The DC Extended Universe wasn't exactly a success, though it would be wrong to say that it didn't deliver some good stories and box office hits. Still, something needed to change, and that's why DC Studios was formed at the start of 2023.

Over the past two years, we've seen the Dcu slowly start to take shape. Superman will kick things off properly this summer after Creature Commandos gave us a taste of what's to come, and beyond that, the slate is - mostly - shaping up to be in equal parts intriguing and exciting.

However, when DC Studios decided to take these characters back to the drawing board, there were some casualties. James Gunn has enlisted many of his friends to reprise their respective DC roles, but with a fresh start on the horizon, many movies and ideas were scrapped.

David Corenswet’s Superman and Pedro Pascal’s The Fantastic Four are two of the biggest releases of the year. Both films aim for nothing short of a billion dollar in box office revenue from the global market. However, Donald Trump’s tariff policies might put a dent in those plans. China has reportedly come up with retaliatory measures to Trump’s threat to increase the U.S. tariff on Chinese imports.

Trump imposed 54 percent tariffs on all Chinese goods, and China retaliated with a pledge of a 34 percent increase in tariffs to meet the U.S. tariff rates. The U.S. has threatened to impose a 50 percent additional levy, bringing the U.S. tariff on Chinese imports to 104 percent.

Not that it was a secret to anyone who pays even a little bit of attention to box office happenings, but "Snow White" is proving to be one hell of a disaster for Disney. The live-action reimagining of the classic fairy tale recently suffered a very disappointing opening, earning barely north of $40 million at the domestic box office. Both actresses have been in the Dceu, with Gadot famously playing Wonder Woman and Zegler portraying Anthea, one of the three daughters of Atlas in the second “Shazam!” film.

The first “Wonder Woman” film performed well, but the second film, “Wonder Woman ’84”, did not. “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” didn’t even make $120 million in total.

Given the current status of “Snow White” and all the controversies around Rachel Zegler, she might not be a good idea for the MCU.

Graham Nolan is the co-creator of Bane, the Batman villain known for his enormous size, use of a super steroid called Venom, and breaking Batman’s back. Bane has been redesigned for the Absolute Universe, a new initiative by DC Comics that sees characters’ stories retold without key elements of their backstories. In the DC Universe, one of the most fan-beloved characters of all time, especially among the superheroes, is none other than Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman. This isn’t just another retelling of the classic tale—it’s made history, but not in the way the studio might have hoped. Audiences gave it a B+ on CinemaScore, which tracks how moviegoers feel right after watching. That’s a decent mark for most films, but for Disney’s track record with live-action remakes, it stands out as the lowest ever.

The film brings Rachel Zegler into the spotlight as Snow White, with Gal Gadot playing the wicked Evil Queen. Although technically, in this version, they aren’t dwarves. As explained in the movie, they’re magical creatures that have lived in the woods for hundreds of years. That said, they still take on the names of the original seven dwarves.

And of course, there are some recognizable humans on screen as well as lending their voices to the merry bunch.

Starring Rachel Zegler as the iconic Disney princess, “Snow White” has made $3.5 million in Thursday previews so far at the box office. It’s projected to make $45 million to $55 million in its opening weekend, plus another $50 million internationally for a worldwide launch of around $100 million.

Based on those projections, “Snow White” will end up below the 2023 “Little Mermaid” remake, which opened with $95 million, and more in line with 2019’s “Dumbo,” which launched with $45 million. “Little Mermaid” had $10.3 million in Thursday previews, while “Dumbo” took flight with $2.6 million. “Snow White” cost more than $250 million, plus marketing costs, so it’ll need to stick around in theaters and play well with families to turn a profit. As long as they keep making money, Disney is going to continue cranking out live-action remakes of its animated classics, even if it means sacrificing its magic in the process. All art is subjective, which means there's no universal truth to declaring what determines the "best" or "worst" of these reimaginings, but I can say with confidence that Rachel Zegler is, hands down, the best live-action Disney Princess we've ever seen. Mind you, I have a deep affinity for Lily James' absolutely perfect portrayal of Cinderella, but I also lamented that she didn't get to sing "A dream is a wish your heart makes." Meanwhile, I'm far less critical of Emma Watson's Belle than most critics, mostly because the "Beauty and the Beast" retelling isn't great, but I can still admit something was lacking to transcend the character into the kind of unignorable magnetism inherent in all Disney Princesses.

Hans Zimmer redefined heroism and epic music for a generation. Hence, it is sort of odd to listen to him being apprehensive about working on superhero films. After delivering incredible scores for The Lion King and Gladiator, he ushered in a new era of superhero music that was different from the John Williams and Danny Elfman school of thought.

Despite working with Christopher Nolan on The Dark Knight trilogy, Zimmer chose to not work with the MCU. He has instead worked on some of the non-mcu titles such as The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Dark Phoenix. The legend of epic scores reportedly never wanted to compose for superheroes but Nolan convinced him.

Istanbul-based distributor Madd Entertainment has released the international trailer for English-language drama “El Turco,” in which Turkish megastar Can Yaman plays a legendary historical figure that bridges Turkey with the Western world.

The hotly anticipated six-episode “El Turco” series — featuring a starry cast of actors from nine different countries and combining history, action-adventure and romance – is set to rollout today, March 21, on Voyo in Romania, on Ivi in Russia, and on Globoplay Brazil. It will go out March 23 on Teleonce in Honduras and on April 2 on Gaín in Turkey. In Italy a ten-minute teaser will air April 3 on Mediaset Infinity and the full release will be April 8 and 15 on Mediaset’s Canale 5.
