worth it if you're not sitting in a room with a bunch of friends who can equally marvel at the fact that this thing was released. Ever.
The premise is this: a public defender single mom acquires a marionette as a piece of evidence in a case she recently lost. Mom's daughter, suffering from some abandonment issues re: her dad, takes to the little lump of wood. Of course mischievous things start happening, like mom's boyfriend falling down some stairs, and the vaguely foreign housekeeper being beaten to death with a fire-poker.

There is something about dolls that gives people the creeps, it may be that they look like midget humans or that they can look so real. Chucky from Child's Play Das Clown Billy Shaw from Dead Silence Pinocchio's Revenge Billy Puppet Dolly Dearest…...

My favorite thing about doing these "The Women of… Naked” series is that each one is a new and fun way to rediscover old horror flicks. Unlike the boring Rue Morgue approach... "In 1988 on a dark and dreary day, a filmmaker and small crew braved the Texas heat to blah, blah, blah." It is like a horror history lesson with nude chicks! In today's lesson we have The Women of Children of the Corn Naked II: The Final Sacrifice starring Aubrey Dollar (pictured, Heavy Weights ) in a bikini and Rosalind Allen naked in Pinocchio's Revenge. Allen also appeared on one episode of Freddy's Nightmares (S2E13 What You Don’t Know Can Kill You), and starred in Son of Darkness: To Die for II.

Ryan Reynolds, who toplined the Artisan Entertainment release National Lampoon's Van Wilder, has teamed with one of the producers of the film, Jonathon Komack Martin, to form the production company Dark Trick Films. Reynolds and Komack Martin will run the Beverly Hills-based operation, with Mike Eitelman serving as senior vp production. The trio could not be reached for comment Wednesday. The company does not yet have a studio deal. Reynolds, repped by Original's Jonathan Perry and attorney Jeanne Newman, has starred in Finder's Fee, Dick and the TV series Two Guys and a Girl.
