Released at the tail end of 2014, The Crew served as a fitting conclusion to a tumultuous 2014 for Ubisoft. The Ivory Tower developed racer had plenty of potential, as its replica of the United States promised a massive playground for drivers to toy around with. Unfortunately, thanks to some questionable design decisions and troublesome glitches, the title was unable to reach its full potential. After less than impressive reviews from critics, and underwhelming sales, it appeared that the ride was already over for the game.
Surprisingly, though, Ubisoft unveiled The Crew: Wild Run at their E3 conference earlier this year. Despite the presence of a season pass already available for the title, Wild Run is a full-fledged expansion pack. While the original release focused mostly street and dirt racing, the expansion pack introduces three new types of challenges for racers to indulge in. Coinciding with the release of the Dlc, Ivory Tower...

Steve Buscemi (Armageddon, The Big Lebowski) stars in this explosive HBO drama series set at the dawn of the Prohibition era, when the sale of alcohol became illegal throughout the United States. Charting the birth of organised crime, the series chronicles the life and times of Enoch ‘Nucky’ Thompson (Buscemi), the Atlantic City treasurer whose double role as politician and bootlegger makes him the most powerful man on the Boardwalk.

The act of writing allows me to feel truly alive. Knowing that I have sold 140 million books worldwide (and given an average of three readers per copy, have reached half a billion people), I have always wondered who these readers were who understood so well what I was saying. How could countries with such different cultures, like Israel and Iran, for example, be interested in my books? When I started using social media, without any assistance or planning,...

Scrupulously period accurate TV drama Boardwalk Empire (recently underway on Sky Atlantic) is set in early 1920s Atlantic City, a then hotbed of political corruption and prohibition racketeering. Not that such a description would be alluded to in the holiday brochures; on the surface everything was salt water taffy and Temperance League matriarchs fighting the good fight.
Via John A. Dunn’s striking costumes, the show broadly ensures that men are the primary objects of exhibition, in particular corrupt county treasurer Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi). This is because women of the era had yet to break away from history’s designated roles of wife, mother, sex object; they had no freedom to choose their path.
Following implementation of the 19th Amendment in the U.S., individual states were no longer able to prohibit women from voting. As Boardwalk Empire gets underway the pilot episode sets a scene of a community on the verge of change,...

Boardwalk Empire recap: Season 1, Episode 2 "The Ivory Tower" (9/26/10)
You know your show is fantastic when there is literally no debate over what the season's best new show is. Such is the life of HBO's Boardwalk Empire, which was picked up earlier this week for its second season (after only one episode had aired). So life in general is clearly good for the Winter and Scorsese families at the moment. Does that bliss translate to this week's to the quality of this week's episode? Of course it does. Here are our top ten awesome things about this week's episode of this awesome show:

Hey, here’s a fun literary fact for you: “The Ivory Tower,” which is the title of this episode and the book that Kelly MacDonald is reading in the hospital, is an unfinished Henry James novel. It’s about how possessions, things you own, or want, corrupt people. Which of course, has nothing to do with any of our characters. Cough.
And yes, here we are at the second episode of Boardwalk Empire, a show which already posted the best numbers HBO has ever had, and has already been picked up for a second season. The first episode, hey, it makes sense it did so well: advertising was great; the pedigree was great; and it played like Goodfellas 1920. So why wouldn’t people go gaga? The real test is right here, right now. You can have a movie with some loose ends, and call that a pilot, but the second...

Boardwalk Empire continues to lay the groundwork for the first season tonight with episode 2, Ivory Tower. Boardwalk Empire Season 1 Episode 2: “The Ivory Tower” Debut: Sunday, Sept. 26 (9:00-10:00 p.m. Et/Pt) Investigating a crime which he feels has been pinned on a scapegoat, straight-arrow Agent Nelson Van Alden (Michael Shannon) pays a visit to Nucky and leaves convinced that the Treasurer is “as corrupt as the day is long.” Nucky quickly does damage control, enlisting his brother, Sheriff Elias Thompson (Shea Whigham), to close ranks with their underlings. Meanwhile, in Chicago, Al Capone (Stephen Graham) shows a local reporter what he thinks about accusations that Johnny Torrio (Greg Antonacci) was involved in the slaying of local mobster “Big Jim” Colosimo (Frank Crudele). Back in Atlantic City, Nucky discusses the upcoming election with his aging mentor, Commodore Louis Kaestner (Dabney Coleman), with whom he debates the women’s vote issue.

"Boardwalk Empire" opened to a strong number and for that it's granted a second season. HBO has renewed the new series starring Steve Buscemi after only one episode that attracted 4.8 million viewers. The cable has not absorbed such amount of rating since the 2004 opener of "Deadwood".
"All the ingredients aligned for this one, from Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson's initial pitch, to Martin Scorsese's enormous contributions as director and executive producer, to the genius of Terry Winter and the expertise of Tim Van Patten, to a stellar cast led by Steve Buscemi," said president of HBO programming Michael Lombardo. "The response from the media and our viewers has been nothing short of amazing."
The second season is actually a given considering the amount of money spent to erect the magnificent set. The big investment includes an actual boardwalk and costumes that resemble America in 1920s. The cast are...
